Award-Winning, Finnish Blues Singer and Songwriter Ina Forsman calls in to The Junk and Jam Hour - all the way from Berlin, Germany - to discuss the joys and challenges of the work she had to put in to ensure that her latest, and third solo album, entitled 'All There Is' , was not just an exceptional collection of soul and blues music, but one that showcased her growth and evolution as an artist. Hailed as a contemplative songwriter, and a "vocal powerhouse," Ina's amazing musical journey began when she declared at six-years-old, that she was going to.be a singer, and started touring with a band at the age of 17. Other than discussing her upbringing, Ina shares her inspiration for some of her latest music, in particular lyrics that were born from the conversations she has recently had with the men in her life, and how some of the music was derived from the classic Motown sound. She also shares her passion for the blues genre, and how it has shaped her as an artist of soul. We also listen to and discuss her latest tracks, Don't Lose Today, a song about how our angst for building a better future for ourselves and loved ones, makes us easily forget how important it is to make the most of today, as well as Poor Heart, a song about our challenges with perseverance.   For more music by Ina Forsman, including her album All There Is - which critics have called a profound body of work - visit Ina Forsman For more about Junk and Jam, visit Junk and Jam Also visit Radio Free Brooklyn Background/bed music provided by freebeats.io

Hip-Hop Artist, Lyricist, Producer and Activist Luna Clipse calls in to The Junk and Jam Hour - all the way from Bulgaria - to talk about his triumphant journey in music, which began when he was mentored by his grandfather, who happened to be an extraordinary big band jazz musician, yet was so much of a stern tutor, that it led Luna to discover his own unique way of how to compose music for himself. Challenged by his own mental illness, Luna opens up about his very first bipolar manic episode, that found him alone in a hotel room hearing voices and visions that specifically called upon him to stop a looming apocalypse - which led to a dramatic scene enough for him to be imprisoned at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility for the Criminally Insane - the largest mental institution in the U.S. Luna talks about how he quickly learned how to use rhyming - or clang association - as a means to communicate with his other inmates, a particular trait that those inflicted with psychotic phases of bipolar disorder share; and the importance of building relationships with his fellow inmates - all of whom had to survive constant physical, emotional and mental abuse at the hands of those who ran the institution. Luna talks about how he aggressively used his trauma and anger he harbored after his release in local rap battles, until Jerry Wonda - multi-Grammy Award winning producer for the Fugees, Justin Bieber and Michael Jackson - convinced him to not only use that pain more positively to create music with a purpose, but to also be a voice for all those affected by bipolar and other mental ailments. We also listen to and discuss his debut track entitled, 'Lunacy' - and Luna gifts us with a special, impromptu lyrical evocation of the experience of being driven mad, his life spinning out of control, and the trauma that ensued. He also talks about his important work to destigmatize mental health issues, and how he - along with his partnership with NAMI - are making the cause and topic of mental illness, 'sexy' enough to care and talk about, and blesses us with the track, 'Scalped Eagle', produced with Havoc of the infamous Mobb Deep. Vocalist and Guitarist Trevor Sullivan, as well as Vocalist and Keyboardist Jon Garniss of 5-Piece Punk-Rock Theater-Emo Band Bullpup, Zoom in to The Junk and Jam Hour - along with their inanimate friend Stanley - to chat about their early journeys in music, leading up to their incredible collaboration in producing music that speaks to their authenticity, vivacity, queerness and their courage to call out societal bullsh*t. On topic is their new music, including the beautifully gritty, 'Veronica Sawyer's Big Day Out' , featuring Glynnis Brennan of Indie Pop Band Shallow Pools, in which the music and lyrics carefully recounts the pain and frustration that assault survivors - including those within the LGBTQ+ community - continually endure, as well as narrate their own experiences as it relates to homophobia, transphobia and sexual violence. In speaking of their new music and upcoming album Be Evil, which they boldly tackle the world's heaviest subjects, they give a considerable hat tip to the contributions of their recent member and guitarist Robby Beland, for pushing them out of their comfort zone to be their most capable selves and musicians - and talk about why they felt so compelled to make a record that calls out the sketchiness of the industry. Folk-Rock Singer, Songwriter, Composer, Poet, Wordsmith and Entrepreneur Jason Matu calls in to The Junk and Jam Hour via Zoom to share his journey in music, which is the culmination of his love of the craft of creative writing, ultimately leading him to discover his own musicianship during his law school edification - specifically acquired to serve his future goal of starting his very own record company! As the CEO and Founder of his own law firm, it was inevitable that music related matters would become an integral part of his practice, leading us into a discussion about the early mistakes music artists eager for a record deal make, and the importance for content creators to clear music and adhere to copyright statutes.
