In this week’s episode of THE WINDOW: Sports betting podcast, Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic) opens the show by discussing what “Priors” are in sports betting, and how it’s about as simple of a concept as you can imagine. Through 10 weeks of NFL play, it’s time to move on from what our preseason expectations were for some of the NFL’s supposedly elite teams, while also opening up to the possibility that there could be a shift in the hierarchy.Matt goes through each game in Week 11 via “Right or Wrong,” discussing what might have been the best “witching hour” of the season, and why it felt like “the old days” with so many games hanging in the balance throughout Sunday. Then Matt describes why he’s impressed with the Seahawks, annoyed with everyone but Wyatt Teller in Ravens-Browns, and wonders aloud what the actual difference is between a team like the Eagles and the Broncos. In this week’s episode of THE WINDOW: Sports betting podcast, Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic) opens the show by talking about a run of 12 straight ATS winners in college football, wondering aloud why THE WINDOW is sports betting’s best kept secret, and a reminder that things like that are not normal, or promised.Matt starts “Right or Wrong” for Week 10 with a look back at a disappointing matchup between the Eagles and Packers, even if we found a winner on the side in Monday Night Football. Then it’s a run through of the rest of the games of the week, including what everyone else seemed to miss in the handicap for the international game, including, at times, the Falcons, as Jonathan Taylor and Myles Garrett are not each the favorite in Player of the Year awards. Then, we survive special teams touchdowns and turnovers with the Texans comeback, but don’t with the Under in Browns-Jets. In this week’s episode of THE WINDOW: Sports betting podcast, Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic) opens the show by discussing his experience at Game 7 of the World Series, and what it would have meant to the city whose team fell short. To accompany the story of Saturday’s game, here’s the view of the two crucial plays in the bottom of the 9th, and two similar but different “sounds.”Then it’s time for “Right or Wrong” in Week 9 in the NFL where Matt built a RUMP around the Panthers shocking the Packers, and while they did, not enough other upsets could come through! An otherwise solid Sunday was mired by a quarterback injury, and the Titans covering despite just 206 total yards. Lastly, Matt looks at the status of some of our futures in “Teams of Interest” on a slow week for the Heisman Report. It’s time to head to THE WINDOW, let’s go!
In this week’s episode of THE WINDOW: Sports betting podcast, Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic) opens the show with a vibe check on Toronto’s first World Series appearance in 32 years, after a brutal Game 3 loss in 18 innings. Matt goes over the games of Week 7 in the NFL in “Right or Wrong,” where we hit on the only two underdogs to win outright, but largely moved money around. A week after hitting it big with the mega-SGP+, not giving a bunch of it back is something of an accomplishment, but Thursday’s Charger win started the week off nicely, and the upsets from the Dolphins and Falcons helped, as did pinpointing a blowout in Philadelphia. The Saints and Steelers couldn’t convert on first halves that set them up for a small upset, while the Bears-Ravens market was a mess all week, as Matt looks at the goings-on with the Lamar Jackson injury reporting. Maybe you missed it?College Football’s Big Games of Week 9“The Saturday 7” — Week 9’s best bets for College FootballThursday Night Football betting preview: Vikings-ChargersNFL Week 8 “Sunday Best”The “Player Prop Express” for Week 8Monday Night Football betting preview: Commanders-ChiefsNHL Daily Moneyline Market TrackerThe “Saturday 7” continued its winning ways in college football, but it’s the big games that were most interesting two of our teams of interest survive tough atmospheres on the road in the SEC. Why it’s time to stop waiting for a buy-low spot to add to our season-long positions on Texas A&M, as they’re one of four teams that look to be capable of winning the national title. In this week’s episode of THE WINDOW: Sports betting podcast, Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic) opens the show exactly the way you might expect, by breaking down the experience of losing THE WINDOW’s entry in the Circa Survivor contest on the absurdity that was the Cardinals choke-job to the Titans. Matt goes down the board of NFL games in Week 5, looking back at whether the handicap for the game was “Right or Wrong”. Through the lens of Survivor, he looks at the difference between sniffing out upsets by the 49ers and Patriots compared to the Arizona fiasco. Plus, why even losing player props — particularly long shot touchdowns — can be graded by opportunity. MAYBE YOU MISSED IT?College Football’s big games of Week 6The “Saturday 7”: Best bets for Week 6Thursday Night Football betting preview: 49ers-RamsNFL Week 5 best bets for Sunday (The Player Prop Express for Week 5Monday Night Football betting preview: Chiefs-JaguarsThen, in a podcast-only segment, Matt checks in on the season-long futures markets and awards, noting some rogue numbers still available on preseason bets already made, while adding a commonly brought-up name for MVP that still has some value given what’s happened to those previously considered to be the favorites, like Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, and Justin Herbert. To close, Matt looks back at Week 6 in college football, where we actually benefited from a pair of “bad beats,” only to also see the RUMP suffer on another choke-job, without even the benefit of a #significanttosome 17-point lead. Meanwhile, both Penn State and Texas take a second loss, and why conference defeats are so much more punitive. Plus, not much happened with regards to the Heisman Report on the field, but some rumors are swirling about the recent return of one of our best bets for the award. Matt breaks down why he doesn’t even want to see our “sweet boy” back just yet, but if he is on the field Saturday, we won’t complain!Lastly, Matt discusses THE WINDOW’s NHL betting project for the 2025-‘26 season, which opens tonight! It’s time to head to THE WINDOW, let’s go!
