If money was no option, where would we choose to play in Scotland? Is there really over Β£1,950 difference between a round at Turnberry and a round at your local municipal? One of the great things of Scottish Golf is the variety and endless possibilities when it comes to different golf courses. This does however bring the question into play, of how far are people willing to go when it comes to playing one of those upper end courses? With some green fees coming in at far over one club's annual membership, we discuss which golfing experiences are over (and under!) valued in Scotland π
Today we are talking through one of our new favourites, Dalmuir. The story behind this golf course is incredible, with the local community refusing to let it shut despite plans from the council, leading to a charitable trust and volunteers now running the course. From starting with zero in the bank account to now providing jobs for the local community, it's a great story on how far people will go to save a place they truly love β¨ We had the pleasure of playing Dalmuir just weeks after it reopened, and immediately we could see how important this place is to their members. In a time when a lot of golf courses are struggling, and often facing closure, it prompts a conversation as to what clubs can do to ensure longevity and a successful future β³οΈ Here we talk about the inspiring story of Dalmuir, our favourite feature holes, and what the options could be for the course going forward to ensure it thrives for years to come!
Welcome back friends ππ» We're hoping you're all still here and doing well. Let's unpack everything from the last few months from our equipment continuously failing us (even more than our golf games!), our recent filming trip to Dalmuir and Dundonald, moving house and getting married, and of course, how we've got on with some competitions so far this year β³οΈ
Hello friends and welcome back to CGgolfs! π₯³ after a short time away from uploading we're chatting you through our incredible trip to Arran, the reality of playing (or trying to play) in amateur golf events, and how our handicaps are trending on the race to +4 π
Cam & G sit down to discuss the most discounted greenfee that St Andrews has ever seen!π€― Scottish residents can now play The Old Course for Β£42.50 and can also play a host of other courses under the St Andrews Links umbrella for an87.5% discountπ° These prices are part of 'The Drive' which has been launched to improve access to St Andrews Links π The initial phase of this will see a limited number of golfers tee it up in St Andrews in 2025 β³οΈ What are your thoughts on the scheme and have you entered to be part of it this year? π

Welcome back to episode 21 of the Greens & Scenes podcast, where we'll be recapping our thoughts on the incredible Masters we've just witnessed, with Rory making history in *finally* completing the Grand Slam. Although we loved the entire thing, we did have a couple thoughts on the way it was brought together, and we'll also run you through what's going on in our lives in terms of professional golf β³οΈ

