Before becoming a licensed barber or having kids of her own, Cozy Friedman was struck by a revolutionary idea: create a salon where kids are a priority, not a nuisance.
After realizing the lack of kid-friendly salons, Cozy opened the doors to her first salon on Madison Avenue in New York City. Staffed with stylists attuned to the unique needs of children and stocked with the latest, greatest toys, Cozy’s Cuts for Kids was an instant success. Fifteen years, three salons and two kids later, Cozy continues to provide stress-free cuts for New York kids.
In response to client demand, Cozy also created So Cozy Hair Care For Children, the first-ever professional line of hair care products created exclusively for kids. In February, 2011, Cozy launched her much-anticipated debut book "Cozy’s Complete Guide to Girl’s Hair" putting two decades of Cozy’s expertise at the fingertips of eager parents.
During this Sassy Ladies' broadcast, Cozy talks about the inspiration behind the creation of the Cozy’s Cuts for Kids salons and So Cozy product line. Anne Maxfield was brought up in the early days of Julia Child, but back then what she really thrived on was the bounty of prepared foods. Onion rings in a can, on top of macaroni and cheese from a box, with those cute Vienna franks (also from a can), and there was a great dinner! Parents going out? Frozen pot pies, or even better, a TV dinner…bliss. Why whole grains and fresh vegetables, when there were cans or frozen foods?
Fast forward to a new century.
Anne Maxfield is a multi-talented serial entrepreneur. Her vision for the Accidental Locavore is to provide viewers with a person like them, to take the mystery out of farmer’s markets, and show them how she cooks with what’s local and fresh.

A simple statement – “A woman can never be too rich or too thin” – carries so much weight in our culture. Since it was first uttered by Babe Paley, a socialite and fashion icon in the 1950s, until now, women know what it means and go to great extremes to live by its anthem. You need to look good at all costs. You need to starve when you are hungry. You need to shop and wear the latest designer fashions even when money is tight. Yes, if you are a woman, you must suffer, emotionally and financially, to be beautiful.
Kathleen Burns Kingsbury, an expert in wealth psychology and women’s issues.
Listeners will walk away with:
· The 5 tell-tale signs that you have been brainwashed to believe your value is based on what is on the outside, instead of the inside
· Simple, effective tips for challenging these assumptions and creating a new definition of what it means to be a powerful woman in the world
· A practical and effective 3 step process for making peace with food and finances
Voted one of the top ten executive coaches in Boston in 2009 by Women’s Business, Kathleen Burns Kingsbury is committed to helping women bravely look at their relationship with food and money to become more emotionally and financially conscious. She is an internationally published author, certified professional coach with a Master’s Degree in Psychology and an adjunct professor at the McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley University. Her latest publication, Creating Wealth from the Inside Out Workbook was released in September 2010. For more information, visit her website at www.kbkwealthconnection.com.
April Morse has been working at Weber’s Cabinets since 2001 with her dad. With the economy tumbling it has been a real struggle starting since around November of 2006. She has seen sales decrease from that year up to now. "My dad has always had the philosophy to “build a high quality cabinet at a fair price” which I believe in with great fervor. I also have learned that if you can’t beat them join them in a since that we have been building parts and pieces for the big cabinet manufacturers that sell to Lowes and Home Depot. We got ourselves in there somehow, because more and more builders don’t use custom cabinet builders. My dad is always telling me to look outside the box and find new ways of selling our products. We are at a beginning stage with our new vendor Williams-Sonoma and I am so looking forward to what the future holds."
Please join us to talk with April and hear her story. It's a great view of how to be innovative and think outside the box! Friday, September 3rd at 9:00 am PST.
