Today on Out of the Box, we have Morgan, Kate, and Lachlan from Melbourne dream pop band Acopia! While the definition of Acopia is a patient's inability to cope with activities of daily living, the band is anything but. Their newest album “Blush Response” stews in melancholy and illuminates the beauty in darkness. Blending trip-hop and indietronica, it's a natural addition to their gorgeous discography. Coming off a whirlwind tour, touring all over Europe, the UK, and Australia, they join us here on the show. This episode was produced and edited by Nick Hibbs. Out of the Box is recorded at the fbi station in Redfern, which is on unceded Gadigal Land. We pay our respects to Gadigal elders past and present and recognise the ongoing colonial violence committed across this country. Joining us today is everyone’s favourite gentle giant, rapper and now, R&B aficionado, Tahkoe! A nominee at the 2024 fbi SMAC Awards for Next Best Thing, what you see is often what you get - tall and lanky bars delivered straight from the heart, often over lush rap beats. Collaborating with the area’s finest, including emjaysoul, Station Hayds, and SOLLYY, he’s galvanised his image on the Western Sydney scene. Most recently, Tahkoe has switched gears with his latest record ‘wayward.’ and even newer single, ‘FiNE LUViN’, exploring new territory. The album boasts neo-soul and alternative R&B influences through a more vulnerable than ever perspective, while the single fuses this new sound with his more familiar soul-rap. This episode was produced and edited by Nick Hibbs. Out of the Box is recorded at the fbi station in Redfern, which is on unceded Gadigal Land. We have a very special guest on the show today - it’s everybody’s favourite socialite, influencer, and stylist - Lynn Harries! We chat Sex and the City, where not to be seen in Sydney this summer, and of course – Lana Del Rey. Living and breathing fashion, his work styling with brands such as Dinosaur Designs, have galvanised his impact on the Australian fashionscape. Lynn has also made a name for himself commentating on life in the Eastern Suburbs. He dissects what makes Sydneysiders tick - whether it be an overpriced dining experience, or a new hole-in-the-wall dessert place you wait hours in line for. We have a very special guest on the show today. He’s a Western Sydney rapper, producer, and filmmaker, and member of the Full Circle collective. Pushing the envelope with every release, his newest EP ‘The New Film Star’ came out a few days ago and has flipped the script once again.  Reading like a blockbuster film at the box office, it tells a tale of self-doubt and external prejudices as a mixed-race artist. In the process, he creates an expansive, signature sonic universe. Joining us in the studio today, is none other than Zion Garcia. This episode was produced and edited by Nick Hibbs.
