Visiting Wood Island

Visiting Wood Island

2025-08-1236:39

We began Season 2 by interviewing bestselling author JD Barker and spoke with him regarding his upcoming novel (now released) "Something I keep Upstairs." We learned this small island located off the coast of Kittery Maine has a tragic past... having been used as a quarantine zone for those affected with Yellow Fever in the late 1800's and early 1900s. It was also the site of a water rescue station. Why a rescue station? Because those waters are notoriously dangerous and have caused many lives to be lost throughout the last century. Local rumors are plentiful about the hauntings that occur on the isle. It was this history and legends which spurred JD to write his newest novel as he routinely saw the island during his morning runs.As a bonus after the interview, JD arranged to have Paranormal Patrol attend his book signing party on the island! Yes, Jenny, Frank, Brad, and Iakona had the chance to step foot on this isle and do some investigating themselves during the book release party!!While we were unable to spend the night, we WILL be going back to spend at least a night as even in that short time we had there, we were able to catch some possible activity! So, for our season finale, enjoy our tale of our trip to Wood Island in Kittery Maine! You may have noticed some changes to the people on the microphone, we have some changes we are trying out to maximize listener entertainment and to enable us to generate more content for you so please bear with us as we fine tune our team and our episodes! Join Frank, Brad, Iakona & Nancy (Jenn investigated this location on a different night) as they experience the strange and paranormal events of the famous "Kansas State Penn".Located in Lansing Kansas that dates back to the mid 19th century. The Kansas Constitution authorized the prison in 1859. The land was purchased in 1861, and construction began in 1864, using prison labor. Despite delays due to the Civil War, the main building was completed in 1867, and the facility began accepting prisoners in July 1868.The prison housed numerous infamous individuals, including figures like Emmet Dalton (of the Dalton Gang), Perry Smith and Richard Hickok (Subject in "Cold Blood"), and Harvey Bailey (cohort of Machine Gun Kelly). The prison experienced it's share of riots, escapes, including a notable one in 1933 during a baseball game where Wilbur Undersell kidnapped the warden. Iconic musicians like Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash performed at the facility in the early 1970's.The Lansing Prison stands as a significant historical landmark and has deep roots of haunted and paranormal activity. Our team experienced EVP's and an entity with enough energy to touch lift Brad's hat off of his and thrown to the ground! It was one of our more intense & wild investigation's. Hosted on Acast. Formerly the location of an Odd Fellows hospital and possibly school, This is one of the more recognizable locations in Missouri for Paranormal Enthusiasts. While it has been visited by many popular and famous teams of investigators, Paranormal Patrol has taken up the task of investigating it for ourselves!Join Jenny, Frank, and Brad of the team (Iakona was absent once again due to another vacation or something... can someone please find this guy a job?). Along with them are guests Nancy and Taylor whom our listeners may already be very familiar with. What makes this location special? Aside from the known fact it once belonged to the Odd Fellows Society? You know, the organization that does everything it can to help those in need... but also has a very intense fascination with death. Well, it is now a winery and hotel! It is also a popular location for weddings with its picturesque grounds! But more than that, there is a former member of the Odd Fellows still on site!It seems one of the members was so dedicated to the society, he donated his body to the organization to be used for future rituals. Well, the Odd Fellows are no longer there but his skeletal remains are! Locked in a glass coffin and on display for the public, you can have a glass of wine with the former member! Thinking about it.. he is still there, the building is still there... is he really a FORMER member?Anyway, join the team as they discover there may be much more truth to the hauntings than may have initially been suspected! As always, Listener discretion is advised. The Infamous Farmhouse

