Hello lovelies! Thanks for listening! In this episode I will talk about how to survive during the holidays 🎄🎁🎉as an introvert and with family. For introverts, the holidays can be difficult whether you’re physically with family or not. This episode has tips on when you’re *physically with family and when you’re visiting from out of town. Some tips are: 1. To stay at a hotel or an Airbnb. 🏨 2. To take off more days from your day job so that you can have ‘buffer’ days (to get acclimated before and after your trip). 3. To stay with family and friends no more than 3-4 days (if you can’t afford to get a hotel or an Airbnb). 🏨 4. Arriving at the holiday party/gathering/event early and leaving early (before it gets too crowded!). 😱 5. Planning 1-1’s or small group gatherings with your close family members and friends. 6. Having your ‘me time’ and stepping away whether it’s going for a run 🏃🏾♀️ or a walk🚶🏽♀️, taking a dance or fitness class 💃🏽 , watching a movie by yourself 🍿or going holiday shopping by yourself 🛍. (The key is to step away and to do an activity by yourself so that you can recharge.) 7. Saying “no” or “I can’t make it” to any holiday group gatherings that you do not want to attend or are too tired to attend. 8. Not apologizing for saying "No" or explaining why you can't or don't wanna attend. 9. That "No" is a complete sentence. Podcast Episodes Mentioned: 1. Ep 36 Coping During the Holidays as an Introvert, Empath and an HSP. 2. Ep 75 Surviving During the Holidays as an Introvert 2023. 3. “We can do hard things” by Glennon Doyle, Abby Wambach and Amanda Doyle. 🎙If this or any of my podcast episodes have helped you in any way -- Would you be so kind to give me a 5 star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review? >>> To do a review on: 🍎 Apple >>> Click here >>> https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/im-speaking-with-elizabeth-west/id1589007063 and Scroll to the bottom to Ratings & Reviews. Hello lovelies! Thanks for listening! How are you doing? How are y’all doing? The US Election 🇺🇸 has put me and most of the country (and the world really) through a roller coaster 🎢 of emotions and feeling stressed AF. Speaking for myself...I’ve went to from a state of shock 😳 to down 😔 to frustrated 😣 to neutral and stoic 🫥 to now feeling “okay” 👌🏽. And dusting myself off and ready to go ‘onward’ and ‘upward’. ⬆️ Ready to contribute and to do what I can to help as much as I can in any and every way within my community and building a close-knit true friend community also. 👯♀️ I had a friend of mine recently that I vented to that said, “it’s okay to feel hopeful, she was too” and that it’s not a “bad thing” or a “waste of time” ever. I was thinking the past week and in the middle of feeling down I remembered that half the country voted for VP Harris! 🥳 Right now as I check the numbers (as the state of California is still counting ballots due to their very close house races) the difference is around 3 million votes. Why am I pointing this out? Because it reminds me that so, so many people *did vote for VP Harris! ☺️ There are some podcasts that have helped me in getting through it and with positive words on what we *can do despite who will become president. The links are below! :)) I hope that they help you as much as they’re helping me. :) Let’s feel our feelings, lean on our communities and as soon as we feel ready, let’s get back to it and go ‘onward and upward’! Hello Lovies! Thanks for listening! I’m in the US and… What the eff just happened?! I am disappointed and devastated and confused. 😖 I’m not looking forward to having 4 more years of toxicity and divisiveness. ☠️ There’s a saying “united we stand divided we fall”. It feels like we’re falling right now unfortunately. OMGosh. This is where we need to lean on each other for support and strength. And I second what a lot of people online have been saying which is…self-care and self-love is of the utmost importance right now. And self-care can be a form of activism! This, as well as asking for support is what we need right now. I know I do. 🥺 Please take care of yourselves right now and I will strive to do the same. ❤️🩹 And the next day (or when we feel strong enough), let’s dust ourselves off and get back to it. 