Our Moral Foundation

Our Moral Foundation

2019-09-15--:--

This weekend we continued our series in Ephesians looking at a more practical direction in the life of a Christian. In our world, ethics can be a moving target. Paul directs us to live our lives holy and righteous, but Paul bases his ethics upon a very important source. Together we examined these concepts.
Dealing with Anger

Dealing with Anger

2019-09-08--:--

This weekend we had the honor of continuing our series in the book of Ephesians. We turned the corner into chapter four where Paul changes his direction from exalting who God is and who he has made us to be, to how we should live in light of these facts. Chapter four focuses on choices and attitudes that should reflect our Christian journey. We will looked at how God, through Paul helps us with our anger and attitude.
Paul's Prayer

Paul's Prayer

2019-09-01--:--

Today we continue our series in the book of Ephesus by looking into the powerful finish of chapter three. We’ve seen the power of an invitation to join team Jesus. He chose us to adoption, redemption, forgiveness and new life. We’ve looked at God’s plan to bring wholeness and unity to every part of this world. We’ve witnessed the Ephesian church receive Holy Spirit and the call for love and unity among the diversity of the Jewish and Gentile believers. Chapter three ends the first half of the book with a powerful prayer and a hymn of praise. Let us dive in to be strengthened and loved.
Unity in Diversity

Unity in Diversity

2019-08-25--:--

This week we continued our walk through Ephesians as we visited Ephesians 2 as Paul addresses the culture clash that was happening in the church. We looked at Paul’s solution to bringing unity to the Ephesian congregation as we welcomed Pastor Nate Boven, Revolution Youth Pastor to the pulpit.
Holy Spirit Baptism

Holy Spirit Baptism

2019-08-18--:--

This weekend we continued on our series in Ephesians, as Pastor Rachael shared about the difference between baptism in water and the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Do you have a bucket list? What's on it? The Apostle Paul had a bucket list too. You can tell a lot about Paul by what he wanted to accomplish in his life as well as his desires. One desire was to see believers live out the gospel to it's fullest. To accomplish that, he urged any person who called themselves a disciple of Christ to seek out the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
This weekend we continued walking in Ephesians by looking at the powerful statements of chapter two. Paul moves into a declarative statement about who we are in the midst of the world we live in. Identity is fundamental to who we are. Paul paints the correct picture of who we were and what we are. We explored the difference Christ makes in a life.
Unity In Christ

Unity In Christ

2019-08-04--:--

This weekend we resumed our series walking through the book of Ephesians as we looked at God's ultimate plan. What is God up to? What is God's will? These are important questions that we all ask from time to time. In Ephesians chapter one, Paul makes it clear what Jesus is up to. He is bringing everything under his authority. He is bringing unity to all things. We looked at how sin fractures and disintegrates things and how Jesus makes them a coherent whole today!
In Christ

In Christ

2019-07-21--:--

This weekend we continued our series on Ephesians by exploring what it means to be "in Christ." One of big themes of the book is unity. God's plan is "for the fullness of time to unite all things in him—things in heaven and things on earth." If we are "in Christ," God will take our fractured, fragmented lives and bring wholeness and unity to the various strands. God has made provision to invite us into his family through adoption, redemption, forgiveness, and holiness. When we reverse the order and simply invite Jesus into "our" world, we miss the bigger point that God is inviting us into his world. We explored these ideas.
This weekend, we welcomed Pastor Jimmy Stanton to the pulpit as he opened our new series, The Faithful. A Journey Through Ephesians. Unlike other letters Paul wrote that focused on doctrine and church discipline, Ephesians conveys a rich overflow of revelation out of Paul’s personal prayer life. Our focus was on the first verse and what it means to be the Faithful or Christians, “In Christ.” To be, “In Christ” changes everything individually and corporately as the body of Christ, the church.
This weekend we continued our series on Identity. God created us to bear his image wherever we go. Our lives will only be fulfilled if we live them in line with how we were made. That’s why identity is such an important question to answer: Who am I? What am I? What makes me? What makes me significant? We explored the gifts and talents God has invested in us to make the world more like heaven.
Who Are You