Get ready believers and skeptics alike! This week, Paranormal Patrol brings you the episode you've been waiting for - a chilling dive into the infamous Farmhouse.Join Brad, Jen & Frank as they recount their most intense investigation to date. We pushed the limits in this episode to bring you ground breaking evidence on the paranormal that will keep yo on the edge of your seat. This location has deep history that dates back to the mid-1800's. This location was built to support a poor farm community in an undisclosed location in the Mid-West. At the turn of the new century, this location turned into the town's doctors office until the 1940's and that's when it turned into a nursing home. This location stayed a nursing home until the mid 60's and went abandoned from there. There are hundreds of unmarked graves on this site which makes this location the most active investigation for our team to date. Are you brave enough to step inside the most Infamous Farmhouse in America! Please visit us at www.hauntedorigins.comInstagram @paranormal.patrolTikTok: paranormal patrolYoutube: Haunted Origins: paranormal patrol podcast Hosted on Acast. Greetings listeners! I did not get this uploaded on time last night and that is all my fault! Dealing with life things I forgot to schedule this drop. I am totally sorry! That being said, the team returns to the Sallie house in Atchison Kansas. This time bringing along guest investigator Taylor and minus everyone's favorite transplant from Hawaii to the Mid-West - Iakona. Initially we covered Sallie and we talked about individual experiences from before we were a team, this time, the team goes in as one!The events start off pretty quickly at the Sallie house. Frank went in as a skeptic and left as a convert! Does Sallie live up to its reputation? Was Sallie real? What about the doctor? For those that are not familiar with the lore:The Sallie house was built sometime in the late 1800's by Irish Immigrants in Atchison Kansas. Lore says a town doctor lived in that residence and, at some point, a mother brought her ailing child to the doctor's residence / office. The doctor determined the cause of the young child's suffering to be appendicitis which required immediate surgery and began the surgery in the home prior to anesthesia taking effect (some versions say no anesthesia was administered). The young girl would die during the surgery in the home and it is this spirits which is thought to haunt to home today.Made famous in the 90's with television coverage, the then residents, Tony and Deb Pickman experienced objects moving about up to Tony Pickman experiencing scratches on his back. The house is no longer a residence and is a popular spot for paranormal investigators to visit and has been the subject of many shows and podcasts. As always, be aware DISCLAIMER: This show may contain adult language, themes, and situations which may not be suitable for all audiences.  Hosted on Acast. Again, we apologize for the delay. We had an audio issue with the release we intended for last night, we are working to try to make it better. In the meanwhile, we moved ahead in the release queue and are dropping our return to McInteer Villa in Atchison Kansas. If you will remember in season I, we went there with tour and did not have much luck. Now, in season 2, we once again met up with L&M Paranormal to investigate this fabulous location This time however it was just us. No extra ambient noises, no excessive talking or walking about. Just our two teams and a wild night.ALSO!!!! We bring back Tiffany Downing (https://pathlesstakenhypnosis.com) to conduct an experiment! In the lounge are of the home she performs a group hypnosis session in an effort to open up our minds to being more accepting and successful at connecting with spirits! Does it work? I would say, from a personal note, it worked with wild success. Since that night I personally have experienced an increase in sensitivity. In two other investigations I even heard disembodied voices which were later confirmed with audio recording! Let me tell you, I have not been the only one. To be sure though, Tiffany has agreed to try that same experiment in another location.Anyway, sit back, enjoy our return to McInteer and stop by L&M and Tiffany's instagram and websites! Also, be on the lookout for the video on YouTube @HauntedOriginsParanormalPatrol Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Join the Paranormal Patrol as we meet with Stephen and Leslie Shaw UFO Abductee and research enthusiasts, the Shaw's join us to talk about all things UFO. This is a long one people so listen in chunks if you need to! Crazy enough, as long as it is, there was still far more to discuss and we hope to meet back with them to finish our discussion! If you have not heard of the Shaw's before, they authored a fact based book, "Who they are - And what they are up to." If you like details and interesting history, check this one out! Into evolutionary theories? This is also one for you! