Some of the best breastfeeding resources lack great information on weaning. What you find instead is information on why you should keep breastfeeding and anxiety-inducing articles on all of the things that can go wrong when you stop nursing. Breastfeeding is important, and thankfully, there are many resources for this, but it can be stressful when you are ready to wean and have limited evidence of how to do it. This episode aims to take the anxiety out of weaning. Get actionable tips on stopping breastfeeding and transitioning from being a breastfeeding mother to your next parenting adventure.     Thank you to our sponsors   Zahler goes above and beyond to use high-quality bioavailable ingredients like the active form of folate, bioavailable iron, and omega 3s. New mothers go into breastfeeding with the best intentions. Unfortunately, many run into issues that make breastfeeding difficult or impossible. By six months, three in four babies are fed infant formula. Many researchers have examined why mothers supplement with formula or wean their children before age one to address the low rates of exclusive breastfeeding. There are recurring themes throughout the scientific literature from many countries. This episode examines the top five reasons moms stop breastfeeding early and how you can avoid these issues to reach your breastfeeding goals.     Thank you to our sponsors   Zahler goes above and beyond to use high-quality bioavailable ingredients like the active form of folate, bioavailable iron, and omega 3s. Milk supply is the number one reason mothers quit breastfeeding early or supplement with infant formula. Learn the evidence on galactagogues, lactogenic pharmaceuticals, foods, and herbs to increase milk supply. During the nine months of pregnancy, your body undergoes more changes than at any other time in your life. Your breasts, in particular, will experience significant transformations from the moment you conceive through the breastfeeding period. These changes include noticeable differences in appearance and sensitivity, as well as internal changes to prepare your body for lactation. Learn how your breasts will change, how much your breasts will increase in size, and how to manage symptoms such as sensitivity, leaking, and stretch marks. The more you are educated about how your breasts develop during pregnancy you can alleviate discomfort and develop a greater appreciation for the hard work your body is doing to prepare for your baby.   Thank you to our sponsors Zahler goes above and beyond to use high-quality bioavailable ingredients like the active form of folate, bioavailable iron, and omega 3s. Many physical changes during pregnancy can impact your back and cause pain or discomfort. Back pain during pregnancy is almost always lower back pain within three categories: lumbar spine pain, posterior pelvic pain, or a combination of these two. The prevalence of back pain in pregnant women is estimated to be 50% in the first trimester, 40-70% in the second, and 70-80% in the third trimester. Just because back pain is common doesn’t mean you should have to suffer through it. This episode will discuss the causes of back pain during pregnancy, considerations for prevention, and techniques and tools to relieve pregnancy back pain.     Thank you to our sponsors   20% off Mommy Steps or Form insoles with the promo code FEET. There are many common questions about alcohol when trying to conceive, during pregnancy, and breastfeeding. Does drinking alcohol make it more challenging to get pregnant? Can you drink any alcohol during your pregnancy? Does it affect your baby? How much is okay? Can you pump and dump if you drink while breastfeeding? Doctors and midwives usually give you one of two answers. You hear absolutely no alcohol in any quantity. Or they may tell you it’s okay to enjoy a glass of wine with a meal occasionally. You already know that drinking high amounts of alcohol is a bad idea. What about an occasional drink? This article will examine the evidence on everything from the party night you had before you realized you were pregnant, enjoying a drink or two during pregnancy, and whether you need to pump and dump if you drink while breastfeeding.     Thank you to our sponsors   20% off Mommy Steps or Form insoles with the promo code FEET. Caffeine is a psychoactive drug because it changes brain function and results in alterations in perception, mood, or consciousness. Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant found naturally in the seeds, nuts, and leaves of over 60 species of plants. This stimulant is commonly in coffee, tea, and energy drinks and is the most widely consumed drug in the world. Caffeine is one of the first things to be cautious about after seeing a positive pregnancy test. Trying to figure out how much caffeine is safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding can be challenging. This episode examines how you process caffeine and the recommendations and research on the safety of caffeine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.     