In this episode I break down the difference between motivation and inspiration and why we need to look to inspiration for a sense of drive, wellbeing and fulfillment. Inspiration ignites the soul and keeps the flame burning long after the effects of motivation have worn off. If we are to thrive in 2021 and beyond, we need inspiration. And where do we get it? Well you can be inspired by others but the best way is to inspire yourself. Because when you are intrinsically driven, you will have lasting energy to express that motivation cannot give you. So if you were lacking motivation in 2020, perhaps it's time to shift gears and become inspired. I discuss in more detail in this episode on the importance of inspiration and how to be inspired!
Happy New Year with a new podcast episode!
In this episode I am sharing about the concept of Self Actualization, which I believe is the Ultimate aim in life.
This can be achieved through different methods, and taking on physical fitness challenges is one of many ways to reach this state.
It is a great way to develop your spiritual side and becoming aware of your oneness with God, which is beyond where the mind and body can take us
I believe it is important to explore our spiritual nature to gather a true sense of self and experience a greater quality of life
Success is a science but fulfilment is an art. In this episode I share three ways to have fulfilment and growth in your fitness journey. With greater overall fitness, health and wellbeing, you live a better quality of life. I share about The importance of purpose and why it matters to have something bigger than yourself that drives you. I discuss progress, how to measure it and how important it is to your awareness of your potential by seeing how far you have come rather than how far you have to go. Along with progress is the process. Embracing the journey is where the glory is. Having a destination point is important but we don't want to delay our happiness by neglecting the journey for some future ideal. Happiness and fulfillment can be obtained now. Finally, for those of faith, put God first. When you do, everything falls in place!
Many people get into fitness for the sake of wanting to look better, learn how to move better, lose some weight or build muscle etc. These are good reasons to start and can be very motivating for a while but they are superficial and will only give us short bursts of motivation. It is the deeper reasoning of why, that will inspire us and give us the drive to persist especially when it gets hard. Our perception and our beliefs shape our behaviour around nutrition and exercise. And those behaviour lead to the results we experience.
In this episode I dive in to the perceived physical, mental and spiritual benefits of consistent and intense fitness training. I share some insights on how to view your fitness journey and how to look at it from a better perspective that gives meaning to why you do what you do. And when you have meaning behind it, it empowers you to better yourself mentally, physically, spiritually.

Is your fitness journey a phase or is it a life long pursuit?
In this episode I share some insights and strategies for helping you develop a long term approach to your fitness training.
I believe that we all have a purpose for pursing our potential and challenging ourselves with physical movement just slightly beyond our current capability. However, training hard and often can become addictive. If you chase that high in order to fulfil you, you may just be heading down the path to burnout and exhaustion. If you have experienced this recently, it may give you clarity on what you do want.
I believe fitness is for everyone and that we can, and should all pursue our ideal version of fitness, for it is then we do it for the right reasons. Falling in love with the process is key for staying in the game long term. So listen up and enjoy this episode along with many more to come!

When it comes to your potential, do you think of the possibilities? Often times we only look at the upside of potential and entertaining our ability . But have you ever considered the downside, or dark side to your capabilities? In this episode I go deep into discussing the capabilities of self destruction and how anyone is capable of succumbing to something less than they may have imagined. We have seen it in people we admire and respect for their achievements and success in life. How they manage to lose everything. If it can happen to them, it can happen to you.
We all have good intentions but we do not always follow through. And when we feel bad about ourselves that is where it can lead to a downward spiral. We can start doing unhealthy things inside of our fitness, our nutrition lifestyle, relationships, career or business that we never thought we would succumb to.
Temptation is something that can take us for a ride on the wild side and that is where we fall short or our potential. Because if we are capable of such amazing things in our fitness, our lifestyle, relationships and business, so are we capable of destroying it. it is great to be aware of this so we don't get fixated on one side of our capability. Acknowledge what we are capable of, both good and bad, accept it and be real with yourself. From there, it is a matter of being mindful of your thoughts and actions and what they will amount to in the future.
