The Homies sit down with Brittany Chavez, founder of ShopLatinx. We have an incredibly vulnerable conversation about life, love, family, dreams etc. We decided to do something different and start this episode with questions from the purpose driven game WE'RE NOT REALLY STRANGERS (WNRS). WNRS is a card game designed to create meaningful connections and inspire genuine connections. Honestly, it was the perfect way to explore who Brittany really is. We talk about how ShopLatinx was started and what kept Brittany from giving up on it all. Often times we only see the fruits of success. We never see all the everything that happens behind making something beautiful. This conversation really encapsulates the beauty in the struggle. So, tap in to listen to us share, inspire, cry, and most importantly HEAL. Much Love, The Homies
Welcome back to another episode of Helping Homies Win: The Podcast In this episode we sit down with a dear friend of ours ZOE RENEE THOMAS. She is an actor born and raised in Atlanta, GA. As the daughter of Speech—Hip Hop Legend, producer, and founder of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT— she spent much of her childhood growing up on the road, touring with her family. Moving from place to place so frequently made it hard to develop lasting relationships outside of her nucleus (family). Which may be the reason she places such an emphasis on strong friendships and building community. In this episode, we break down how Zoe and Antonio first met which includes their first(and last) date, the dangerous of romanticizing platonic relationships, stepping out of your comfort zone and bringing people together, and much more. Timestamps: 00:30: How Zoe and Antonio Met 08:30: That one time Antonio accidentally took Zoe on a date and made her cheat on her boyfriend. 14:00: The Dangers of Romanticizing Friendships/Selling Kids a Fantasy 16:30: Sorry For Pulling UP 28:00: Growing Up on the Road 34:00 The Value of Friendship 37:00 Strengnthening Vulnerability 41:00 Building Community 44:20 The Beauty in Bringing People Together 49:50 The Fear in Bringing People Together 52:50 What its like to have a FAMILY Thank you for LISTENING!

On this weeks podcast The Homies break down DIGITAL MINIMALISM and seek to answer a very important question....... Do we need to just accept social media as a part of our culture? We are in somewhat of a Digital Revolution where many people are seeking mindfulness and trying to exercise more control on how they use their devices. Some going as far as exiling them selves from socials all together. Others feel that social media is an inherent staple of our culture. A vital part of our new age lives and we need to embrace in order to stay connected. But, what happens when that connection begins to hurt you? In this episode we introduce a concept developed by the New York Times Best Selling Author Cal Newport. In his book Digital Minimalism, he advocates for taking a 30-day break from social media and setting boundaries for your digital life. The Homies link up and tackle a very taboo topic, PORNOGRAPHY. Many of our peers have been exposed (often by a family member) to porn at a very young age. In this episode, you’ll hear how PORN has impacted our psyche, our relationship to the women around us, and how we are trying to fix the issue in our own lives. This convo was inspired by an article written by Mark Manson (Author of “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck”). In the article, Mark explores and provides data supporting the claim that pornography can, in fact, ruin your sex life. The link is below if you want to check it out for yourself! https://markmanson.net/pornography-can-ruin-you-sex-life As always, we appreciate you for listening. Please LIKE, COMMENT, and most importantly SHARE with your HOMIES!
In case you missed this episode, The Homies have a very honest conversation about their sometimes UNHEALTHY HABITS with social media and how it may be the cause of why they may or may not be desiring relationships, new opportunities, or personal growth. Tap in to join the conversation! Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE and leave us a review! Peace.