Thank you to our sponsors   20% off Mommy Steps and Form insoles with the promo code FEET. You may be completely regular as far as going to the bathroom before getting pregnant, and then suddenly, you are stopped up and have issues when you need to go #2. If you are constipated, you have difficult or infrequent bowel movements, your stools are hard, and you may have pain or discomfort in your stomach. The prevalence of constipation is 40% in pregnant women and 52% in women postpartum. Several changes in pregnancy can cause constipation. Like most pregnancy-related issues, constipation will disappear after you have your baby. In the meantime, there are a lot of things you can do to relieve constipation. This episode examines interventions to relieve constipation during pregnancy, ranging from diet and lifestyle changes to supplements and over-the-counter medications. A birth plan is much more than a piece of paper you hand to your care provider. A birth plan is a process you go through to prepare for the birth experience you want. This process will lay the foundation for you to be prepared for the scenario in which everything goes as intended and for what should happen if things do not go as planned. While parents write a birth plan and go into labor with the best intentions, birth plans are not always successful. Having your requests not fulfilled or having a birth not go as planned can leave you disappointed in your experience and feeling like you failed. This episode examines the top reasons birth plans fail and how to avoid those mistakes to create the birth experience you want. Most aspects of having a baby rest solely on the mother. One of the biggest things I hear from partners during pregnancy, labor, and after their baby arrives is that they don't know what to do. They feel useless and like they can't help. Or they feel like there is nothing for them to do. There are many things partners and dads can do to support mom and baby. This episode gives you a solid idea of your partner's role and how they can support you during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.      Thank you to our sponsors   40% off your first Hungryroot delivery and free veggies for life. With warmer weather comes more insects and the potential for bug bites. As with any topic, pregnancy adds an additional layer of concern about bug bites. When you are pregnant, increased skin sensitivity can make itchy or painful bug bites more bothersome. Some illnesses spread by insects, like the Zika virus, pose additional dangers during pregnancy. Plus, you need to be cautious about exposure to chemical ingredients found in many insect repellants. The good news is there is a lot you can do to mitigate your risk of insect bites during pregnancy, and there are repellants that are safe to use when you are expecting.     Thank you to our sponsors   Try AG1 and get a FREE 1-year supply of immune-supporting Vitamin D AND 5 FREE AG1 travel packs with your first purchase. Each serving of AG1 delivers your daily dose of vitamins, minerals, pre- and probiotics, and more. A pediatrician also provides guidance on health and development and will assist you in navigating caring for your child. There are many factors to consider when choosing a pediatrician who is the right fit for your family. Some basic things to look for are proximity, insurance coverage, and qualifications. You should also consider their philosophy on topics like breastfeeding, parenting, and vaccines. This episode walks you through how to find the best pediatrician who will be the perfect fit to care for your baby and help you navigate raising a healthy human. Fifty years ago, you went to the doctor, and whatever they told you was the correct answer. They were the experts and the gatekeepers of information. Today, doctors are still experts, but access to information is widely available to patients. There has been a major shift in patients being informed, especially concerning pregnancy and birth. Ideally, you find a doctor or midwife who is the perfect fit, whose ideology aligns with yours, and whom you trust explicitly. Many expecting parents will encounter scenarios where they do not see eye-to-eye with their care provider. You have two choices: you can go along with your care provider, or you can advocate for yourself. This episode will empower you to feel confident to advocate for yourself to be heard and to have the courage to make informed decisions that are right for you and your baby.     Thank you to our sponsors   20% off Mommy Steps or Form insoles with the promo code FEET. You see a midwife or OBGYN because they are the experts in prenatal care, pregnancy, and birth. They are trained to identify risks, ensure you and your baby are healthy, and assist you in navigating pregnancy and childbirth. In the nine months you are pregnant, you can expect to have around 14 prenatal appointments. Each appointment allows your care provider to monitor you and your baby, administer tests, and perform procedures. These visits are your opportunity to discuss your symptoms and prenatal care options, plan for birth, and ask questions. There is so much to cover in each of these visits, some of which can be as short as 15 minutes or less. Learning some basic information and applying simple practices will allow you to prepare for your prenatal appointments and make the most out of your limited time with your doctor or midwife.     