When someone does you harm or interferes with your personal space, how do you handle it? We have all been there where we have dealt with an offence in the moment, whether it be a verbal of physical confrontation. Whether it be theft, threat of physical harm or what have you. And in that moment is an opportunity for retaliation or escape. To fight or flee. But in my case, I would often 'freeze' And I would beat myself up about it later.
Growing up as a male surrounded by peers, there is the pressure to fight back, to pay evil for evil, to prove your manhood. It is also taught in society as a way to stick up for yourself. In my Christian faith and through Martial Arts, I have learned that it is an immature way to deal with it, just as beating yourself up for not retaliating is. They are both mistakes and I have learned the power of forgiveness but also the contentment and composure in the moment to walk away or to discuss the issue with the other person like a mature adult. Like a true warrior, who doesn't feel the need to fight back or beat themselves up about it later, you are in control of your emotions.
I share about how my quest for Confidence lead me into Martial Arts and Fitness to pursue personal excellence and contentment with myself. I share about haw I have learned about how God takes what the enemy means for evil and he turns it for good. In other words, when we retaliate we are trying to do God's work. God repays evil for evil and does it in a loving way where justice is always to be done. And if you have the courage to let go and forgive your enemies and yourself, you learn that there are no enemies, just people that are hurt and scared like you may be. And the healing that God can do through people is amazing, even you!
In This episode I interview a man by the name of Andrew Logan from Australia. He is a health and wellness enthusiast, practitioner of Crossfit with a sports therapy background, who is also a financial and business expert leading a global health and wellness business in network marketing. Andrew shares about some simple yet valuable mental tools for success in your health, fitness performance, financial, business and relationships. One strategy he shares is the concept of imbalance, an offset strategy to move the needle forward towards your goals.
One takeaway message from this interview is that The pursuit of freedom, (what that means to you) is often a boring, dull journey but one where the results are well worth it. Whether you want to have a summer body, be a better athlete, have a great relationship or financial standing, the process is what counts if you want the results. You don't have to wait until everything is perfect to start. Just starting with the building of the habit and the perfection will take care of itself!
This episode is all about becoming the best version of yourself you can be without getting caught up in trying to be the best amongst others.
When it comes to success in any pursuit, we like to scope out the competition and see what we are up against. And from there, create a game plan and a strategy to become "The" best. In this process, if you are not careful, you can lose your sense of self and miss out on the personal satisfaction from becoming your best. It happens a lot where there's an endeavour like a sport with a competitive element to it. And that competitive atmosphere can be really exciting to engage in. To see how well you stack up with others, however, when you start living so competitively, you compare yourself to others and use it to measure how successful you are. This doesn't just occur in sports or recreations but in life overall.
If you base your success on the typical societal model you may get a boost of comfort and security but you may likely be unfilled. Success is rather quite individual to the person. And when you identify your personal model of success and what it means to you, you can live the way you choose without subordinating to others. You can stay in your lane and be confident with the direction you are going.
After all, it is not about becoming 'The' best, but about becoming 'Your' best, and with that, you may just end up better than the rest even if it wasn't your intention!
When you're a man down, it's time to man up! In this episode I talk about the challenge I was faced with work and how my fitness journey with Crossfit training helped me become stronger and better. When work or life situations get tough, it is easy to see it as an obstacle in your life to your dreams and goals. But with the right attitude and mindset, you see how you can use your current environment, your situation to your advantage. In this case, I took my labor intensive job and turned it into a prime training ground for my fitness pursuit. I take the opportunities to move, lift and carry more and actually enjoy it more. It is because of my desire to fulfil my physical potential that made me see the this situation as something 'on the way' rather than 'in the way'. To sum it up, three great reasons to get fit: To make life easier, to make life more enjoyable and it makes you more useful. And it is not just your physical condition that improves, but your mindset and attitude towards life and how you handle what life has to present to you each day!
