Description
Most Fashionable Crime is not what you would typically find when you check out the true-crime genre because it does not recount the gruesome details of murders nor does it take an investigative approach. The podcast explores fashion-related stories that focus on crime. Each season at this point will be themed and the first theme is thievery. Come back every Monday for these fashion focused true crime stories. Don't worry about the 10-episode season, bonus episodes will be released monthly and sometimes twice a month between seasons.

Last episode of the season! In this episode, I briefly discuss the rise and fall of John Galliano.

This episode marks my very first video podcast. I wanted to try something new and since this episode is very visual, I figured it was the right time to test it out. In this episode, I continue where I left off on Patrick Kelly and discuss some racist scandals of luxury fashion houses like Prada, Gucci, and Dolce & Gabbana.

This is not what you think at all. Patrick Kelly was definitely not a criminal. I hope this isn't your first time hearing of Patrick Kelly, but if it is I hope you enjoy hearing about some of his short-lived story.

Talk about problematic. When it comes to mess, Dolce & Gabbana are the gift that just keeps giving. Their actions and words have caused harm and I mention one scandal in particular in this episode as well as tax evasion.

NOTE:
The mentioning about a "womanly body" was by Madonna in the 1990's. A womanly body is any body occupied by a woman.

Zoe Kravitz caused quite the stir over the Oscars. She didn't win anything, but she reminded many people and exposed people to the scandals of one of her closest friends, Alex Wang.
For the majority of this episode,
Alexander Wang = Company
Wang = The Person

Part Two of House of Gucci covers its downfall... well sort of. As you're probably aware, Gucci is still around and thriving, but it almost wasn't. Listen to this episode to find out why.

Coco Chanel was able to bring her business to life because of love and she almost ruined the legacy of the Chanel brand due to love. She is best known for revolutionizing womenswear, but has a dark past that many tried to keep secret.

Happy Valentine's Day! The first episode of Most Fashionable Crime, a fashion-related true crime podcast, will debut NEXT Monday, February 21st, 2022. I know I said it would be today, but it's worth the wait. The theme of this season is HOUSE and I am so excited to tell you the stories behind some of the biggest fashion houses.
I hope you all love this season as much as the last season. This season will be better. I have a better recording set up so the audio should be a lot better.

In the last bonus episode of the first season, the rise and fall of Mossimo, the brand, is discussed. How does this fit into a "fashionable crime", well to start the company was built off of a lie.

Whether you realize it or not, the majority of us fashion ourselves. According to Wikipedia, Self-fashioning, a term introduced by Stephen Greenblatt, is used to describe the process of constructing one's identity and public persona according to a set of socially acceptable standards. You curate your in-person and digital person and while you may not be an influencer or content creator, you probably have developed a persona. In this bonus episode, I talk about what is probably the biggest true crime story of the year. I didn't want to frame this as, "you never know what's happening behind the perfect pictures" because that is common knowledge and that doesn't really help anyone because most people put on their best face for the internet.
I explore if this was just a case of "missing white woman syndrome", but I think there was a lot more to why her story received so much attention. I appreciated that Gabby received widespread media attention and that various agencies acted quickly on her case. Unfortunately that is not the case for all missing and murdered people. While she was not found alive, I have seen her loved ones advocate for other missing people since her death. I linked below some resources, please feel free to reach out to me if you think an organization or resource should be added.

In 2016, Khloe Kardashian/Good American “borrowed” catsuits from d.bleu.dazzled, a fashion company founded by Destiney Bleu. Did Khloe and Ko. steal the design? Listen to find out.
This is the last episode of the season! In this video, I talk about stolen fashion designs. I start off with what a reference is versus what a copycat is. Sometimes a designer will reference their past works like Olivier Rousteing or the designs of a former designer or creative director at the same company.

In the ninth episode of the first season, I talk about wage theft. In the episode I focus on how garment workers are exploited due to fast fashion. Clothes are a necessity, but the people the construct our garments are not respected nor are they valued by most.

In this episode, I give you some fashion history and leave you off with a fashion question. Do you think the blue-lavender ball gown was stolen, gifted, or forgotten?
This episode is a little bit different because one side thinks a housekeeper stole a $150,000+ gown, but the police decided that she didn’t steal the gown.

Most Fashionable Crime is fashion true crime podcast.
As with most of this season, there is a lot going on. Stealing in plain sight led to the FBI crossing the Rio Grande to retrieve stolen items, some of which were unknown to be lost to the public.
I didn't title this episode the name of the thief because it seems like the people he affected most, want him to move forward in life.
This story about Tom Brady getting back two of his Super Bowl championship jersey.
In the episode, I mentioned CTE being a catalyst for some of the harmful actions that people do, but I don't want it to seem as if I am disregarding the people behind those actions and saying that CTE is the only reason for those actions and behaviors. That is not what I meant, but my point did not come across well in the opening. What I was trying to convey is that there are still people behind those decisions and I wonder if there is a link to the behaviors since it is so common.
