After 5 weeks straight of the youth movement taking over the RTS Podcast, it's back to the veterans of the sprint car series as the driver of the 93, Brad Peterson, joins Marc and Mike this week in studio. Going into his 6th season behind the wheel of a sprint car, the Lake Elmo native has taken quite the path to get to where he is today. Find out where it all started for Brad and what led to many years of success in no matter what he drove to almost 20 years away before deciding it was time to venture off into the world of sprint car racing. For the 5th week in a row, another up and coming young driver joined Marc and Mike in studio and it was none other then 3rd year non-wing sprint car driver, Lucas Logue. The former micro driver out of Rush City, Minnesota at only 18 years old has already made a name of himself in the Renegade Racing Brand after having a stellar rookie campaign, then following that up with his first career win in just his sophomore season. For the 4th week in a row, the youth movement continues on as 2022 UMSS Wing Sprint Car Rookie of the Year and driver of the 74N, Luke Nellis stops by the studio to chat with Mike and Marc. As the high school senior prepares to graduate in just a few short weeks he also prepares to hit the gas pedal on his biggest season yet. Coming off back to back Rookie of the Year honors with 2021 being in the Traditional class, Luke took the leap, formed Nellis Racing and went wing racing. We take a look back at the progression of Luke's career through out his years in karts, to micros and a year off from racing to crew for another team and being behind the scenes and learning the ropes. The youth movement continues on the RTS Podcast as 2023 Rookie of the Year contender in the traditional sprint cars with the UMSS, Ashley Williams joins Marc and Mike this week. A Thunder Hill Speedway graduate from her days in Micro racing with many accomplishments including feature wins and championships along the way has propelled her to an opportunity for the 2023 racing season to jump behind the wheel of a non wing sprint car. Ashley details her years coming up through the ranks and how she's gotten to where she is today including how what she's already learned behind the wheel can translate to consistency and success as she looks to log as many laps and gain valuable seat time as the young up and coming driver gets ready to take the green on her rookie campaign. Up and coming 19 year old wing sprint car driver, Owen Carlson swings by the studio this week to chat with Mike and Marc. An accomplished quarter midget racer having raced all over the country at a young age has already seen his fair share of different tracks and drivers. Owen relives his time in the quarter midget and highlights some of his career achievements and how it propelled him to behind the wheel of a micro. It didn't take long for the micro to become a thing of the past as it was time to gear up and strap into a full sized wing sprint car. The young Somerset, Wisconsin racer details the decision to make the jump to wing sprint cars and how the first few seasons have gone so far. With plenty of highs and lots of lows along the way throughout his first couple seasons, the learning experience has Owen set up for his biggest racing season yet. 17 year old Matthew Larson, driver of the #8 Super Stock joins Marc and Mike this week on the show. Just two years into his racing career, the young Lake Elmo, Minnesota driver talks about his early days of being on the road with his dad, the decision to get behind the wheel of his super stock, the highs and lows of his rookie year and the big highlight from year two, picking up the win at his home track of Cedar Lake Speedway. Consistency on the track plus hard work in the shop has already paid off for the "Baby Bomber" as year 3 looks to be his best yet. After the food coma that was Thanksgiving 2022, the boys are back in studio this week dropping the latest installment of the RTS Podcast. Mike and Marc kick off the festivities with a quick rundown of things to come throughout the month of December for RTS. A long time driver throughout his life and most recently racing in the UMSS for the better part of a decade now, Jake accomplished the ultimate goal in 2022 by winning the championship. It came down to the final night of season at Cedar Lake Speedway between himself and our very own co-host, Mike Mueller. Jake and Mike go in depth on what was going on behind the scenes for both drivers heading into that pivotal evening. But, before all that, we get the inside scope from the driver of the number 6. It's championship weekend for NASCAR, World of Outlaws Late Models and Sprints and USAC Sprints! The watermelon man, Ross Chastain pulls a video game like move to secure his spot in the final 4 at Phoenix knocking out Denny Hamlin. Does Denny finally deliver on all the talk of seeking payback on Chastain? Will another driver try and pull the same stunt on Sunday to win the championship? 
