Well… Welcome

Aaron Giordano, CCS Golf Course Superintendent

On the podcast, Aaron and I talk about the 2019 season. Due to a harsh northeast winter and early spring with fluctuating conditions and temperatures, The Country Club of Scranton suffered some intense winter damage on our greens. Aaron wasn’t phased, he piloted his crew through rough waters and by mid-summer members and guests alike were saying the course has never looked better.  Aaron is as hard working as he is humble. He is dedicated to his craft and extremely knowledgeable in all things turf. He will seek and use any resource necessary to provide the best and most consistent playing conditions here at the country club of Scranton. With big shoes to fill, Aaron has met and exceeded the high expectations and standards we have here at the country club of Scranton. He is a true professional in every sense of the word.

El Chapo's Defense Attorney, William Purpura

The podcast up to this point has stayed in the arena of sports with guest like professional golfer Branden Matthews and Penn State and NFL Quarterback Matt McGloin. For today’s episode we delve into the arena of Law and Justice. Our guest is William Purpura. William Purpura is a Defense attorney from Baltimore, whose most famous if not his most notorious client is Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, the purported kingpin of Mexico's Sinaloa Cartel. Of course, a question lawyers like Williams Purpura are frequently asked is “How can you defend those people?” To a lawyer like William Purpura, the answer is that everyone is entitled to a defense, and every one is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. In “defending those people,” the guilty and the innocent, the righteous and even the “el Chapos” of the world, defense attorneys are challenging the State to be fairer, more accurate, and more just. I recently had the opportunity and honor to sit down with William Purpura in his Baltimore office. We discuss the journey from a kid in North Jersey to a high profile defense attorney for some of the most infamous criminals in the United States. We talk about what inspired him to become a lawyer and his calling to defend the un-defendable. We obviously spend a good amount time talking about Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, but also discuss some of his other clients as well. It was very eye opening experience and discussion for me and hope you enjoy it as well.
