Jannah Beneath Her Feet

Assalamu Alaikum! Welcome to the Jannah Beneath Her Feet Podcast! I am your host, Sana Zakir Hussain, a mom of three young kids and an Islamic Parenting & Homeschooling mentor for Muslim Mums. In this podcast, I along with my guests, will be talking about different aspects of Tarbiyah to nurture our childrens’ Imaan, intellect and Akhlaaq, along with self improvement topics like time management & emotional regulation for mothers. The intention is that this podcast serves as your guide to help you Thrive as a mom of young kids & make the most out of your childrens’ precious years!

Episode 41: Fixing kids’ Big Emotions

As mothers, our first instinct when our child cries or melts down is to fix the problem — to soothe, distract, or offer quick solutions. But what if that’s not what our children really need?In this episode of Jannah Beneath Her Feet, we explore a profound yet simple parenting shift: becoming a container for your child’s emotions. Drawing from the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and modern psychology, we’ll look at why children don’t actually need us to “solve” their problems, but rather to hold space for the big emotions they can’t yet carry alone. You’ll learn:Why dismissing or rushing to fix a problem leaves your child feeling unseenHow the Prophet ﷺ comforted young Abu Umair when his pet sparrow died — a timeless example of emotional presenceThe importance of naming and validating your child’s feelings before moving to solutionsHow your own emotional habits mirror into your parenting — and why self-work is key to raising emotionally intelligent childrenAnd because tarbiyah always starts with the mother, I also share how we dive deep into these topics inside the Holistic Tarbiyah Academy — my four-month mentorship program designed to help Muslim mothers heal, regulate, and thrive in their motherhood while laying strong Islamic foundations for their children. Enrollment for our October batch is now open. Episode 40: Distracted by phone or choosing to get distracted?

“Am I really procrastinating — or am I actually avoiding?”Have you ever found yourself scrolling your phone instead of cooking — only to suddenly jump into the kitchen the moment your child asks you to play? On the outside, it looks like procrastination. But often, it’s actually something deeper. In today’s episode, we’ll explore why this happens. Sometimes it’s simple distraction. Other times, it’s avoidance — a way our minds protect us when we’re overwhelmed. We’ll also talk about how old wounds from our own childhood can affect the way we respond to our kids, and why half-listening or reacting quickly doesn’t give the connection that our children really need.Mama, the answer isn’t just to hide your phone or try harder. Real, lasting change comes from slowing down, healing, and learning to regulate your emotions — so you can respond with presence and compassion. If this is what your heart is calling for, enrollments for the October batch of Holistic Tarbiyah Academy are now open. Episode 39: 5 Habits for Peaceful motherhood.

“Five kids? Three under four? How did you even survive that stage?”As a mum who’s been there, I can tell you — it wasn’t easy. But what carried me through were a handful of habits I built early on, and they still ground me in motherhood today, Alhamdulillah. In today’s episode, I’m sharing the 5 habits that transformed my days as a young mum:Nourishing my body instead of punishing itPrioritizing daily movement in simple, realistic waysWaking up before my kids to pour from a full cupTaking mini self-care breaks throughout the dayAnd intentionally connecting with each child in small but meaningful moments.Mama, you don’t need perfection or long routines to feel calmer and more present. With small, consistent choices, you can create peaceful rhythms in your home — even in the busiest seasons of motherhood. If this episode resonates and you’re ready to embody these habits with consistency, I’d love to support you inside Holistic Tarbiyah Academy — my 4-month mentorship program to help you realign, regulate, and parent with ihsan.https://www.toddlertarbiyah.com/holistictarbiyahacademy Let’s walk this journey of motherhood with peace, purpose, and presence.🎧 Press play & share this with another Muslim mama who needs the reminder!—Connect with Me!🔗Follow me on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/toddlertarbiyah/🔗Go deeper with Sana’s course - Parenting like the Prophets https://www.toddlertarbiyah.com/parentingliketheprophets🔗Sign up for Sana’s weekly Email Newsletter https://www.toddlertarbiyah.com/email-subscribe🔗Check out my private Mentorship, Lead With Lovehttps://www.toddlertarbiyah.com/private-coaching-e5b078da-2b5a-4700-ac9c-c77407f95298

Episode 38: First step to Controlling Anger.

Every mother knows the deep impact her words can leave on her child’s heart. A single phrase spoken in anger — “You make my life so difficult” or “You’re the most terrible child” — can echo for years, carving doubt and pain into a child’s sense of self. And the truth is, no mother wants to pass on shame, trauma, or harshness to her children. We want to nurture them, raise them with love, and model patience and compassion. But in the heat of the moment, anger can feel uncontrollable. So where do we even begin? What’s the very first step to breaking this cycle and showing up with the calm, gentle presence we long to embody? In this episode, I share a simple but powerful reminder: every emotion first shows up in your body. Stress, anger, even joy — they all leave physical traces, whether it’s tense shoulders, clenched jaws, shallow breathing, or that racing heartbeat you know so well. Learning to listen to these whispers of your body before they turn into screams of exhaustion, burnout, or regret is the doorway to emotional regulation. We’ll explore:- Why ignoring your body’s signals leads to emotional outbursts.- Practical ways to ground yourself in the moment — from releasing your jaw to dropping your shoulders.- How stress doesn’t just “live in your head” but is carried in your body.- The spiritual truth that your body is an amanah (trust) from Allah, and caring for it is part of your responsibility.- How regulating yourself is the foundation for co-regulating with your children, because children cannot regulate on their own without you. This is not about perfection. It’s about starting small, with self-awareness, and building the tools to respond with patience rather than react in anger. Because when you learn to honor your body and regulate your emotions, you don’t just change your own experience—you transform the emotional world your children grow up in.✨ Want to go deeper? Episode 34: How to Discipline without shame, guilt or fear.

🎙️ Episode 34: Discipline Doesn’t Mean Punishment — Let’s Relearn It Through the Prophetic LensDo you flinch when you hear the word “discipline”?You’re not alone. Many of us grew up with fear-based discipline — yelling, threats, punishments — all in the name of “teaching us a lesson.”So it’s no surprise that the word discipline feels heavy… even shameful. But what if I told you that real discipline in Islam isn’t about punishments at all?🌿 In this episode, we dive deep into the true, Prophetic meaning of discipline — through one of the most powerful stories in the Seerah: when a Bedouin urinated in the masjid of the Prophet ﷺ.Instead of reacting with anger or shame, the Prophet ﷺ modeled something radically different. And through that story, we explore:- Why most of us parent on autopilot from fear, not faith.- The difference between punishment and problem-solving.- How to gently lead your child through defiance and big emotions.- What your child is really learning from your response — beyond words.💡 Whether your child talks back, ignores you, or keeps repeating the same mistake — this episode will help you reframe those moments through the lens of mercy and learning, not control.✨ Ready to Parent with Prophetic Wisdom? If today’s message hit home — and you’re ready to stop reacting from anger and start responding from love and clarity — I invite you into my private mentorship. This is for the mother who is:- Tired of guilt and yelling- Longing for connection and calm- Ready to raise her children and herself with ihsaanThis is not a parenting course.