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Well hell, we are back for season two! Thank you all for being so patient with us but we are back and excited to have this season! Thank you for the interest, thank you for the messages asking when we were returning, and thank you for being part of the Patrol! We kick this season off with an interview with NY Times Bestselling Author J.D. Barker!!!! If you have heard of him before, it may be from his first novel, "Forsaken," which was received with high regard and even attracted the family of the great Bram Stoker to work with J.D. to create "Dracul," the prequel to Dracula written from the notes of the great Bram Stoker. Or, you may have heard of him because of his collaborative works with James Patterson, or his other stand alone novels, or maybe it was from the hype of his books in process of becoming movies!Yes, there is a lot about this surprisingly humble and social author to discover! This time, we discuss his newest novel due to release on May 13th, 2025, "Something I Keep Upstairs," based on an actual location and haunted lore of the place. What's more, J.D. Barker is hosting a contest for listeners to have a chance at winning an overnight stay on the island with three friends! Details here https://woobox.com/vcevs2 and please note, this is an offer outside of Paranormal Patrol Podcast of which we have no control. Now, does staying overnight on an isolated island with a haunted house and a pretty grim history sound appealing to you? Check out that link or go to https://jdbarker.com/ for more info! Please remember, this is an isolated island in New Hampshire you can only reach by ferry... that already sounds like the start of a horror movie right? "Hey, I won this contest to travel to an isolated island and spend the night..." yeap, so enter and win at your own discretion! Again, we cannot stress it enough, this is not our contest! You wanna go to an isolated island for a night of potential fun (torment for others) that's on you... I know we do. But, fair warning, being from an island myself, weather, tides, seasons, etc. all play into whether that ferry can make it to the island so... be warned. Getting there and getting back may or may not be easy... and let's be real... we want you back in one piece... we need our Patrol Family in one piece!Again, thank you for sticking with us and we hope you enjoy our opening episode for Season 2!Oh, before I forget, we are trying to answer the demand for video episodes, so you can watch Brad and I talk with J.D. on our YouTube channel! https://youtu.be/1B5EMNeI3tk Hosted on Acast. Here we are at the final episode of the season can you believe it!?!? The crew, this time Frank, Jenny, Brad, and Nancy, go to Pythian Castle in Springfield, MO.Used both by the Order of Pythia as a care facility for orphans and elderly and later by the U.S. Military as a recovery hospital and POW detainment during WWII, this building is open to the public for tours and overnight investigations. Many visitors report encounters of varying kinds with the paranormal there. Join the team as they try to discover for themselves if Pythian Castle haunted. As always, this episode may contain adult humor, adult language, reference adult situations, references to alcohol, and any other number of potentially triggering messages. Well, we did it again. We have another investigation into a spot we were asked to keep anonymous but that is okay because it is an awesome spot!Brad, a veteran paranormal investigator, joins us for this one! We present to you some EVP's for you to decide for yourself what to believe. This one was done different for sure! Surrounded by trees, an unmarked cemetery on the property which we never located (sun went down), multiple buildings, everything in disrepair. However, we believe it was a fruitful investigation. We caught a few EVPs and provide a sample of one of Brad's previously captured EVP's from this spot.At the end of this recording we also tack on an EVP which we discussed that was probably my favorite, so make sure you listen till the end (or skip there, your choice) and after the toast, see what you think of the EVP.Find us at https://hauntedorigins.comhttps://patreon.com/paranormalpatrol Hosted on Acast. She graciously hosted us in her temple and what began as our delve into Hoodoo turned into a journey into the life of an empowered woman who seeks to pass that empowerment on to those around her. Nicolette is powerful, full of vigor, and a hilarious guest!Priestess Nicolette takes the time to explain Hoodoo to us with explanations for some of the origins, practices, and beliefs. We also lightly tread on other things she is a practitioner of such as Ifa, Burjeria, and her own encounter with the supernatural! She also joins us in our "ritual," of wine during the podcast, although this time we also included rum, which as we discovered, is a part of some of her rituals! For the paying members, she conducts a "Limpia,", an energy cleansing ritual for Jenny! It's that time again! Join the Paranormal Patrol Podcast crew as we discuss the