In this episode I am interviewing a young lady, Holly Finucan, who has had some psychological battles that lead her down a dark path in her teen years and in her 20's. After being in and out of treatment centres, being put on psychotropics, she had enough and was determined to take back control of her life.
Later on, Holly discovered reiki, an ancient healing art that helps release energy from the body. She talks about how the problem with psychotherapy and mental health specialties only deal with the mind, and according to Holly, trauma is stored in the body. And so with her holistic approach, she helps women bring out their inner child and live their best life through her life coaching program and her reiki practice. Her message is that if we can heal ourselves, we can heal others and when that happens, the world can heal.
It is easy to get caught up in selfish ambition when it comes to your pursuit of athletic performance and you question your motives. In this episode I am speaking with my friend Jacob Chinyaradzo, a young aspiring professional athlete with a love for God. He shares how he is developing in his spiritual journey and learning to use his talent and gifts a means to serve others. Through his journey with Fitness and Faith, he shares how merging the two together gives what he does as an athlete more meaning, purpose and fulfilment. So far Jacob has developed in strength, refined his character and is more inspired to help others through their journey mentally, physically and spiritually.
Ever wonder where we get inspiration from? It could be a movie of an underdog overcoming adversity and defeating an opponent. For many people, what motivates them are the naysayers who criticize them for their dreams, goals and pursuits. I have carried that mentality for some time and I'm sure you have as well or still do. However, when it comes to proving others wrong, the motive is often times to get other's approval and that is a dangerous motive. For the most part, no one really cares what you do and even if you achieve your dream or goal, those people will have forgotten about it anyways. So your accomplishments will have no real fulfilment behind them.
Rather than prove others wrong, prove yourself wrong. After all, the greatest critics in our lives are those voices inside our heads that like to talk us out of great opportunity, accomplishment. When you say you can't do something for whatever reason you have, prove yourself wrong. Put it to the test. No one cares about your success and fulfillment like you do. I have found that proving yourself wrong is the most inspiring thing you can do. You inspire yourself by proving yourself wrong and when you do, you don't really care what others think of you. Be your own hero in your life and your own coach by encouraging self talk. Empower yourself to step into your potential and overcome your own adversity. And when you do, you will inspire others as well!
We can all identify with our strengths and weaknesses but what is more important is seeing the strength in our weakness and vice versa. In this episode I am discussing the concept of finding strength through the struggle and by how changing your perception of a weakness, you can start to live into your potential. Rather than look at what's wrong with you, look at what's strong about you. And that means actually looking at your weakness from a different angle. There is strength somewhere and it is out of your struggle you find it.
There is also this concept of focusing on your strengths and letting go of your weaknesses. I suggest striving to overcome your weakness instead and explain why in this episode. By becoming aware of what is strong about you while focusing on the areas you may be weaker in and developing them makes you a more well rounded, balanced person. And it is in the process of doing so, you become aware of how strong you are by overcoming. It leads to confidence and mastery over yourself. Embody these two approaches and you will become unstoppable!
It is not the strongest that survive as much as it is those who are able to adapt especially in these changing times! In this episode I am discussing the benefits of adaptogens, a unique blend of herbs grown in the wildest climates. They are known for their resilience and have amazing effects on the mind and body. They are really nature's answer to stress because they help our body combat the negative effects of stress and keep us resilient, healthy, alive and strong. They are known for the aid of natural energy production in our body while keeping us calm and so we can thrive in life situations that can be demanding. Because we cannot avoid stress but we can sure find ways to adapt to it and nutrition is one way. Support your Wellbeing and your mental and physical performance with adaptogens!
In this episode I speak with a friend of mine Cindylou Barclay who shares about her life transformation through her journey with Christ. She shares about her life growing up and the challenges she faced with a sense inferiority. After a destructive marriage in her 40's, she turned to alcohol to cope with her wounds. As a divorced Mother, she was spiraling downhill and her her health was being severely compromised. She was labelled with various mental disorders on top of that and was sent in and out of treatment centres and hospitals.