It's officially the off-season for the Renegade Racing Brand but that doesn't mean it's the offseason for the RTS Podcast. This weeks guest and interview was presented by: TCB Speed North Dan Griep, driver of the winged 3D race saver 305 sprint car and owner, creator of Forged In Dirt swings by the Fast Factory Foundation studios this week. Fairly new to the world of racing when it comes to driving end of things but having been around it for most of his life, Dan set out on a new adventure in 2022 with the beginning of his sprint car racing career along with the newly formed Youtube channel, Forged In Dirt. It wasn't the prototypical story of a racer coming through the ranks to get to where he is today, but Dan deep dives into how and why he decided on the path that he is on now and the reasoning behind wanted to document it for everyone to see. With many highs and plenty of lows in his rookie campaign in 2022, Dan breaks down how the mental end of things prepared him for the challenges that laid ahead which ultimately landed Rookie of the Year honors at Arlington Raceway this season. With new goals set for next season to further along his racing career plus the vision for Forged In Dirt in 2023 and beyond, we've only seen the beginning of what great racing and content is yet to come from Dan Griep. Marc and Joey are back for another round of sports talk but with an invader in studio this week. Mike on the Mic joins the sports crew from the racing side of RTS to attempt to talk sports with the boys. We're not going to spoil anything for you. The Vikings tried to find a way for us to bash them but found a way to pull off the victory over the motor city kitties. After another dismal showing the purple and gold head across the pond for an early morning showdown against the Saints. Will JJ find a way to bounce back? Can the defense find a way to force a turnover? In what seems to be yet another must win game for the Vikings, the boys break it all down and what to expect in this week 4 matchup in London.  The Gophers continue to row strong coming off a dominate win over Michigan State. Now ranked 21st in the country and 4-0 on the season, some would think this weekends game vs Purdue could be a trap! Will the oars finally fall off the boat? Can the Gophers keep on this torrid pace and show the rest of the country they are for real?  The Twins still aren't eliminated from playoff contention just yet. We'll just leave it at that. Minnesota Wild begin to tune it up for the regular season. Our DFS plays for week 4 of the NFL Season. Plus Survivor picks and upset specials!  And to top it all off, it is the return of everyone's favorite game. Taylor's Thirsty Questions makes a comeback for the first time in 2022. Not only is RTS back after multiple weeks off but.....SPORTS ARE BACK! And so is the BOOM! Joey Rothmeyer makes his much anticipated return to the studio this week to chat a little sports. The boys kick things off with a recap of the Gophers football season so far. After a 3-0 start in non-conference play, the Gophers face their first Big Ten team in the Michigan Spartans this Saturday afternoon. Will the boat continue to row? Or will the oars fall off and sink to the bottom of the lake? What would a sports episode with Joey on it be if there wasn't a little Twins talk involved? The seasons almost over and the Twins hopes of making to the post season are zero to none. Joey takes a look at how the season has went and what he would like to see happen over the course of the off-season. After a dismal showing on Monday Night Football last week against the Eagles, the Vikings look to turn things around in a home matchup vs the Lions. Is it a must win situation in already just week 3 of the season? Marc and Joey discuss what they've seen so far after just two weeks of the NFL season and predictions on Sunday's NFC North showdown at the peoples stadium. RTS is back! After more then a month away during the busiest time of the racing season, Marc and Mike dusted off the microphones and recap all the action from special season for the Renegade Racing Brand. The inaugural North Dakota Non-Wing Nationals over labor day weekend did not disappoint. Three nights of racing across 2 tracks leading up to championship Sunday night. Find out who was crowned champion. Plus get all the insights and reactions from the Slugger and Crew Chief himself. Next up was the third and final round of the GT Transport Hot Shot Challenge during the Richert Memorial for a sweet $3,000 dollar pay day. Did anyone take the challenge? Find out who did and if they succeeded in taking home the bingo check. And of course, last but not least. The Legendary 100 at Cedar Lake Speedway. Three nights of racing across ten different classes of cars. The UMSS non-wings and wings tackled the high banks to duke it out for that elusive right to be named a Legendary 100 champion. It was a jam packed studio for episode 77 of the Reaction Time Sports Podcast. Special guest Terry Galle along with wife Rachel joined Marc and Mike this week. Terry who has been an avid racing fan his whole life along with being a UMSS tech official in the past and also having wheeled a car or two in the past still loves being involved to this very day. And one way that he's doing that, the GT Hot Shot Challenge for the Traditional Sprint Cars of the UMSS. It's now year two of the challenge where in it's inaugural year saw Cam Schafer accept and conquer the challenge at Cedar Lake Speedway collecting a sweet $1,000 dollar payday. Year two saw some changes to the format making it a 3 round opportunity for drivers to start in the back and collect the bonus bucks. Round 1, two drivers were offered the challenge for $1,000 dollars. No takers. Round 2. 4 drivers offered the challenge for now $2,000 dollars! No takers. We have now reached the final round which will take place September 10th at Cedar Lake Speedway for the Richert Memorial and there's a plot twist. What could it be? You'll just have to tune in and find out! After 1 month and 7 rain outs, opening night of the 2022 race season is FINALLY here! The guys preview the upcoming race weekend at Cedar Lake Speedway as it's the Spring Open Wheel Spectacular with UMSS Traditional Sprint Cars, UMSS Wing Sprint Cars, Midwest Mods, Mods and Micros. Expectations are high as the anticipation to the start of the 2022 season is just days away. With still a lot of unknowns to be answered after one of the wettest Aprils Minnesota and Wisconsin has seen in recent years. What will track conditions look like for Saturday for the drivers especially with the current situation with tires. And to top it all off, there's practice on Friday night! Man, we talking about practice! Not a race. Practice! What sort of monkey wrench will that throw to drivers for opening weekend.