🤝. Rest and Recharging 😴 are absolutely imperative especially if you’re an introvert, even more so if you’re additionally a highly sensitive person and even more so if you’re additionally an empath. 😲 Why? Because we get depleted and drained 🫗much faster than others who are not these same traits. Why? For example…. Because introverts we need alone time to recharge. 🚶🏽♀️Think of it like a cell phone battery… we don’t need to recharge all day every day, just when our batteries are low or ‘in the red’ (just like a cell phone). 🪫 Most jobs are “extroverted”. For example, we’re around a lot of people all day, or we’re talking to many people all day, every day.🗣😳 An extrovert gets fueled 🔋by being around many people, introverts are the opposite. 🪫 And HSP’s we get even more drained 🫗 because our sensitivities are x 1000 😲 compared to those that are not an HSP so let's think about this for a moment...🤔 We sense everything around us (sights 👀, smells🤧, sounds 🙉, feels 🥹, x 1000) so if you’re an HSP like me you/we get drained faster 🫗 since we’re more sensitive to everything that’s around us all.of.the.time. 😨 We can’t turn it off and be like “self, don’t notice things for 5 minutes, will ya?” And we’ll not notice anything. We’re born like this, + we can’t ‘turn it off’ 📴. If you’re also an Empath because word has it that all Empaths are HSP’s but not all HSP’s are necessarily Empaths. The word empath is short for empathy. ❤️🩹 I mentioned above that HSP’s sense things around us x1000 if you’re an empath you’re also an HSP so you’re sensing everything x 1000 also, and in addition you’re having empathy (feeling) the energy around you too. 😵💫🥹 If someone is having a bad day or they’re sad or down :(, we’ll usually pick on this as soon as we enter the room with them or speak to them. If there’s tension, we can sense that and if someone is stressed or frantic we’ll feel that too.😳 Now that I know I’m an Empath if I’m stressed or down and I’m not sure why, I have to ask myself if it’s ‘mine’ or not. 🧐 Because it can feel like it’s ours when it’s not. That’s how deep feeling we are. 😲 So…Since we feel all of these “feels” ❤️🩹and our senses are x 1000 this is why we get drained and depleted much faster 🫗 and much more often than those that are not these traits and this is why we need to fill our cups even more so 🥛 and why it’s that much more imperative for us to do so. Iyanla Vanzant quote: “What’s in our cups is for us, what’s in the saucer (or the overflow), is for others. Hi lovelies! Thanks for listening! Actually…Welcome to the Season of Self Discovery! 💡 This title was my original podcast episode title and anyhoo, long story short here we are back at the original title. 🤓 What I *didn’t know was hurting me y’all, and due to my unawareness, I didn’t know that I needed to not be so dang hard on myself all of the time 😖 as well as self-loathing (the exact opposite of self-love) that I’d been doing all of my life. 😞 I even had some of my supervisors at work tell me that I was being too hard on myself! 😳 And the things I would say to myself, never in a million years would I ever dream of saying it to a friend or a loved one. 😔 Little did I know that I needed to recharge, fill my cup, 🥛and take better self-care (and even more so than the normal person) since I had discovered that I’m an introvert AND an HSP (short for highly sensitive person). I also discovered at this time that those two traits tied in together. I thought they were completely separate! Wha?!? 😲😲😲 Shut the front door! 🚪 By me rarely to never recharging and always putting myself last, it led me to poor mental health and several bouts with depression. 😞 If I didn’t love myself and put myself first how could I expect others to? I wanna help others who are living a life of never putting themselves first and who believe the lie that 'self-care is being selfish'. (It is quite the opposite in fact!) And those that do have an inkling that they’re an introvert or more introverted (because we’re all extroverted AND introverted), that there’s nothing wrong with needing alone time, needing time to recharge and that we don’t need to explain ourselves or apologize for it. And that this is also a part of self-love. 