On this episode of "If Not Now When," we uncover the political journey of a true Spokane native, David Condon. Serving as the mayor of Spokane from 2011 to 2019, Condon's story is deeply intertwined with the city's transformative years.
Born and raised in Spokane, Condon's roots trace back to his graduation from Gonzaga Preparatory School in 1992. His educational journey took him to Boston College, where he earned a B.A. degree in Finance and Military Science. The call to serve led him to the U.S. Army, where he rose to the rank of captain before retiring in 2005.
Post-military, Condon's path led him to small business and eventually to the role of deputy chief of staff for U.S. Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers. In May 2011, he took on a new challenge by entering the mayoral race, aiming to bring a fresh perspective to Spokane's leadership. His victory over incumbent mayor Mary Verner marked the beginning of a period of significant change.

The Senske name is synonymous with business excellence in Spokane, with Michael's grandfather, Bill Senske, founding Chemical Weed and Pest Control, now known as Senske Services. This family venture, initiated in 1947, stands today as a trusted and integral part of the region's business landscape.
Michael's educational journey took him from Ferris High School to the University of Washington, where he earned a degree in Psychology. Furthering his commitment to growth and leadership, he completed the Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School.
After college, Michael ventured into the tech world, contributing his skills to Microsoft's Product Services division. However, Spokane's pull was strong, and in 1997, Michael returned to join Pearson Packaging Systems. Climbing through the ranks, he assumed the role of President in 2003.
