Fellow Filipinos, check your calendars! As of July 2021, we still have four million unregistered voters. Will we wait for democracy to be taken away from us before we start to realize the importance of voting right? It is all about collective effort. “What can my one vote do?” The problem does not lie in the candidates. The problem is with the voters. We get the leaders we deserve, so we must be vigilant. Remember, “the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Jaiza, our featured writer in this episode writes more about that in her essay "A voter's dream." | Jaiza's WHY statement is 'to enable ideas to action so that we all live a mission-filled life.' She is an active member of the Singles for Christ, a Patriot, Kdrama addict, Earth warrior, and dignity defender. Her top three life heroes are Jonathan Yabut, Simon Sinek, and Brene Brown.

On this episode, Caitlin, Talya, and Leah talk about the ghost that solved her own murder.
Teresita Basa, an Edgewater Hospital employee, was discovered dead in her apartment in February 1977, with a knife protruding from her chest. After months of inquiry, officers discovered little to no leads, and the case was closed. All of that changed when Teresita's spirit came from the dead in the summer of 1977 to identify her killer.

Marivi is most well-known for her novel The Mango Bride, which will soon be a film produced by and starring MegaStar Sharon Cuneta. Marivi writes, "The Mango Bride offers a personal glimpse into extreme poverty in Manila and what growing up in deprivation can do to someone. The book explains how the mail bride system works horribly and how women who try to escape their misery for a life of dreams sometimes become trapped in a nightmare." We had the chance to initially sit down with Marivi and talk about the inspiration behind her work, which involves interpreting for survivors of domestic violence. In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, she joins IndieCo to talk about she shores up her mental health to deepen her own emotional reservoir for her many roles: as an award-winning writer, as a telephonic Tagalog interpreter, and as a mother, among others.
She has authored 17 books, including The Mango Bride, winner of the Grand Prize at the 2011 Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, the Philippine counterpart of the Pulitzer Prize. A film adaptation is in process. Also being adapted to film is "Pandemic Bread," which was published in The San Diego Decameron Project, an anthology of 100 stories about the Covid 19 pandemic.