In this week’s episode of THE WINDOW: Sports betting podcast, Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic) it’s more about celebrating (Seahawks-Cardinals) AND commiserating (MNF games) than one side or the other, after a mix-and-match weekend in both college football and the NFL.The Jets give away a winnable game, while the Bengals prove they might be worse than we ever thought possible, with or without Joe Burrow. In “Right or Wrong,” Matt goes back to last Thursday night to discuss the interesting market moves of the opening game in each week of the early NFL season. Special teams plays went the wrong way in Eagles-Buccaneers and Browns-Lions. Then the Rams got a lucky cover, only to see the Raiders give that right back with a brutal effort in a winnable game with the Bears. Then, Matt breaks down a pair of bad beats with Pittsburgh +4.5 and South Alabama +13 in the first losing “Saturday 7” of the season. In the big games, Illinois, Oregon, and Ole Miss all covered and won, while Georgia and Washington couldn’t make the one play needed to. Finally, in the “Heisman Report,” the bad news is that one of our preseason bets — John Mateer (+2500) — that became the favorite for the award has to miss time with a thumb injury. How much time will determine whether his revised odds are “correct.” The good news? The new favorite — Dante Moore — is also someone we bet on before the season. Why the award may be won in a quasi-tournament within the Big Ten.Lastly, there will be a new feature at THE WINDOW for the upcoming NHL season. Matt teases what that might look like for 2025-‘26.It’s time to head to THE WINDOW, let’s go!
In this week’s episode of THE WINDOW: Sports betting podcast, Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic) takes a well-earned victory lap after nailing the Lions-Ravens game, even if he got bit by the internet bug in Monday’s email blast. Lions +4.5, moneyline, Goff under pass attempts, Jackson over passing+rushing, TeSlaa under receiving yards, St. Brown touchdown, and Bateman touchdown all got home to salvage what should have been a better Week 3, had it not been for the Rams-Eagles bad beat fiasco, and the Patriots donating a win to the Steelers. Then, Matt digs into Saturday’s action in College Football — what surprised him in the market, how to time the Heisman betting market, and where the vulnerable teams are on the moneyline. Then, there will be a new feature at THE WINDOW for the upcoming NHL season. Matt teases what that might look like for 2025-‘26.It’s time to head to THE WINDOW, let’s go!
In this week’s episode of THE WINDOW: Sports betting podcast, Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic) is exhausted, as he looks back at the Cowboys win over the Giants saving the Survivor season, and a laundry list of games that could have gone either way against the spread in Week 2 of the NFL:Brian Thomas drops the ballTravis Kelce drops the ball, the refs don’t notice obvious false startsDenver’s special teamsThe Steelers’ special teams leave the ball on the groundThe boxscore in Browns-RavensThe Cardinals get double-backdooredPlus, Monday night saw profit in going 5-1 with player props (for +4 units), and hitting a pair of anytime touchdowns (+1.9 units), so how did neither side get home?Maybe you missed it??The “Saturday 7” for College Football (4-3, plus 9 units in the RUMP!)Best bets for Week 2 in the NFL (6-6)Week 2 Survivor strategy ✅“The Player Prop Express”: NFL fake-fantasy team Monday Night Football Preview: Buccaneers-TexansMonday Night Football Preview: Chargers-RaidersIn college football, Matt tells you why Luke Fickell is a loser, and how Rich Rodriguez tried to be, as Nicco Marchiol saved the day after being benched and started a run to a 4/5 CFB RUMP that was closed out by Texas A&M in the Game of the Night. Plus, is there a Heisman contender worth adding to John Mateer, Dante Moore, and Jayden Maiava (and maybe Ryan Williams isn’t done yet?)?It’s time to head to THE WINDOW, let’s go!
