Writing is about listening. Connecting and tuning in. All of this enables the words to come through the body.
“When we only move from the logical mind and we don’t move from the body mind and the heart mind, and we don’t integrate these different parts of ourselves, then it can feel like it’s [writing] taking and not also nourishing us.”
What an incredibly special episode to close the season and the show on. The wisdom and generosity that Toni brings to this episode around the power of language through her embodiment as a listener who listens through writing, poems, and the earth - for the stories that help us remember our power and our magic, is precious and invaluable.
Toni Giselle Stuart works as a poet, performer, creative writing facilitator & healer. Her work includes Krotoa-Eva’s Suite – a cape jazz poem in three movements with filmmaker Kurt Orderson; Poetry, Paramedics and Film with filmmaker/health researcher Leanne Brady (2018); What the Water Remembers at Woordfees (2020); forgetting. and memory with vangile gantsho & Vusumzi Ngxande, at the Virtual National Arts Festival (2020). She has an MA Writer/Teacher (distinction) from Goldsmiths, University of London, where she was a 2014/2015 Chevening Scholar.

‘Language can be many different things…allow it to be those.’
Language is a vehicle for communication and for expression. How does it equip and support us? How does it get in our way? Deep dive with us and Nkem Ndefo, founder of Lumos Transforms and creator of The Resilience Toolkit, as we unpack the power of language. You’re not ready for this one!
Nkem Ndefo, MSN, CNM, RN, is the founder of Lumos Transforms and creator of The Resilience Toolkit, a model that promotes embodied self-awareness and self-regulation in an ecologically sensitive framework and social justice context. She is known for her unique ability to connect with people of all types by holding powerful healing spaces, weaving complex concepts into accessible narratives, and creating synergistic and collaborative learning communities that nourish people’s innate capacity for healing, wellness, and connection. Originally licensed as a nurse midwife, Nkem has extensive post-graduate training in complementary health modalities and emotional therapies and has worked in settings ranging from large-volume hospitals to mobile community clinics. She brings an abundance of experience as a clinician, educator, researcher, and community strategist to innovative programs that address trauma and inequity, build resilience, and shape liberatory change for individuals and organizations across sectors, both in her home country (US) and internationally. She regularly provides trauma-informed subject matter expertise to organizations, initiatives, and governmental agencies. Nkem is particularly interested in working alongside people most impacted by violence and marginalization. Most recently, she led a multi-year embodied diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism initiative for the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services.

Caleb Nelson grew up in a cult. We speak to him about what it is to be human in all it’s complexities, rawness, gloriousness and discovery. Caleb is a Professional Optimist and likes to be naked on Sunday. Naked Sunday is a conversation around the question: "Why do you love yourself?" The extent to which we do not love ourselves on the inside, is amplified in magnitude of hate in our external world. Caleb is working towards a vision of World INNER Peace. He aims to help visionary leaders rediscover and optimise their energy and passion so they can inspire others to cultivate harmony and prosperity in their community.

We talk Tyler the Creator, Teedra Moses, moving from banking to running multiple businesses and doing it all the slow way, with Mark.
“The mat has always been the safe space I can go to. I can delve into different learnings…and different appreciation of what yoga is beyond what is put out there.”
Mark’s pronouns are he/him, he is an entrepreneur, music lover & connector of people. He likes problem solving and creating a platform for other people to express themselves and thrive. He ensures he has a good work / life balance, which has been bettered since he discovered yoga in 2012.

“But then I noticed I was continuously always on, and being always on I noticed that I didn’t have these slow moments, and these slow moments in which I would just turn things off would often give me the moments to be more creative…”
Slow living guide, creative producer, consultant and business owner Priscilla Macintosh joins us sharing about how reaching a pivotal point in her career forced her to slow down. She didn’t give it all up and move to the countryside, she found her way of slow living in the city.
With Adjuma Tribe, her slow living platform, Priscilla helps freelancers and business owners on their own slow living journey. To achieve a more vital and better work-life balance, manage stress, and improve their overall health. In her spare time, she loves art related things, being creative, dancing, being in nature, eating delicious food, and doing absolutely nothing.

“It creates space around things…I recognise that’s really a key part of me feeling centred and feeling like I can then pour out in the ways I’m choosing to in my day. And also enjoy what I’m doing in my day.“
Slow living on our terms. We invite you into our world of slow living and to muse over what slow living uniquely looks like for you.
