JSS: 19 Michael Andrew, Vaccines, and Political Bias

Andrew‘s refusal to vaccinate before Tokyo caused quite the uproar in the swimming community. The reaction got me thinking about political bias - on both sides of the aisle - and how both the left and right need to think clearly and without bias regarding issues of national prominence. Both sides are to blame. Both sides value emotions over facts. Both sides need to wake up to the reality of the truth - the overwhelming majority of us are biased in our thinking.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jakeshell/support

Hire for attitude, Train for skills. We’ve heard it before, but how many of us take it to heart? How much time does the average college senior spend on resume building vs. attitude building? Here at Liberty we teach our women that attitude comes first, and to be ruthless with their improvement thereof.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jakeshell/support

JSS: 12 Prestige, Degrees, & Certifications vs. Results

Early in my coaching career I believed certifications and degrees were the end all be all, the proverbial golden ticket. 15 years later I know better, and I encourage all young coaches to give this one a listen. Results > Certifications.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jakeshell/support

JSS: 04 Education vs. Motivation

Many leadership gurus, management thinkers, and health experts tend to push the narrative that a lack of education is to blame for many of our societal shortcomings and lack of high performance in life. I disagree, respectfully, and in today’s episode I push back against the narrative, sharing an article I wrote on the topic. I believe it is a lack of motivation and desire, not education, that keeps us from attaining the best version of ourselves.
