We take you on a journey through the concept of taking responsibility for your feelings, as outlined in NVC. We'll walk you through the three stages of emotional development—starting with "emotional slavery," where you might feel burdened by others' emotions. Then, we'll dive into the "obnoxious stage," where you start to push back, and finally reach "emotional liberation," where you learn to fully own your feelings without putting that weight on others. By sharing our personal experiences, we aim to help you better understand how these stages play out in real life and highlight the importance of recognizing your needs and practicing empathy in your relationships. Although Diagnosis can helpful in some situations, such as medically, we dive into examples specifically within relationships where this way of thinking can lead to disconnection. If the Diagnosis is the focus as we view a person and who they are, this may very well cause judgement and prevent the connection desired. Let's learn how to move beyond disconnection from diagnosis, such as ADHD, codependent, viewing others as narcissistic, or any viewpoint that would be considered a label, and find tools to navigate a more empathetic connection.

Being highly sensitive can be a blessing and a curse. On one hand you can tune into and enjoy a wider range of feelings, sensations and insights and often have very strong intuitions. On the other hand you can be bothered and affected by things that don't seem to phase other people. This can make it challenging to communicate feelings and needs in a way that is both assertive and respectful. NonViolent Communication is a communication framework that can help highly sensitive and intuitive people to communicate their needs and feelings more effectively. It's based on the idea that all human beings have the same basic needs, and that all behavior is an attempt to meet those needs. When we communicate using NVC, we focus on expressing our needs and feelings in a way that is clear, honest, and non-judgmental. This can be a helpful tool for highly sensitive people because it allows them to communicate their feelings without feeling like they're being overreactive or emotional. It also helps to create a more open and understanding dialogue with others. In this episode, we'll discuss the basics of Non Violent Communication and how it can be used by all people to communicate more effectively.
