Grain Schooner Beer Newsletter

Audio newsletter from grainschooner.beer featuring shop updates, new products and interviews with the wider industry.

Episode 7 - Torrside Brewery

This week we're talking to Chris from Torrside Brewery. You may know them as the brewery that makes an ungodly amount of smoked beer but as we discuss, they make a wide variety of beer. We're also just about the only shop in Scotland stocking them which it is an honour to be. We also go a little deep on invert sugar for the second time in a row! Episode 5 - North Riding Brewery

Rolling into the week with another fresh episode of the Grain Schooner Newsletter for grainschooner.beer This week we talk to Stuart Neilson of North Riding Brewery in Scarborough. Starting off by taking on a pub in Scarborough to get away from the humdrum of corporate life before jostling a small brewkit into the basement of what is now the North Riding Brewpub. Now North Riding is one of the go to names and most consistent faces in Yorkshire cask beer. Edpisode 4 - Blunt Chisel

Welcome to the first episode of the Grain Schooner Newsletter Podcast of the year from grainschooner.beer In the shop we have new beers from Siren and Padstow that are very much worth checking out. This week we're talking to Roy of Blunt Chisel Brewery.   When Grain Schooner was first launching, a core part of our mantra was to make noise for breweries that we don't just love but don't have the digital reach and in Fife, there are a few breweries that fit that mould. If Blunt Chisel was based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, I have no doubt you'd be hearing about them a lot more.   Find their beers here: https://grainschooner.beer/search?type=product&q=blunt+chisel   As ever, our music is by Mike Gutterman: https://mikegutterman.bandcamp.com/

Episode 2 - Christian Stolte of the Wee Cider Company

This weeks guest is cider producer, Christian Stolte of The Wee Cider Company. Christian reached out when Grain Schooner was building up a name in advance of launching. Cider is in a real renaissance period which we go into here and Christian’s ciders fit right into the burgeoning quality driven corner of cider. We have two of his walled garden ciders on the store. Cluny House and Haddo House which have picked up great reviews. Christian had some audio issues I’ve tried to fix here. It wasn’t me eating my laptop into my beer this time. Grainschooner.beer is a new craft beer delivery service based in Kirkcaldy, Fife. We stock a great range of beer and cider with free delivery locally and courier for further afield. Our theme music is by Mike Gutterman Drink responsibly

Episode 1 - Melissa Cole

Mellisa Cole is one of the hardest working beer writers in Britain right now. Partially because she's had to be. We take a dive into Mellisa's early journalism history which often meant proving herself against the men in her field. Further on we talk collaborations she's done with breweries, her latest books The Ultimate Guide To Craft Beer and Little Book Of Lager amongst other things. This interview could have gone on longer but we both had prior engagements as we wrapped up and no doubt we'll have Mellisa back to cover ground we missed. This podcast is a production of grainschooner.beer, a craft beer delivery service based in Kirkcaldy. We do home delivery in KY1-KY8 and KY15 with overnight shipping available to those outside of our area.  To celebrate launching our podcast, we have a little discount.
