Life Along the Way

Life is full of big, important moments that require a lot of our attention and preparation. Graduations, weddings, having children, getting that big job promotion. These things can often seem so important that we're sometimes too focused on getting to the next one and we forget to live the life that comes in between. Pastors of Saint City Church, Scott and Charity Cox discuss these events in their own lives and how they are always trying to do better at living Life Along the Way.

16. Bibles & Business

Scott and Charity discuss the small business that they own and operate on a day to day basis and how that business interacts with their full time ministry of Saint City Church. While the business is wholly separate from their ministry, each plays a part in the other. Scott and Charity both try to demonstrate Christian values in business and find every opportunity they can to minister the gospel to others. Life Along the Way is recorded inside the Saint City Center in Lebanon, IL where Scott and Charity are the lead pastors. 15. Offense & Opposition

Being offended - it happens everywhere, to everyone and can often be the main focus of our attention, so much so that we usually want to share it with others. Maybe even place it on others. Offense takes our energy away from God and places it on hurt and pain. It restricts us and hinders our relationships with others and even with God Himself. In fact, offense is the exact opposite of the very thing that God promises us - forgiveness. Scott and Charity dive head first into this topic on today's episode of Life Along the Way, as they discuss some of their personal encounters with offense and how it has affected their lives. Life Along the Way is recorded inside the Saint City Center in Lebanon, IL where Scott and Charity are the lead pastors. 14. Immorality & Impurity

Galatians chapter 5 talks about what the Bible refers to as ‘works of the flesh’ - the first three being sexual immorality, impurity and sensuality. These three are specifically what Scott and Charity dive into discussion about in today’s episode. Often these works of the flesh present themselves as an internal struggle, so we must lean on God to help us overcome and give us the gifts He truly wants to present us with - the fruits of the spirit. Life Along the Way is recorded inside the Saint City Center in Lebanon, IL where Scott and Charity are the lead pastors. 13. Transformation & Truth

The topic of transformation has been a big talking point in our culture - especially over the last year. With the events that transpired in the last year or so, we have all been given a chance to do some kind of transformation in our lives; whether that’s been physical, mental, emotional or spiritual.  But what really is transformation? It’s not just something you do to change a bad habit or improve a specific quality, but rather a complete change. Becoming something new. Scott and Charity discuss spiritual transformation in this episode of Life Along the Way, and how this type of transformation is a complete change of who you are entirely. Life Along the Way is recorded inside the Saint City Center in Lebanon, IL where Scott and Charity are the lead pastors. 12. Discipleship & Discipline

What is discipleship? We see this word all over the Gospel as “making disciples” was a large part of Jesus’s teachings. But, what did being a disciple of Jesus really look like - and what does it mean to be a disciple in today's world? Scott and Charity discuss this topic, how Jesus modeled it in the Gospel, and how we can apply this to our own lives today. Life Along the Way is recorded inside the Saint City Center in Lebanon, IL where Scott and Charity are the lead pastors. 11. Scripture & S.O.A.P.

Scripture, Observation. Application. Prayer. This is the S.O.A.P model for reading the Bible - a way that helps us truly study, interact with, and live out scripture on a daily basis. Scott and Charity discuss S.O.A.P. in this episode of the Life Along the Way, and what this type of Bible study and application means to them. They are currently walking their church through a Bible study in this way, and hope that this podcast can help give more meaning behind this practice. Life Along the Way is recorded inside the Saint City Center in Lebanon, IL where Scott and Charity are the lead pastors. 10. Edification & Enchiladas

Scott and Charity play a game to help them celebrate their tenth episode of Life Along the Way. They discuss their own weaknesses while praising the strengths of the other, and talk about how it’s important to edify one another in a marriage while it’s also okay to laugh at their own weaknesses. Each person is uniquely created by God, and when it comes to relationships, understanding your partner's strengths and weaknesses along with your own can help make a lot of things easier along the way. Life Along the Way is recorded inside the Saint City Center in Lebanon, IL where Scott and Charity are the lead pastors. 9. Fighting & Fairness

Conflict is a natural part of relationships, and something that should not be avoided or seen as a negative thing. Dealing with conflict - when done in a healthy and productive way - can strengthen a relationship by addressing issues before they are given a chance to take root and cause deeper problems. In this episode, Scott and Charity discuss conflicts that have occurred within their own marriage and how they have dealt with these in ways to grow their relationship - a strategy they refer to as “fighting fair”. Life Along the Way is recorded inside the Saint City Center in Lebanon, IL where Scott and Charity are the lead pastors. 8. Dumpsters & Dads

Teamwork is a necessary part of parenting - especially when you're parenting four crazy kids under the age of nine. Scott and Charity discuss how they tackle the task of parenting their children together, and what it takes to maintain a healthy relationship and good communication along the way. Sometimes what parents need is a time to step back and recharge, which may not always look the same to each parent as Scott and Charity discover while retelling this particular story. Life Along the Way is recorded inside the Saint City Center in Lebanon, IL where Scott and Charity are the lead pastors. 7. Seasons & Sanity

Scott and Charity continue their conversation from last week about starting their family. Specifically, they discuss how quickly and unexpectedly their family grew, and what kind of challenges that presented them as parents. In less than a year they changed from being parents to one baby to becoming parents to three babies. As to be expected, this new season of life that they had entered into wasn’t easy, but they learned  how to walk through it together and really appreciate the blessing that is their family.  Life Along the Way is recorded inside the Saint City Center in Lebanon, IL where Scott and Charity are the lead pastors. 6. Heartbreak & Hope

Scott and Charity talk about one of the most difficult times they have walked through in their time together - their journey to starting a family. After a difficult time of waiting for a child, they were met with a tragic moment of heartbreak. Struck with immense grief, they looked to God for guidance and from this heartbreak they were finally able to find Hope. The toughest times in our lives can often tempt us to doubt our faith, but if we have patience and trust in the Lord’s timing, these times can turn into great blessings. Life Along the Way is recorded inside the Saint City Center in Lebanon, IL where Scott and Charity are the lead pastors.