🥰 🎙If this or any of my podcast episodes have helped you in any way -- Would you be so kind to give me a 5 star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review? >>> To do a review on: 🍎 Apple >>> Click here >>> https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/im-speaking-with-elizabeth-west/id1589007063 and Scroll to the bottom to Ratings & Reviews. Hello lovelies! Thank you for listening! Get it? 😉 The Fall 🍂 of Unawareness? For the most of my life, what I didn’t know was hurting me. 😖 I found out in the last couple of years that I am in fact an introvert and an HSP (highly sensitive person) and also an empath oh! And that I’m a 🕹Manifesting-Generator in Human Design, that I’m a neurodivergent (I have ADHD) 🧩 and that my Chronotype is a dolphin🐬 >>> which is that I’m a night owl and my peak time of working is in the early afternoons. When I started to find all of these characteristics out about myself and I started to work for vs against myself, I started to love myself vs kick myself and I started to live a more fulfilling life for myself. When I found all of this out, my gut said, “you have to help others with this information, especially those that were in your shoes”! ..."Those that aren’t living their best lives, that are putting themselves last and are trying make everyone else around them happy with the cost of their own happiness". "And those that do know that they’re an introvert for example, to help with knowledge of what this trait means". "That we’re all both extroverted AND introverted and that the only difference between an extrovert and an introvert is in how we recharge". "That we don’t need to apologize for wanting to be alone, that celebrities like Oprah are introverts and that there is nothing wrong it". In fact, those that are trying to make us extroverts or more ‘extroverted’, how we can say to them that we *all need alone time as well, including extroverts. To stop disrespecting who we are, to stop trying to change us and to literally “leave us alone” and unless they want us to try to change them to being an introvert don’t try to change us in being an extrovert. 😤 🎙If this or any of my podcast episodes have helped you in any way -- Would you be so kind to give me a 5 star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review? >>> To do a review on: 🍎 Apple >>> Click here >>> https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/im-speaking-with-elizabeth-west/id1589007063 and Scroll to the bottom to Ratings & Reviews. Hello lovely! Thanks for listening! I have always been a perfectionist, a people pleaser, I’ve been (and am) terrified of rejection, judgement and most of all ‘failure’ eek! 😳😵😲 And this has all kept (and is keeping me) small. Sure, I’ve done some things in life (that to others) have probably looked like I wasn’t playing small but for the most, if not all of my life, (I know deep down) that I was 'dimming my light' and definitely keeping myself small. 😔 I’m looking to put myself out there in general ‘biz wise’ as I’ll get all up in my head, get overwhelmed and end up not doing anything altogether. 😣 Hello ‘analysis paralysis’. So frustrating. 😖 Speaking of putting myself out there, I’m working on some offers in the online biz world to help introverts, Empaths and highly sensitive people to go from selfless to self-love and from depleted 🫠 to dynamic ✨. My first offer will only be $1.00! Why am I so excited for this offer even though it’s only $1.00? Because I'm finally putting an offer out. Some kind of offer vs no offer at all and I am giddy as AH! It will be my 5️⃣ Fave Tips to Conserve Energy as an Introvert, an Empath and a Highly Sensitive Person because we are so, so giving that we pour from an empty cup 🪫😔 and we don’t take the time to refill our cups in the process.🔋🙂 Hello exhaustion, resentment and downright depression. 😳😒😞 Interested in this offer? Hello lovelies! Thanks for listening! I am back! Boy has it been an interesting time off. 🤔 I started with a week off from the day job which was nice. It wasn’t a really time off as I had other pressures to deal with and being a highly sensitive person, any and all ‘pressures’ impact us that much more. 😳 What did I do? I caught up with friends, I watched the Olympics (I ❤️ the Olympics!), I rested mentally, and I thought about next steps 'life wise' and 'biz wise'. I also asked for help and support from friends as something had popped up that took me by surprise. Asking for help really is an act of self-love. 