Thank you to our sponsors   20% off Mommy Steps or Form insoles with the promo code FEET. Your care provider is the cornerstone of your prenatal care and birth experience. You will work with this expert resource throughout pregnancy to make critical decisions. Choosing your care provider is more nuanced than having a midwife for a home birth or an OB/GYN for a birth at a hospital. Your comfort and trust in your care provider is more important than their qualifications, where they went to school, and how many babies they have delivered. Ultimately, who your care provider is will significantly impact your experience and how your baby enters the world. When choosing your care provider, you want to research, explore your options, and shop around to find the right fit. This episode covers what to look for when choosing or changing your doctor or midwife and specific questions to find a care provider that is the right fit.     Thank you to our sponsors   Unlock brain-building play with KiwiCo Panda Crate! A birth plan is a document that outlines your preferences for labor and what happens directly following the birth of your baby. A birth plan is much more than a piece of paper you hand to your care provider. It is the process you go through to prepare for your desired birth experience. This process will lay the foundation for preparing you for the scenario in which everything goes exactly as planned and what should happen if things do not go as planned. The value of a birth plan has a lot more to do with the process of creating it than it does with the finished product. This simple process will empower you to navigate your labor and birth confidently.     Thank you to our sponsors   Zahler goes above and beyond to use high-quality bioavailable ingredients like the active form of folate, bioavailable iron, and omega 3s. Newborns naturally have low levels of vitamin K at birth. The danger of low vitamin K levels is the risk of vitamin K deficiency bleeding. This is a rare but severe complication. You can decrease the risk of vitamin K deficiency bleeding by giving your baby a vitamin K shot shortly after birth. Administering vitamin K to newborns is standard in the United States and many other countries. As with any intervention, there are pros and cons to consider. This episode examines the evidence on the efficacy and safety of the vitamin K shot so you can make an informed choice for your baby.     Thank you to our sponsors   Zahler goes above and beyond to use high-quality bioavailable ingredients like the active form of folate, bioavailable iron, and omega 3s. Hey there! I just finished listening to the podcast episode and it was incredibly informative and shed light on the uncertainty many expectant mothers face. The anxiety of not knowing when labor will start and deciphering between real labor and false alarms is so relatable. It's comforting to know there's a general labor path but also empowering to realize each experience is unique. If you're dealing with prodromal labor, this helpful link https://www.magnoliabirthhouse.com/magnolia-blog/prodromal-labor-symptoms-contractions is a must-read. Hopefully, it can provide some insights for you!

Many people make the mistake of believing that cold sores or genital rashes are a cosmetic problem that should not be treated at all. To combat the herpes virus, it is recommended to follow a diet rich in foods with a high content of the essential amino acid L-lysine, and also take supplements with L-lysine, zinc and vitamin C twice a year. I also advise you to learn more about one of the most effective ones here https://www.outlookindia.com/outlook-spotlight/herpesyl-reviews-is-it-a-legit-herpes-supplement-shocking-ingredients-must-read-news-214219

I wish you would clarify that an IV is not a needle in you like you said multiple times in this episode! The needle is removed immediately after insertion and a flimsy plastic tube stays behind that the fluids and meds are delivered through.

Helpful Podcast. Would be better if it was inclusive of lesbian couples and single women though. We are a pair of married Mums going through fertility assistance with a donor. No Dads anywhere in sight!

so many inaccurate things in this episode. If you can give me 10 reasons to breastfeed instead of pump I'd love to hear it because none are noted in the episode.

Hi, I love your podcast. Any information on vaginal birth after exploratory laparotomy fibroid removal. Do you have to have a c-section. Depending on how deep they cut into the uterus, must you have a c section.
