Should I name my business myname.com or somethingelse.com? This is such a great question and we can tell you that most of us entrepreneurs have wondered about this as we embarked into new ventures. In the case of yoga teachers the short and sweet answer is that the most effective business name for you is yourname.com. We get into the nuts and bolts of why that is and make some important distinctions in our short podcast, but here is the plain truth - your name is what people will be searching for when they look you up, and the one thing you are certain will not change in your business is: YOU. One of the questions we most often hear from yoga teachers is: how do I stand out? Teachers spend a lot of money and time on branding and marketing strategies mostly because they feel that if they are not ‘unique’ they will blend in with all the other teachers. Yet, what we have found is that the teachers that do stand out are the ones who are clear about their personal "why." In other words, the teachers who connect with their individual purposes, and are able to speak from that place, do not need to worry about standing out. Your why is your brand; it's what makes you unique, it's your own story. Three Tips to Managing Time and Staying Focused What if you were told that your freedom can only be born out of a certain structure? Think of yoga poses - when the foundation is properly placed, don't we then feel free to fly high and expansively? So it is with our time, finances, and business. Creating a strong foundation, a great structure, will help us achieve the kind of time, money and freedom for creative expression we long so much to have. There are some essential foundational elements to help us create this structure, and all of these have to do with managing tasks appropriately. In our episode today we cover these life changing task management tools that you can start applying today. Here is the first of the three: stop multi-tasking. If you were told in the past that multi-tasking is a great skill to have, here is what science has already proven to us: anytime we shift our focus from a task at hand, to go on to another task, we not only miss the five minutes away from what we were doing, but we actually take anywhere between 11 and 30 minutes to return to our level of focus from before we became distracted... If you do this repeatedly throughout the day, you can imagine how much time you can lose with these ‘small’ interruptions. Stay focused, give yourself two hour blocks to complete your tasks, and then in between tasks, check emails, social-media and your laundry. We have two more incredibly powerful teachings around task management so you can build a foundation, stay focused and create the freedom you deserve!
