Internet privacy updates have arrived: Appleโ€™s App Tracking Transparency Framework (courtesy of iOS 14.5), Googleโ€™s Privacy Sandbox, and, basically a coming embargo on third-party cookies (which is explained in-depth during the video). So, in essence, weโ€™re talking about the end (or at least a serious diminution) of Facebookโ€™s Pixel, Googleโ€™s Global Site Tag (i.e., Google Analytics), and other website measurement and tracking tools. Glennda Baker and Krys Benyamein are reaping substantial rewards through their use of short-form vids: ย followers, engagement, inbound leads, and referrals galore. ย  A few more of factoids to think about while youโ€™re watching ๐Ÿค”: ย  1. Per #VidYard, ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ‘% of videos at or under ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿถ-๐šœ๐šŽ๐šŒ๐š˜๐š—๐š ๐š›๐šž๐š—๐š๐š’๐š–๐šŽ๐šœ are watched to completion. 2. For any established/aspiring YouTuber, the TubeBuddy browser extension is a downright must to optimize and grow your channel. In todayโ€™s episode of #MarketingStream, Iโ€™m talking with TubeBuddy Creative Director, Andrew Kan -- YouTube SEO and optimization expert. (โš ๏ธ๐—ช๐—”๐—ฅ๐—ก๐—œ๐—ก๐—š: this episode is nonstop with actionable takeaways!) YouTube is a different type of social platform. In fact, itโ€™s less of a social network and more of a search engine. (No surprise given that itโ€™s owned by Google.) Now, the trouble with social sites like Facebook or Instagram is that your content is here today, gone tomorrow. To that end, I was recently asked to explain why one should even bother posting to their Stories, for instance, when that content automatically disappears after just 24 hours. Fair question! But based on that, I replied, whatโ€™s the benefit of posting any content to your Feeds or otherwise since itโ€™ll only circulate (algorithmically) for maybe 48 to 72 hours once published? My point isnโ€™t to make you question the efficacy of creating or sharing social content (far from it!); itโ€™s to showcase how YouTube is different. Imagine publishing a video that amasses hundreds (or thousands) of views month-after-month, only gaining in popularity as time elapses! And, whatโ€™s more, consider that for all those views (like clockwork ๐Ÿ•ฐ) a certain percentage of onlookers will inevitably inquire about your business services. Yupโ€”you heard right! Real estate is (and will remain) a relationship business -- a quote-unquote, โ€œ๐‘ฐ ๐’•๐’“๐’–๐’”๐’• ๐’š๐’๐’–,โ€ business. For instance, referrals and repeat business by way of oneโ€™s past clients, sphere-of-influence contacts, or would-be buyers and sellers (leads) in search of credible/reliable real estate professionals. ย  The question is, from a marketing standpoint, how do you SCALE relationships? Short answer: ย AUTOMATION. ย  Leads are easy; conversion is hardโ€”and, candidly, Iโ€™m tired of watching quality agents throw good money after bad generating more and more leads that never (flipping) convert. Itโ€™s a serious problem. ย  The distance between generating a lead and procuring a client is a long gap. In order to close that gap, youโ€™ve gotta build relationshipsโ€”and to build relationships, you have to stay in communication. But how do you do that at scale? Content creation ainโ€™t no small undertaking! Writing copy, producing videos, designing graphics, and more -- w/o question, itโ€™s a significant investment to time, resources, and effort. Granted, no other marketing or branding channel (comparatively) even comes close to the vast reach of todayโ€™s digital and social platforms. Trouble is, I suspect your content isnโ€™t getting the, quote-unquote, โ€œ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ž๐š๐ ๐žโ€ (in terms of reach and exposure) as it could or should. ๐Ÿšจ Big online ad-targeting and user privacy updates are at hand to affect major marketing platformsโ€”including Google and Facebook ๐Ÿšจ For instance, you mightโ€™ve heard about how Google, starting next year, plans to prohibit targeting based on usersโ€™ browsing history ๐Ÿ˜ณ Translated: interest-based audiences, intent-based audiences, remarketing, and a bunch more is up for grabs. You might also recall the fuss between Facebook and Apple about a month ago whereby Facebook was in a tizzy about Appleโ€™s impending iOS 14 update, in which will be included the App Tracking Transparency Framework. Basically, any app sold or distributed in Appleโ€™s App Store will be required to show users a prompt asking for permission to track activities and sell that data to advertisers. Letโ€™s be candid: most will deny that permission. So I bet you can guess why Facebookโ€™s been in a tizzy now! Thatโ€™s essentially their entire business model.
