The Beatles: Now and Then

This bi-weekly program is a labor of love from a life-long Beatles Fan. I want to give back to the Beatles community a bit of the joy that I have been given from the Beatles. I will give personal insight to the music of the Beatles as well as relevant interviews from the Fab Four themselves. You will hear Beatles and solo tracks, cover versions and mash-ups. I do appreciate any donations via PayPal that will help me keep this Podcast alive and all funds donated will go toward equipment and resources for use on this program. If you have any questions, suggestions or constructive comments, you can email NowhereMan@BeatlesPodcast.net or call my Beatles Now & Then Hotline at 1(626)217-0336. The Beatles:Now & Then Premiere Episode - The Decca Auditions

After 2 years I feel that I need to repost the original episode of my short-lived podcast series 'The Beatles: Now & Then - The Decca Auditions'. You get facts about the January 1st, 1962 Decca Auditions and the songs that they performed. You be the judge. Were these 'The Beatles' that we know and love or was Decca correct in not signing them? Let me know in your comments! Nowhere Man (Robert Barnes) March 18, 2012

The Beatles Now & Then - John's I's

In this episode we will hear 12 John Lennon songs that are his 'I' songs. Not the eyes that John used to give us his unique view of the world around him, but his I's as in 'I Feel Fine', 'I Am The Walrus' & 'I Should Have Known Better'. Amazingly enough, 8 of these 12 songs were written and recorded in 1964 with the last 4 songs being recorded 1 per year from 1966 to 1969. John was a very personal and introspective song writer and listening to these songs gives us insight into what was going on in his head (and life) more than in his interviews. Here's the lineup: 1. If I Fell 2. I Should Have Known Better 3. I Call Your Name 4. I'll Be Back 5. I'll Cry Instead 6. I'm A Loser 7. I Don't Want To Spoil The Party 8. I Feel Fine 9. I'm Only Sleeping 10. I Am The Walrus 11. I'm So Tired 12. I Want You (She's So Heavy)

The Beatles Now & Then - Double Fantasy Outtakes & Alternates

In this week's episode of The Beatles:Now & Then I bring you some songs from John Lennon's Double Fantasy Sessions from 1980. Some of the songs in todays episode have been edited (by myself) to progress from the demos through to a more familiar sounding mix that is yet different from the released versions. (My edits are not even close to what Geoff Emerick could do, but I'm on a $0 budget.) Also included is an outtake of an unreleased cover of John performing 'Dream Lover/Stay' medley live in the studio and a working version of John & Yoko's Happy X-Mas (War Is Over) without the Harlem Children's Choir and an alternate take of (Imagine). Here's the track list for this week's episode: 1. Dream Love/Stay 2. Woman 3. Dear Yoko 4. Watching The Wheels 5. Beautiful Boy 6. (Just Like) Starting Over 7. I Am The Walrus (Parody) 8. Happy X-Mas (War Is Over) 9. Imagine

The Beatles: Now & Then - The Beatles Amazing Harmonies

This week's bi-weekly episode features some of the Beatles Amazing harmonies that were their trade-mark during their early years with such tunes as 'Hold Me Tight' and 'To Know Her Is To Love Her', but even on Abbey Road and Let It Be, they showed us that they could harmonize like no other group with 'Sun King', 'Because' and 'Two of Us'. Hear these songs and more in Episode 7 of 'The Beatles: Now & Then'.