night we spent in McInteer Villa! We brought Tiffany Downing from The Path Less Taken Hypnosis (https://pathlesstakenhypnosis.com) along with us as she proved to be sensitive to the paranormal!Originally erected in the later part of the 1800's by Irishman John McInteer in the City of Atchison Kansas, this "residence," has been through several owners and has reportedly seen its fair share of deaths. Of the significant deaths was that of a man who committed suicide on the second floor by shooting himself in the head with a .22 rifle. Many stories surround this Villa including apparitions, a rocking chair which moves on its own, doors opening and closing, and mysterious reflections seen in the mirrors. If the Town of Atchison sounds familiar, its because the Sallie house is located in the same town only a few miles away.We joined the veteran research group of L&M Paranormal Group who hosted this event. as well as the owner of the Villa and several other guests as well! Come join us as we talk about the McInteer Villa, the ups and downs of investigating with large groups, and our overall experience there! As usual, *** DISCLAIMER: This episode may contain discussions related to violent topics, adult situations, contain adult humor, language, references to alcohol and a myriad of other potentially offensive or disturbing matters. We are still collecting listener stories to be released! Welcome listeners! Lets all join in as Frank undergoes a "live," hypnosis session! Tiffany Downing, certified Hypnotist and owner of The Path Less Taken Hypnosis joins us and explains the process and tries to help clear up some of the mysteries surrounding hypnosis and how it can help a person unlock things within them and strengthen what is already there! Why in the world is this on a paranormal show? Because it's AWESOME! The process, effects, and potential benefits are all what some may consider parascience or pseudo-science to downright hogwash, but if it DOES work for you, what can it help with? Stress? Fatigue? Creativity? Can it help make you more sensitive to paranormal events? Relieve past lives?Guess you're going to have to listen in and see for yourself what Tiffany has to say about it! You can visit Tiffany and book appointments online by visiting https://pathlesstakenhypnosis.com  Also, please note during this session, there are a couple of pro-longed moments of quiet as we allow Frank time to process events and work through the directions he is receiving.ADMINISTRATIVE NOTE: We have experienced some difficulty in the last few weeks with our RSS feed. Join us for our discussion into the Sallie house, famous for the "Sallie Haunting!" Located in Atchison Kansas, this late century home has been the focus of television specials on shows such as Sightings, Ghost Adventures, A Haunting, and probably more than we are aware! During this episode we discuss our historical findings for a fact versus fiction comparison as well as our own individual experiences! All but Jennifer has been to investigate this house at some point! Join in on the poll at the end of the podcast!NOTE  During the episode I say the Atchison county records list the house as being built in 1800, this was a mistake on my part, I meant to say 1900. Clearly I confused Frank for a bit and he followed our conversation better than I did! I blame the wine! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Hello again everyone! Join the Paranormal Podcast Crew as we spend many hours over two days investigating a late 1800's midwestern B&B. Built in the later portion of the 1800's this place has seen it's share of famous guests and a few deaths.Currently under renovation, we received reports of disembodied voices which scared the cleaning crew away. Doors opening and closing on their own, and an overall feeling of unease. For this episode we introduce Nancy, one of our crew and a medical professional (which, as often as we mess up, is nice to have around). This investigation, but not audio, also introduces Brad, a veteran investigator of many years. We are sorry, as much as we would love to use real names and locations, the owner has asked we not use the business's actual details. Out of respect for the owner's wishes, we do not reveal the true name or location of this place.Join us as we discuss our findings and experiences during our time here! Iakona will NOT be joining us for this episode because he decided attending a work conference out of state was more important.WARNING - As usual, this episode may (and will) contain adult content, adult language, references to adult material and alcohol and various morbid topics as well as references to cultural beliefs and practices which may not be currently socially acceptable nor reflect our own opinions. If you have any personal experiences we would love to hear them and possibly read them on air!