🥰 I felt so supported and that I wasn’t alone in this situation. ☺️ I also took Michelle Rohr’s 30 Day Abundance Adventure course which is really clicking for me. 🥰 Do y’all have money blocks? 💸🚫 We all have some form of them whether we grew up poor or not. I also am looking to putting myself out there and to not play small anymore 😣— more on this on future podcast episodes. 🤓 Michelle Rohr’s website is www.secretowlsociety.com. ‘Say Yes to Desire’ is her community with live Zoom types of calls every month. 🥰 ‘The Abundance Adventure’ is her program that talks about letting our money work for us vs the other way around. 💸 = More 💸💸 Like putting away some money (you can start with $1.00) into a www.Vanguard.com account and it just being there, it accrues more money just by fricken sitting there! Hello lovie! Thanks for listening! Welcome to the Summer of Self-love! 🌞🥰 This is the 7th and last episode in this series! Also, I will be taking a break in August so the next new episode (and season 2) will start in September of 2024! Asking for help is a part of self-love. But why do we as women, we as a society and especially Americans, why do we hate asking for it? 🤔 It’s due to a lot of things… One reason is because we don’t wanna look weak or because we as a society are taught things like “push through”, “get it done” and “no pain, no gain”. 💪🏽🫤 It’s funny because it’s human nature and second nature for us to wanna help others. We genuinely ‘like’ to help others. For example asking someone for directions 🗺 to a place. (Even in this age of smart phones 📱 and online maps.) Nothing can beat a physical map or a person giving you directions in-person. And it’s a win-win! 🏆 The person gets help with directions and you feel good about helping someone! 🙌🏽 It’s why a lot of us love to volunteer! 🥰 We get those feel good endorphins when we do and those that we’re helping are also happy about it. ☺️ The bottom line is…asking for help is a part of self-love. When we don’t ask for help we ‘stop’ others blessings upon us, we make others feel unnecessary and unwanted and we can look ungrateful too. Not to mention the anxiety and extra stress that we put on ourselves in addition! It’s a lose-lose. I talk more about this on my newsletter or my ‘love letters’ 💌 as I like to call them). 😉 Wanna get my newsletter? 📰 Here’s the link to join the list! —> www.westelizabeth.com/newsletter. It’s one of my fave self-help podcasts! Dr. Neeta is such a great interviewer and it’s like magic the camaraderie that she has with all of her guests. Sooo goood and informative! :)
Hello lovely! Thanks for listening! Welcome to the Summer of Self-love! 🌞🥰 In this episode I speak about how I make things easier. For example, pre-cooking and pre-packing my lunch meals for the week (like making a big pot of spaghetti 🍝) and putting it into 5 containers so lunch is packed for the week! All I gotta do is ‘grab & go’ in the morning! Something else that I do is pick out my work attire (from head to toe) for the week or the next few days. This way in the morning I don’t have to think about what I’m gonna wear and what goes with what. And I can just (you guessed it), grab & go’ with my clothes for the day for that workweek! 💞My self-love ‘supplement’ for this episode is: Glennon Doyle’s podcast called “We Can Do Hard Things”. Glennon Doyle (also the author of the amazing book 📖 , “Untamed”) hosts the show with her sister Amanda and her wife, soccer champion, 🏟 Abby Wambach. They talk about things from Asking for help and how it’s bettering their lives to Amanda’s recent cancer scare and all of the feels that come along with it. 🧐:( Wanna check it out —> Here’s the link for it on Apple—> https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/we-can-do-hard-things/id1564530722 | And on Spotify —> https://open.spotify.com/show/0eFL5HJejQHZrdgAFdPnOm?si=tDaX4P3JTh-urBsSgy3FTg. Hello lovely…thanks for listening! Welcome to the Summer of Self-love! 🌞🥰 In this episode I speak about how I started to take on this idea 💡of asking myself if I’ve ‘done my best’ instead of ‘how many tasks I have accomplished on my to-do list’ 📝 and in how changing this question ❓lowered and continues to lower my anxiety and stress to this day. 