Pray for us and with us as we meet at the Throne of Grace. America needs an answer from God right now.
Harriet was inspired by the words of Psalm 46:4- There Is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God—
Sometimes our choices and decisions cause us to be imprisoned. Prison is not always defined as a place where the government has control over you, but a place in your mind, or choices we have made.
It’s like #JimCrow laws all over again as Republican legislatures seek to enact voter suppression initiatives against Black and Brown people. Meanwhile China has amassed the 2nd largest Navy Fleet in the world. Do with that as you will
Romans 8:27 (NKJV) says all things work together four good (paraphrased). Comforting words in times of trial, when nothing seems to be working, when the thing you need the most, is not happening. Public policies fail, politicians fail to deliver on accountability and promises. You are left bereft and reeling from disasters, economic and natural. Take comfort in this Scripture.
Texas is recovering from the snowstorm that caused the state’s power grid to collapse and left millions without electricity during freezing weather. For days, millions of Texans lived without power, sufficient warmth, accessible roads or empathy from certain elected officials. While millions of residents starved, froze and went hungry, their elected officials flew to Cancun and Florida to soak up the sun. With one of the hallmark tenets of Republicanism being ‘ pull yourself up by your bootstraps’ it is no wonder that politicians-White, wealthy, male- left their constituents to fend for themselves. Is this ‘every man for himself’ era of politicking truly working for the American people?
The Republican Party has become the party of the far far right, given to extremism. Conspiracy theories abound and fomented by the former President, that fueled a riot at The Capitol on Jan. 6. What are they afraid of about that day that if Americans learn the truth, would jeopardize their chances in #2022 and #2024?
The Qanon conspiracy has at it’s base a theory that the government is being run by satanists and sex traffickers and that Donald Trump, ( No kidding) is the man who who can save the country from this. Many of their followers played a prominent role in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, incited by Donald Trump.
A failed President in an attempt to overturn an election, incited a mob to run up on elected representatives while the legislature was in session. This action whether he thought it through or not, brought America to civil war, not fought with guns, but a war nonetheless of ideas and ideals, on how we govern, how we rule each other, how we distribute the wealth of the country and how we vote. America at a crossroads. Do we continue to be the shining city on a hill, or do we devolve into our baser instincts of racism and racial inequality.
America is a Republic. She needs to be protected from radical seditious Americans. The impeachment serves to be a deterrent to the next populous leader who wants absolute power.
The Republican Party whose leader is Donald Trump, incited a riot on the US Capitol in Washington DC on January 6th, 2021. Trump who lost the November 3, 2020 general elections refused to accept the results and mounted challenges in battleground states at every judicial level. Through social media he radicalized fringe elements of the Republican Party and invited them to Washington to fight on his behalf, to have the election results decertified. All the while the Republican establishment was radio silent as trump dangerously incited a riot. Terroists stormed the Capitol, calling for ‘Hang Mike Pence’ to vice-President Mike Pence, trump’s second-in-command, stormed the offices of Speaker Pelosi, rummaging through the hallowed halls of Congress, armed to the teeth, with every weaponry lobbied for by the National Rifle Association (NRA) screaming for members of Congress. The Republican Party decimated the sanctity of the halls of Congress and invited rioters to storm it. Own it.
Wednesday January 6,202, will go down in Infamy. It was the day trump supporters who had just left a rally organized by trump and his allies, incited a mob to stage a hostile take-over of the U. S. Capitol in Washington, DC. From all accounts this was an insurrection and a coup. All 435 members of Congress and 100 Senators, including the vice-president, a trump loyalist, were inside. Was this mob trying to simulate the George Floyd protests? What was their agenda? Did they have a civil rights grievance or did they just feel left out, because after all they are white, they were not shot at, beaten or rubber bullet pelleted. From all indications, barriers were removed, police took selfies with them while they robbed and pillaged the bastion of American democracy.
The year 2020 has gone down in history as one of the worst years in civilization. What can we expect of 2021? Does it mean that 2020 was a dress rehearsal or that 2020 won?
In the age of the coronavirus, questions surrounding the safety of returning to office spaces abound. Under new ruling by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, or the EEOC, employers are entitled and required to ensure safe workspaces.
U.S. Congressional leaders have reached agreement on a $900B package to provide the first new aid in months to an economy hammered by the coronavirus pandemic, the Senate’s top Republican and Democrats said on Sunday, but it remained unclear when Congress would vote to seal the deal. After living in a global pandemic for almost a whole year, people have been evicted, experienced job loss, unspeakable mourning, and the like. Now we are supposed to be grateful to our elected leaders for providing starving constituents a paltry $600 while said politicians earn $130,000 per year.
The coronavirus pandemic had unleashed a bonanza for untested contractors riding a wave of unprecedented demand and scarcity of everything from hand sanitizers to ICU beds. So far the administration of Donald Trump has ah fed out at least $5.1 billion in no-bid contracts to address pandemic, federal data purchasing shows. The VA , far more than any agency appeared to be awarding contracts to little-known vendors in search of Poe.
Westport, Connecticut is one example of a wealthy suburb that has surrounded itself with invisible walls to block access to affordable housing. The otherwise politically liberal date has kept its low-income housing concentrated in poor cities, an imbalance that hasn’t budged in thirty years. Zoning boards rely on regulations often containing coded, racist language to block the construction of privately developed duplexes and apartment building within their borders. The impact is most felt by Black and Brown residents of Connecticut, who live in some of the nation’s most segregated neighborhoods.