Despite the life threatening health issues due to the alcohol toxicity, something inside her kept her alive. She knew there was a higher power working through her. She was invited to a Church in Waterloo, ON where discovered Jesus and fell in love. She devoted her life to serving the Lord and developing an intimate relationship with him. Her journey has helped her see her past in fresh eyes and how God was there all along to keep her alive for His purpose for her.
Today, Cindylou is taking more care of her health and honouring the body and following her calling in missions. She has now completed several missions trips in Africa. At the age of 50, she discovered a talent in the arts and has used that to promote God and to troubled youth in the less fortunate areas. She has been blessed with incredible experiences and watching how God uses her to transform people's lives. She is partnered with SIM Canada, which is a Missions based organization and are recently developing an arts mission program that she is taking part of this year.
Because times are changing and rapidly, to me more adaptable mentally and physically is essential. In this episode I am sharing about how Crossfit will help you develop a level of strength, adaptability and resilience that will benefit your overall success in these changing times. What I have discovered in practicing Crossfit is how the sport makes you more adaptable because of the variety of simple and complex, functional movements. They give you a feeling of self confidence, empowering you to handle any new situation in life. And over time, the workouts in their unique combination creates an incredible physique and one that is very functional for the benefit of everyday life.
Crossfit workouts consist of different movements derived from different sports. Things like heavy compound, olympic style exercise, combined with gymnastics, and track and field that challenge our strength, endurance, metabolic threshold etc. and they are fun. You could be doing power snatches for reps then go immediately to doing sprint intervals with ring dips for example, all for time which triggers different muscle fibre types, creating new muscle development. The workouts are most often held in a gym where the workouts of the day are laid out and lead by a qualified instructor. And unlike planning your workouts and knowing ahead of time what you will be working on, you show up knowing very little of what's in store, so theres little time to prepare. This keeps you on the edge and engaged with the unpredictability.
Crossfit is not all intended to kill you but to drive you beyond what you perceive you can handle. And when you go through it with a group of people who support and challenge you through it, you develop a level of strength, resiliency and most certainly, adaptability, but also community. You feel a sense of belonging, which is most certainly important in today's day in age!
In this episode I am talking about setting the right goals for you and what that means to your overall success and fulfillment. Goals are great and we should be setting them and laying out a sound plan to reach them. However, when it comes to results obtained, many fall far short of reaching their goals. This causes many psychological issues that discourage people from even bothering with goals anymore. It can cause people to resent themselves and destroy their self image. We have to be mindful of the goals we set and have the mental capacity to deal with the process and not just get tied to a result. A fantasy with no strategy is useless and can even be detrimental especially if they are those big bold audacious goals we are taught to set by self proclaimed experts.
A lot of people have experienced the pain of what they perceive as failure in the pursuit of achievement. I lay out several main reasons why we fall short of our goals and why we stop chasing them. We must know what the right goals are for us. They have to mean something and we need a solid reason that aligns with who we are if we are to pursue it. And like anything worthwhile pursuing, goal reaching will come with it's set of challenges that will tempt us to throw in the towel. On, the other hand, there are goals we set that are not worth our time and effort but we like to think they are. All in all, the right goals are great because they cause us to grow and it is in the growing, not the getting that makes the pursuit of something better worthwhile.
In this episode I talk to a young entrepreneur Cody McGriff who, for a young guy, shares his knowledge and experience with business and people. He currently has a small business called Firewood Fury with a small handful of employees. He is a very proficient learner who learns from mentors and reading books. His mind is full of knowledge that has helped him get to where he is today. And now, Cody is becoming quite a presence on Social Media. He is branding himself as a fear coach for the most part as well as business coaching. He is not afraid to look silly in the process because he knows what it takes to succeed and he is leading by example. With his social media presence, he shares about how to overcome fear mainly in the area of starting a business and trying new things. His diversity makes him really a jack of many trades which is making him into quite the value to the marketplace and he is showing others how to be the same.
