Do you like a little dog talk?
Alex from The Big Smoke joins Rach and Dene to talk about the value of talking to your dog.
Why saying ‘Who’s a good dog!!!’ excitedly to your beloved pet is actually pretty important
Similar to how ‘baby talk’ is important for parents building a bond with their babies, ‘dog talk’ is crucial to building a bond with our dogs, according to studies coming out of the University of New York. Research also found that dogs can understand over 250 words, can see in colour and even have their own fingerprint!

Would you clone your dog? Alex from The Big Smoke joins Jacq and Dene to talk about clones and cloning your pets.
Would you clone your dogs?
With Barbra Streisand announcing recently that her two dogs are clones of her previous dog, Alex delves into the debate around cloning our beloved pets and how this is becoming a popular way of grieving a beloved pet for the general public, not just celebrities.
What does the science tell us about the likelihood of having a pet with the same personality? And why do critics wanted her to defend her ($50,000) buy? Would you clone your dog as a sentimental way of remembering them?

Jacq is not happy. Someone has been spraying cologne on themselves while standing next to her in a public space and wonders if this is wrong.

Alex from The Big Smoke joins Rach, Jacq and Dene to talk about new hi-tech glasses that could help with law enforcement, but at what cost to our privacy?
Are facial recognition glasses next on the wish list for Aussie police?
Hi-tech ‘smart glasses’ use facial recognition technology to identify people. They are being used despite backlash, and are already popular in China.
The Australian Federal Government has passed legislation requiring states and territories to hand over drivers licence photos in order to create a citizen database.
So how would ’facial recognition smart glass’ technology actually work? Alex explains how this technology is being used internationally. She also unpacks what it could mean for Australians.

Do people use cliches that annoy you? Can you speak ‘millennial’? Do you know when it is right to use an emoji, and when it may be misinterpreted? And do you over use hashtags?
Alex from The Big Smoke joins Rach, Jacq and Dene to talk about cliches, emojis and hashtags.
What are the worst cliches we are still using in 2018?
We look at the most overused phrases that have become popular by millennials in 2018. We are talking ‘influencers’ who create ‘snackable’ content that helps entrepreneurs ‘growth-hack’ their way to success – ‘110%’ – ugh. Plus we discuss our hashtag and emoji fixations and frustrations.

Do other drivers on the road annoy you? Have you seen other drivers breaking the rules and wished there was someone you could call?
Alex from The Big Smoke joins Rach and Dene to talk about a new program to dob in other drivers.
Would you dob in a driver as part of a Government scheme?
The NSW government is looking to introduce a ‘Dob in a driver’ program. This would allow drivers to report to a dedicated call centre when they see anything dangerous on the roads. From mobile phone use, speeding and drink/drug driving – we look at the attempts to almost ‘crowd source’ reports and how this could be rolled out around the country.

Alex from The Big Smoke joins Jacq and Dene to talk about attraction to unavailable objects of desire.
When you can’t have the object of your desire
Why are single people more attracted to people in relationships? According to the research published in the journal of scientific reports, researchers found that a person is given an ‘attractiveness boost’ when they are desired by another, and the study also looked into why despite the heartache often associated – people will still pursue a person in a relationship and engage in a process known as ‘mate-copying’.

Alex from The Big Smoke joins Jacq and Dene to talk about a new social media trend on Facebook and Instagram for the desperate and dateless.
Welcome to “Fauxbae-ing”
This is the dating trend that’s starting 2018 terribly. Simply put, fauxbaeing is the act of pretending to have a significant other over social media when you’re actually single. 19% of single men have witnessed someone pretend to have a significant other over social media when they were actually single. Alex looks into this new trend and how it coincides with another depressing dating trend, ‘cricketing’.
