In service-oriented or membership-based businesses, (such as music schools), there is a natural ebb and flow of students. However, some students remain engaged for significantly longer, sometimes spanning years to decades. Is there a magic formula that keeps students with us for extended periods of time?
Nikki shares her recent visit to Ontario to see former students perform in Musical Theater shows and discusses the different musical journeys of three unique singers. Tying that together with helpful teacher considerations for celebrating students and improved communication for better student retention.
Friends and colleagues! Nikki and the Full Voice Team wish you the happiest of seasons and best wishes for an exciting and prosperous New Year.

Artistic Embodiment Coach Sarah Rockwood discusses celebrating and nurturing our artistic selves. Sarah also offers straightforward techniques for rekindling our creativity and redefining the concept of being an 'artist,' irrespective of whether we engage in formal performances.
About Sarah Rockwood
I'm a singer/songwriter, actor, author, director, playwright, music producer, artistic embodiment coach, inexhaustible optimist, and unflinchingly forthright human being.
At my core, I am a storyteller. The form simply changes based on the needs of the tale; some become songs, others novels, and some stories can be told with a simple moment of stillness. However, there are clear themes that run through my work: the pain of being misunderstood, the joy of discovery, and the deep calm that comes from embracing one's power.
I bring this energy to my coaching as I help artists stand at the leading edge of their greatness and build lives that fully represent them.

We all get nervous about price increases. Teachers lose sleep, worrying about what would happen if they raised rates with a slight increase. What would happen if you DOUBLED your rates? Bethany did the math and discovered that she needed a significant increase to make a living. Did it work out for her? Did she lose all her students?... Listen to the season eight premiere episode and find out!
About our guest
Bethany is a voice and piano teacher from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. She works with singers of all ages and teaches private and small group classes. Bethany received her Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Western Ontario. Her interdisciplinary research on voice image is about the psychology of being a singer and how singers relate to their voices.
When Bethany is not working, she likes to read, help at the local community theatre, and take her dog Penny for walks. This fall, She will be returning to school full-time for Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology while she continues to teach full-time. (Because sleep is for the weak, apparently.)
