This HWCR show is an interview with artist EDWIN; we grabbed a couple of beers in The LAB and chatted about art, British brick, writing on walls, who owns them walls, and more... Kevin Headley : 'Only One Brick in a Bridge We Have To Build' by Hackney Wick Community Radio We interviewed Kevin Headley, a couple of days before he passed away. Kevin campaigned on behalf of those excluded from society by homelessness and the housing crisis in our city; in his festivals, events and magazines; and often, literally, on the streets. He was also a huge part of the Hackney Wick artistic community, and as you can hear in this show, he believed in it passionately. He will be sorely missed, as a friend, and as a campaigner. As words and phrases- community, sustainability, legacy, affordable housing -are thrown around by politicians and developers, to mask their real designs on our cities, our welfare system, we need his hard won wisdom, more than ever. Here he is, at his; cutting, benevolent, funny, generous, entertaining, always unflinching; best. Listen up London. Rest in Peace, Kevin.