In todayβs podcast, Cam and G discuss the 2025 Augusta National Womenβs Amateur (ANWA) won by Spainβs Carla Bernat Escudar π πͺπΈ Ahead of The Masters, it is the perfect spectacle that highlights the best players in the Womenβs amateur game. It is also a great chance to get sneak peak of Augusta a few days before The Masters begins π This is an event that we both definitely want to watch in person in the future. Having seen how great the coverage was in 2025, it makes us even more excited to attend π€© If you havenβt already, we would definitely recommend watching the highlights of the 2025 event! It is also definitely worth getting the 2026 dates in your calendar to tune in πΊ
Today on the 'greens & scenes' podcast, Cam & G reflect on their content journey so far and discuss the positives from the past year of making content. We have been so grateful to everyone out there that has been so positive and has engaged with our content. It genuinely motivates us to want to continue to do it and to help grow a small golf community is something that we are both incredibly proud of. As always, if you have a topic you would like us to discuss, please leave a comment and we will make sure and add it to our schedule.ππ½
Welcome back to the Greens & Scenes podcast, where we'll be answering one of the most common questions we get - what do we get in terms of golf privileges being locals in St Andrews?! π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ With access to the St Andrews links ticket, covering all 7 golf courses, we are very lucky to live in the bounds of the town. However, there are some confusing elements of being a St Andrews local, from getting tee times on the Old Course, the difference between your links ticket and a local membership, and how easy it is to take guests on π
Welcome back to another fun Friday episode of Greens & Scenes! Today, we're discussing the game of golf, and how looking at it from a simple perspective somehow makes it 10x more complicated π All-in-all, the conclusion is we need to take a step back and be proud of what we all achieve as golfers, and that also, G probably needs to see a sports psychologist asap... Thanks for listening & have a great weekend! π§
Welcome back to the Greens and Scenes podcast! π§β³οΈ Today, Cam & G are discussing the 10 courses located in and around St Andrews π° While the Links Trust operate 7 courses, the Fairmont courses (Torrance + Kittocks) and The Dukes (for now) are separate and represent a few extra options for visiting golfers. In the area there are a variety of courses for every level of golfer. The Balgove and Strathtyrum are geared towards more of a beginner golfer or someone who is just getting started. Whereas, many of the other courses represent a stern challenge even to the best players, especially when the wind blows are there is some typical Scottish weather! π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ We are so thankful to have such a great variety of courses on our doorstep and if anyone has any questions about the courses discussed, please leave a comment and we will get back to you! ππΌ
In today's episode of 'greens & scenes', Cam and G sit down and discuss one of the pillars of Scottish winter golf (the dreaded fairway mat). While it has caused confusion for those not living in Scotland, it is common to see mats out in use on Scottish fairways from November to March each year. Thankfully they will be disappearing soon and summer rules will come back in π€© We also discuss G's 1st tournament of 2025: The Old Course in reverse! Over the history of The Old Course, it has regularly been played both ways and, for a weekend in April, it will again be played backwards π G managed to get lucky in the ballot for the event and will tee it up alongside several other local golfers in a couple of weeks time π As it is the start of the golf season, that means The Masters is around the corner. Cam gives his pick for the 2025 event and it is certainly not a name that anyone would have expected! π
Today on the βgreens & scenesβ podcast Cam & G sit down (after some spilt coffee) to discuss their 2025 bucket list πͺ£ π€© While golf in Scotland continues to climb to new heights, we are trying to focus on the hidden gems π and diamonds in the rough that exist among the 600 or so golf courses in Scotland π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ This follows on from an exciting 2024 where we were able to tick a lot of new courses off of our list β Living in St Andrews, we are exposed to championship level courses day in day out so our bucket lists look a little different to normal as we want to focus on new and remote areas of Scotland that we can visit (islands included π) As well as all of these new places, we are also looking forward to exploring more of the golf courses located on our doorstep in the Kingdom of Fife π Join us as we discuss our 2025 schedule and make sure to give us your suggestions as to courses we should go and play with our 1 free weekend in the remainder of the golf season! π
In this episode of 'Greens and Scenes' Cam & G chat about a recent round from Cupar Golf Club (also known as the oldest 9 hole golf club in the world). Located within 20 minutes of St Andrews, this historic 9-holer is in a fantastic location for us and the many thousands of tourists visiting the area each year. It is also the 1st new Scottish golf course we have managed to explore in 2025! Opened in 1855, the course has to be taken as you find it. Built on a slope, with the greens sculpted into the hill, it is a challenging short course where precision is very important. Miss the small greens and up & downs are hard to come by! We had a great match which will be coming to the @cggolfs YouTube channel soon! Tune in to find out who comes out on top π
On today's episode of Greens & Scenes, we'll be running through Cam's five main areas to focus on if you want to lower your handicap from around mid-teens, early-twenties, down to single figures. We talk through the importance of working with the right golf coach, course management, getting confidence in a couple stock shots and of course, the mental side of golf, and the things we can do to make it easier. Both Cam & Georgina have had various levels of coaching over the years, bringing us both down to +2 handicaps currently. It's easy to take this for granted at times, and assume everyone knows these areas of knowledge that we've picked up over the years, however, we know that isn't the case for everyone. Hopefully, we've been able to share some useful info with you guys! As always, let us know your thoughts or questions on this podcast below π§ thanks for listening, and make sure you're following along!
Today we are discussing one of our favourite 9-hole courses - Covesea Links. Located in the North of Scotland, it is surrounded by many championship links courses. Covesea is the perfect compliment to one of these links courses on a trip up North and itβs 9 holes have so much character, as well as some amazing views! The course is relatively new, but has a timeless feel to it, which is credit to the natural design. We discuss the course layout at Covesea, as well as the wider area and golf scene up in that part of the world. We were very lucky to play there last year on a trip to the nearby Lossiemouth and our full match can be found on our YouTube channel (@cggolfs) πΊ
One of the most common questions we get asked when people find out our handicaps, is of course, would you ever consider turning pro? Now, we have a lot to unpack on this. From the mental side of competitive golf, to the gap in performance between a scratch and elite level tour player, that a lot of golfers struggle to comprehend. In this episode, Cam & G will discuss their thoughts on if they'd ever consider turning pro, at any level of the game, and what the future might hold for their amateur golf aspirations. Thank you guys for watching! Make sure you're following along for more Greens & Scenes podcasts, here with CGgolfs ππ§

What is the best way to get in touch with you both? I dont watch on YouTube. I just listen to the podcast! (found a way you can get on courses a lot cheaper rather than paying full price all the time)