😌 We can’t do any better than our best y’all so whether we’ve accomplished only a couple of tasks on our ‘to-do’ list or 0️⃣ zero tasks, if the answer is ‘yes’ to “Did I do my best?” then my hope is that we can instead move-on and not continue to kick ourselves 😣for what we did ‘not’ get done on our to-do list. 😏 I talk more about this on my newsletter or my ‘love letters’ 💌 as I like to call them). 😉 Wanna get my newsletter? 🗞Here’s the link to join the list! —> www.westelizabeth.com/newsletter. Hello lovely, thanks for listening! Welcome to the Summer of Self-love! 🌞🥰 A friend of mine named Adrienne gave me this great quote which is “second guessing yourself is self-sabotage”. 😖 We were having dinner or lunch and I started to say something along the lines of “I shouldn’t have second guessed myself!” and she says to me “second guessing yourself is self-sabotage” and it was an ‘ah-ha’ moment for me. 😲 It’s really true. When I’m at work for example and someone asks me a question…almost every time I’ll know the correct answer but more often than not, I’ll second guess myself and proceed to ask a colleague which will have the exact same answer almost word for word that I was gonna say. So frustrating. My colleague looks like a genius and I look like an idiot. It feels like that anyway. 😖 In this Summer of self-love let’s not second guess ourselves if we know in our gut what to do or say already. Let’s listen to our inner child/our instincts/our gut and follow that instead. I think it was on the Oprah show back when it was on regular television (back in the day) where she said, “if you keep ignoring that voice trying to guide you, eventually you won’t hear it or it will get more and more quiet until it goes away”. Hi lovely…thanks for listening! This is a re-released episode from July 3, 2022. I originally titled it "Independence Day?" but later changed it to "Independence Day to Whom?"(Which was my original title.) I ask this question because back in July 4, 1776 (when this later became the United States' 🇺🇸 Independence Day, it only included white men with property). Let's think about this for a second…this would *exclude everyone else. Friendly history reminder: In the US, White women were only able to vote in 1920 and white women couldn't open a bank account until 1974! WTF?!? And we all know people of color couldn't vote until 1964! 😲🤬 It was not that long ago, y'all. And a lot of these liberties 🗽are slowly but surely getting rolled back sad to say. 🫤Roe v. Wade and civil rights to name a couple. Which brings me to this…in the US 🇺🇸we need to Vote 🗳 in the upcoming election on November 5, 2024. I can't believe it's coming up so fast. We need to vote 🗳 up and down the ticket and leave no stone ‘unturned’. And we need to be aware of who our representatives are. We need to do homework too. 📑 We are all busy and our lives keep getting busier but this isn't the time for us to "sleep on this". 😴 In the same amount of time that it takes for us to share or forward a joke or a meme we can share information about our democracy and how fragile it is right now. Hello lovely! Thanks for listening! Welcome to the Summer of Self-love! 🌞 🥰 In this episode I talk about how I’m loving planning “me time” dates with myself. 🥰 I remember years ago, a friend of mine (she was like an older sister and mentor really), she advised me to go to places and to do things by myself and that it’s very empowering (for women especially) to do these things. She talked about things like taking solo trips, 🏖 taking myself out to dinner 🍱 and even to the movies! 🍿 At this time (around 10-15) years ago, this was unheard of for me. 😲 I didn’t wanna look like a "loser" and I didn’t want people giving me the look of pity like I don’t have any friends to go with. Haha! Which brings me to my recent podcast episode 105 titled “What others think of me is none of my business”. 😏 What are ‘me time’ dates? Anything and everything that you love to do and it’s exactly what you wanna do, it makes you feel cozy and it gives you all of the feels. (Hint: And others’ thoughts or judgements aren’t allowed, just yours.) 😉 It should be something that you look forward to, that you feel giddy and excited about and it ‘fills your cup’! 🥛 I talk more about this on my newsletter or my ‘love letters’ 💌 as I like to call them). 😉 Wanna get my newsletter?