In this week’s episode of THE WINDOW: Sports betting podcast, Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic) is in a drastically different headspace after J.J. McCarthy (+550) ran in a score to cash anytime touchdown bets and push the Vikings-Bears total over the number. Matt welcomes new subscribers to THE WINDOW, before looking back at the rest of NFL Week 1, including the Cowboys cover in Philadelphia, the Chargers upset over the Chiefs, the Bengals escaping Cleveland, the Cardinals close call in New Orleans, and the Colts beating the brakes off of the Dolphins, as he goes down the board in the segment that is exactly as it sounds, “Right or Wrong.”Who will come out of Week 1 overrated in the betting market place, and is the darkhorse candidate the right strategic move for Week 2 in Survivor.Maybe you missed it?The “Saturday 7” for College Football (5-2)Best bets for Week 1 in the NFL (4-4)Week 1 Survivor strategy ✅“The Player Prop Express”: NFL fake-fantasy teamMonday Night Football Preview: Vikings-BearsFriday Night Football Preview: Chiefs-ChargersNFL Opening Night Preview: Cowboys-EaglesThen, Matt looks back at a winning week in college football, despite a fiasco for SMU, and a “RUMP” that ended up close to cashing with a pair of double-digit underdogs falling just short.Plus, the Heisman Report sees a new favorite at one sportsbook — a familiar name to THE WINDOW “Panes.”It’s time to head to THE WINDOW, let’s go!

Founding members are invited to the exclusive group chat via THE WINDOW on Substack, along with other perks. In this week’s episode of THE WINDOW: Sports betting podcast, Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic) discusses how Week 1 of College Football reminded us that in the NIL/Transfer portal era, the questions we ask of each contender can’t be answered until the teams take the field. Without seeing them play, assumptions made about Arch Manning, Kyron Drones, Notre Dame’s “talent,” and LSU as a whole, send good CLV tickets into the trash. Why Auburn, South Florida, and Utah all impressed, and is Alabama’s decisive loss to Florida State more about the Crimson Tide, or could it be that the Seminoles are actually really good? What it “costs” to find out about FSU. The Heisman report shows why betting one of the three favorite quarterbacks was never the right to move, and Matt picks out which one he’d consider at the current prices. Then, Matt looks back at the player-level futures markets he’s written about in the last week, breaking down his thought process for each:NFL Season-long player props: Best bets in the passing marketsNFL Season-long player props: Best bets in the receiving marketsNFL Season-long player props: Best bets in the rushing marketsNFL Awards: OPOY, DPOY, OROY, DROY, Comeback Player of the Year, and MVPFinally, Matt gives out a handful of team-centric NFL futures, including his bets for the AFC and NFC championship. In the NFL season preview podcast, Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic) discusses the AFC and NFC divisional betting breakdowns ahead of the season’s start next week.Matt touches on all 32 teams, and why there isn’t a bet to make on all of them nor every division, even if there’s reason to be high or low on many teams. Plus, a look back at Week 0 in college football, where we went 2-1 on a trio of bets that could have gone either way. In part 2 of the college football betting preview podcast, Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic) discusses the Group of Five conferences, who’s worth a bet to make and miss the College Football Playoff, and the Heisman Trophy outlook before the season starts. Matt discusses the two teams in the American worth betting, but why those wagers should come in two different markets. Then, is Liberty a fade in Conference USA? Why you need to catch a team on the way up earlier in the G5 — especially the MAC. The Mountain West is Boise’s to lose again, but there’s a pair of teams that at least have a chance. Finally, there are few instances when a team has a ceiling that’s not captured by the betting market, but there might be one in the Sun Belt. After three surprise qualifiers for the CFP last year, who can be the long shots to hit in Year 2 of the 12-teamer? Plus, is Clemson a lock for the playoff? In part 1 of the college football betting preview podcast, Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic) discusses the quartet of conference betting previews he’s written. The SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, and ACC betting previews are out, and Matt expands on how he views each league. What is he looking for in a conference championship bet, and why, for many teams, regular season win total bets aren’t necessary? Also, Matt expands on some of the teams that don’t have a valuable bet attached to them; Like why Oklahoma is a more interesting team than a bet-able one, if Penn State is finally trustworthy, the market’s love for Clemson and how a good Tigers’ season might send