The #1 way you can support The Troubadour is by visiting our Patreon page Carly and I were thrilled to have Josh Crutchmer back on the show to talk about his 3rd and latest book, Red Dirt Unplugged. Along with working a day job for a little ol publication called the New York Times, native Okie and Red Dirt Music Fan, Josh Crutchmer, is a journalist who’s played a significant role in getting recognition for the artists and the music we all dig for years now. For example, Josh just spent an entire year basically embedded with Wyatt Flores as he rides a very hot streak into the fall.  He was in the studio with him as he recorded his latest album. Josh has also been spending a lot of time with The Great Divide as they capped their comeback this year with some Texas Music honors as well as their Opry debut in July and their Ryman debut (opening for Wyatt) coming in December! Over the past year, Josh has also had his articles published in Rolling stone featuring artists like Flatland Calvary, Wade Bowen, Dylan Gossett, Koe Wetzel, American Aquarium, Cody Canada, Reckless Kelly, Muscadine Bloodline, Dasha, Shane Smith, Old 97s and Charles Wesley Godwin. So, let’s just say Josh has his pulse on the scene and the exciting time we’re all experiencing in our favorite genre of original music.  We were thrilled to have him on the show and we can’t recommend his book highly enough! The #1 way you can support The Troubadour is by visiting our Patreon page Based in Refugio, Texas, songwriter Devin Michaels received his first guitar in 2017 and has been weaving his thoughts into music ever since. His quiet nature meant that music could be an outlet – a way to get out all the things he couldn’t otherwise say. While he was raised on George Strait, Merle Haggard, and his grandmother’s beloved Tejano music, Devin puts something a little grittier out into the world from his own fingertips. He combines influences from the music of his childhood with elements of rock and alternative to create a sound that is loyal to classic country but can entertain a rock n’ roll crowd easily. His songs conjure vivid images, making audiences feel every emotion Devin has poured into each line. Whether it be the angsty and angry Wasted Time, or the heartbreakingly haunting ballad, Whiskey, he brings the listener on a journey rather than simply telling them a story. Backed by a five-piece band, Devin creates music for people who love hard and hurt deeply. He sees himself and his music as an outlet for the brokenhearted. BONES OWENS INTERVIEW

The #1 way you can support The Troubadour is by visiting our Patreon page On this episode Carly and I welcome Nashville rocker and songwriter Bones Owens to The Troubadour.  Bones has written with the Bon Jovi, collaborated with Jelly Roll and he takes a self-described Chameleon-like approach to music.  Fact is, just before we recorded this episode Bones had been in Texas writing songs and fishing with Koe Wetzel and some of the Whiskey Myers crew.   On July 12th his new record “Love out of Lemons”, dropped.  He’s actually playing in Sturgis, SD tomorrow night at the Full Throttle Saloon for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and for the whole month of September he’s on tour with another one of my favorite bands, Blackberry Smoke.  For my Texas friends Bones will be at Gruene Hall with the Steel Woods on October 17th.   On top of all that, he’s just seems like a good dude.  Simple clickable links for everything I’m yammering about can be found in the show notes for the episode…because, I did the leg-work for you and put em there!!!   So here we go everybody, Bones Owens is on The Troubadour.   VIDEO Links: Bones Owens – Eighteen Wheeler – Official Music Video Bones Owens – Live Concert from South Central Correctional Facility Bone Owens – In depth Rig Rundown with Premier Guitar     Send Musicians to Prison - Website     We’re also excited to say that we are now an affiliate for Sweetwater.  So, the next time you need any new strings, picks, microphones, recording gear, etc. make sure to use this link!
The #1 way you can support The Troubadour is by visiting our Patreon page Texas singer-songwriter Kyle Garrett is the guest on this episode.  Kyle is a past guest and always brings a wealth of experience to the show due to the various hats he’s worn in the music industry.  Along with being the Co-host and Producer of the Texas Toast Podcast he’s also an artist and helps manage other bands in the business and handles everything from booking to social media content production.   In this episode our very own Carly Evans draws on her years of experience as an on-air radio personality and program director and talks about why certain songs and artists get played on the radio and why others don’t; great things to know if you’re trying to make a living in this world of music.   There are a lot of great info nuggets dropped in this episode and it’s always a pleasure talking shop with Kyle.  You can find out more about Kyle, his music, and the Texas Toast Podcast using the clickable links in the show notes for this episode at thetroubadourpodcast.com.   Kyle Garrett Music Kyle Garrett YouTube Channel Texas Toast Podcast Grow the Show Podcast     We’re also excited to say that we are now an affiliate for Sweetwater.  So, the next time you need any new strings, picks, microphones, recording gear, etc. make sure to use this link!
The #1 way you can support The Troubadour is by visiting our Patreon page It’s Monday, July 8th, 2024 and this is an episode I’ve been excited about since we got it scheduled.  In January of 2024, Americana band Mike and the Moonpies officially announced they were changing the name of their band to Silverada.  Their brand new self-titled record just came out and it’s got some bangers on it.  Silverada is fresh off of an album release party at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and their upcoming tour schedule is insane!  For example, this coming Friday and Saturday nights they are playing at Billy Bob’s and Gruene Hall respectively.  And in the next few months they’ve got dates everywhere from Washington, D.C. to Seattle and from Milwaukee, WI to Luckenbach, TX, and just about everywhere in between. Frontman Mike Harmier tells us about some new songwriting techniques he employed for this new record and some of you songwriters out there might just have some new tools to put in your bag. So, here we go with Episode 194 of the Troubadour featuring Mike Harmier of Silverada! We’re also excited to say that we are now an affiliate for Sweetwater.  So, the next time you need any new strings, picks, microphones, recording gear, etc. make sure to use this link!
DONICE MORACE

