Steve Annear is CEO of the Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinson's and he is about to embark on the Kilimanjaro Challenge. He plans to climb to the summit Africa's highest peak to raise awareness and garner support for the new Kirk Gibson Center for Parkinson's Wellness, which opens in Farmington Hills on October 6. What's even more amazing than the trek itself, is that Annear will climb the mountain on crutches. He lost his left leg at age 11 due to a blood circulation problem but his physical limitations have not stopped him from meeting and exceeding challenges.Learn more about Steve's story and Gibson's vision for the 30,000 foot facility that will serve the Parkinson's community in southeast Michigan and beyond.The former Tiger great was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2015 and he battles the disease day by day by remaining physically active. Dan Kildee spent more than a decade in Congress representing Michigan districts eight and five, which included his hometown of Flint. First elected in November, 2012, Kildee, a democrat, elected not to seek an eighth term, retiring from Congress in January, 2025.Upon leaving office, Kildee was named President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. He was also named the next Robert and Marjorie Griffin Endowed Chair in American Government at Central Michigan University, his alma mater. Keith Gave covered the Red Wings for 15 years as beat writer for the Detroit Free Press. He was there as the team won the Stanley Cup back-to-back in 1997 and 1998.
