Hello friends! Welcome back to the Melissa Hull show. In this fourth episode, I talk with Shanna Vavra on her podcast Sense of Soul about stories of grief  — both my story and those of others. Being vulnerable is hard. But it's so important for healing yourself and helping others. As I've said before, it was a letter from a mother who'd been through tragedy herself that saved me and set me on the path to today. Sharing my story has not only helped me to heal; it has allowed me to connect with and support others dealing with the same pain. Empathy and human connection are both vital for the healing process. These things aren't always easy. This episode also explores the challenges of motherhood, particularly the unrealistic expectations we too often place on ourselves. That perfectionism can be difficult to overcome, especially when it comes to recovering from loss. I also offer some practical tips on that recovery process. Holidays, for example, can be a particularly challenging time for those coping with grief. The "gift of memory" can be a great way to cope with the absence of loved ones during these hard times. Resilience, personal growth, and finding gratitude and purpose in tragedy are all vital to becoming your best self once again. I did it — so can you. Thank you, once again, for being part of this community. Always remember that you're not alone on this journey. There are others like you out there. We're here to help.