ripples into the Big Ten and SEC’s chances for four teams in the College Football Playoff. Plus, the Big 12 is a mess with no clear favorite again, does that make it a 1-bid league ala college basketball?Maybe you missed it?Free for Yahoo!: Tips to get you started in sports bettingFree: College Football Preseason estimated market power ratingsFree for Yahoo!: College Football Game of the Year bettingFree: College Football’s outlier teams ahead of 2025Also, Matt answers some common questions around staking futures. Why staking can be a personal thing relative to how you feel about a bet. For example, if you like a team to win their division at +250, are you planning on bet on that team in other markets, or repeatedly throughout the season game-to-game?How to stake based on a winning outcome — like budgeting a total risk on a few entities in an awards market, but splitting that budget in a way to net the same return. Eg. A $10 budget spread across five players, to win a gross amount of $50 might look like this:Player A: $1 at 50-1 =$50Player B: $5 at 10-1=$50Player C: $2 at 25-1=$50Player D: $0.5 at 100-1=$50Player E: $1.50 at 33-1=$50Finally, Matt suggests that the goal should always be to accumulate a long-term return (ROI) of 5%. If that means 300 bets lined at -110 for a record 165-135 (55%), or going 1-20 on 21 futures bets, with the one winner coming at 21-1. It’s time to head to THE WINDOW, let’s go!
On this week’s episode of THE WINDOW, Matt (@mrussauthentic on Twitter) discusses turning the paywall switch on; The minimal growing pains for Day 1 and why there’s a buffer before the first article that will go behind it. Then it’s time to talk football. There are numerous free pieces outlining how we’re getting ready for the football season in both college and the NFL:Free for Yahoo!: Tips to get you started in sports bettingNFL Pre-training camp estimated market power ratingsOne big question for each team in the AFCOne big question for each team in the NFCCollege Football Preseason estimated market power ratings Free for Yahoo!: College Football Game of the Year bettingCollege Football’s outlier teams ahead of 2025Matt discusses his article for Yahoo!, which breaks down some tips for those just getting started in sports betting, and for anyone feeling a little rusty. Then Matt describes our advantage in betting. While we’ll never know all the ins and out of high-level football, we can be experts in market valuation - the other side of the sports betting coin - by using a rating system for how the market perceives teams at any given moment during the season. Matt further explains his one big question of each NFL team heading into the season and describes how a bet might be tied to the answer. Lastly, Matt runs down the teams that the market expects more from in college football this season, and those that it expects to take a step back. Why being over-rated or under-rated doesn’t necessarily raise red flags, and how come there are fewer outliers than it seems relative to the total number of FBS teams. Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic) pauses summer vacation to check in with an update on the future of THE WINDOW, and what he’s been up to during the hiatus by half-breaking some news that changes its future. Then Matt summarizes the sports world of the last month, as it’s been arguably the most boring sports stretch since the pandemic, and the benefits of taking a break from betting to catch up on the latest television offerings and work on the golf game. ______________________________________________________Maybe you missed it:“Amen to business”: The future of THE WINDOW______________________________________________________It’s time to head to THE WINDOW, let’s go!
On the Friday show, Matt Russell (@mrussauthentic on X) looks back at another winning Thursday-nighter, as the Rams got the Panes on the board in the Round-robin Underdog Moneyline Parlay (RUMP), and Demarcus Robinson led the way in player prop betting.
Matt breaks down how one of his favorite coach F’d around with the football Gods and found out, what to do with star injury returns in the prop market, and why he feels no guilt about the Rams getting away with a late-game facemask.
Then Matt talks about quite a night for Kyle McCord.
Matt closes the show with all the usual podcast-only bets for the weekend, including “Hook ‘n’ Ladder” where he goes searching for a player set to pop off this Sunday.

How he landed on Adam Scott as his in-tournament bet of choice before Saturday’s third round, only to see things fly out of control at Oakmont on Sunday, as JJ Spaun pulls off a stunning comeback. I’ve been into football betting for about a year now, and it’s been pretty fun. I like checking stats at https://1x-bet-ghana.org/promo-code and placing small bets on weekend games. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, but it adds excitement to watching matches. I stick to teams I follow closely. It feels more personal that way. Just don’t overdo it.