Who Are You

2019-05-26--:--

Identity is the fundamental question of life and meaning. Even beyond the macro events that shape the broader narrative, we have our inner world. This world is most important to us, because, well, it’s us. How are we to navigate our life? How are we to experience the best? How are we to walk through pain? How am I to live my remaining years? What will make me a success? Why am I on the planet? How can I make the most of it when I leave? These and many more questions have their answer rooted in identity. How we answer these questions, will determine the substance of how we see ourselves and how we live up to that picture. This weekend we discussed the most important aspect of who you are. Everything flows out of the image.
The Cross

The Cross

2019-04-07--:--

This week we continued our series walking through the passion week of Christ. We have journeyed through the garden, the stone pavement and the inner rooms of Pilate's house. Finally, we come to the cross; that symbol of our faith that means so much to so many. What was God doing on the cross? Why did this symbol of death become a symbol of life for so many? We will explore these themes today.
The Pressure of Pilate

The Pressure of Pilate

2019-03-31--:--

This week we continued our series on Portraits From the Passion. The last week of Jesus' life gives us great lessons on living life today. Our focus this morning is on the conversation Jesus had with Pontius Pilate. We will look at how we make decisions, handle pressure and process truth. Jesus came to testify to the truth and it is the truth that sets us free. All these are of supreme importance to our lives today.
Today we continue our series called Portraits from the Passion. The Passion of the Christ recounts the last week of Jesus' life. It was the time of his "suffering." We get our English word for "passion" from the Latin, "pati" meaning "to suffer." This week we look at the intermediate places of the passion. Places Jesus was forced to go before the cross. These are places we often over look but most of life is spent there. Today we look at the Praetorium, the Pavement and the Bema. How should Jesus fit into every area and every season of our lives?
This week we began a new series called Portraits of the Passion. There’s nothing more central to Christianity and to life than what you do with the question of the deity, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We will take the next four weeks and look at four powerful moments of the Passion (suffering) of Christ. We will start in the garden of Gethsemane where Christ encounters a clash of wills and battles through to his destiny.
Are We Ready

Are We Ready

2019-03-10--:--

This weekend, we welcomed Pastor Rachael Jenneman to the pulpit. God has blessed Living Hope with a large grant that will help immensely further our next steps toward our new church building. But with a new building comes new people. Different people. Are we ready? All throughout the Gospels, we see people such as the Pharisees, the disciples, family members, and the crowd of followers wanting to keep broken people away from Jesus. Whether it was due to inconvenience, jealousy, or breaking of tradition, we at Living Hope want to be a church that continues to love people with passion and action. Are you ready?
Leaving a Legacy

Leaving a Legacy

2019-03-03--:--

Caleb set up the next generation to succeed. His daughter and son in law looked to live out their father's vision of stewarding the land given to them and becoming leaders in their generation. This weekend we finished our series on Caleb by looking at his legacy and how we can leave our own generational legacy for our posterity.
External Territory

External Territory

2019-02-24--:--

As we near the end of our journey with Caleb. We have learned that Caleb operated with internal convictions that aligned with God’s reality. These convictions guided him internally and resulted in the taking of external territory. Taking territory in a New Testament sense ultimately means the human heart. External territory points to those who are living apart from God. God calls us to go into all the world and proclaim his truth in love to all people. It’s easy to withdraw from that role in today’s social environment, but through serving others in love and wisdom we will have access to the hearts of those who desperately need the Savior.

Good morning!! I've been listening to Living Hope's sermons on Castbox for about a year, but within the last month or two, I get an error message when I try to listen. I can download, but as soon as I try to play it says, "Something's wrong with the file." ☹️