DONICE MORACE

The #1 way you can support The Troubadour is by visiting our Patreon page This episode features our interview with Country Music artist Donice Morace. You can’t fake authentic. You know it when you see it – and you know it when you hear it. Authentic isthe best word that can be used to describe Donice Morace. From his chiseled good looks and easy-goingpersonality that exude the confidence of a man who knows exactly who he is, to his music which catchesyour ear and takes you back to another era when country music was defined by vocal stylists who were immediately identifiable, Donice is truly authentic. Donice began his journey in music at the tender age of six when his father bought him his first guitar. By the time he was a junior in high school he was singing in choir, and after seeing George Strait in concert while in college at Texas A&M, it became clear to him that music would be his life’s calling. The Vidor,Texas native found inspiration from the music of Keith Whitley, George Jones, and Conway Twitty. And while those country traditionalists helped to shape his own sound, it was two local country music heroes, Tracy Byrd and Mark Chesnutt, who gave Donice a good blueprint when it came time to take hiscareer to the professional level and launch his own band. “I learned so much from watching how they had handled their careers. It was like Honky Tonk 101.   Donice continued to grow his stock with the release of his debut self-titled EP in 2017, which featured the top 25 single, “Good Hurt Comin’ On,” and “WD-40 and Duct Tape,” which was accompanied by a music video, and peaked at number 15 on the Texas Regional Radio Report. He doubled down with the release of his debut album ‘Long Live the Cowboy’ in 2019, unashamedly putting the cowboy back in country music. Fast forward to today, Donice recently released his latest critically acclaimed album ‘This Life I Love,’ marking a watershed moment for Donice to continue stake his claim on the country music landscape.   The album features his recent trilogy of hit singles and music videos, “One Drink In,” “Goin’ Goin’” and “Wait Til I’m Gone.” Individually and collectively, these songs have shone a bright light on the Texas native, notched him a win as “Emerging Artist of the Year” at the 2022 Texas Country Music Awards, and garnered high praise and coverage from some of country music’s largest media outlets.  Donice Morace remains the “One to Watch” in the neo-traditional country music movement that he is helping to spearhead.   We’re also excited to say that we are now an affiliate for Sweetwater.  So, the next time you need any new strings, picks, microphones, recording gear, etc. make sure to use this link!
The #1 way you can support The Troubadour is by visiting our Patreon page This episode features our interview with The Texas Trio, comprised of Kyle Park, John Michael Whitby & Jason Roberts. Kyle has been a guest on the podcast several times but it was our first time getting to visit with Jason Roberts and John Michael Withby (JMW).  Both are very accomplished musicians in their own right.  Jason and JMW both played with Asleep At The Wheel for earlier in their careers.  Currently, Jason is fronting the famed Bob’s Wills Texas Playboys and JMW has been playing keys in Country Music Icon George Strait’s Ace in the Hole Band for 19 years now.  Sounds like Jason will even be doing some dates with the Ace in the Hole Band as well before long! Their new self-titled album was just released on Friday, May 17th, 2024 and you can check it out HERE! Enjoy the episode!
