Alan Mcdonald joined the Victorian Police Force in 1961 and after an interesting and varied career in the Force he ended up as the OC of "D24" in Russell street Melbourne. The name "D24" for the major police communications center in Melbourne during the 1980s originated from its physical location within the Russell Street Police Headquarters. Specifically, it referred to the Victoria Police Information Bureau, which was housed in Corridor D, Room 24 of the headquarters. This designation became the callsign for the central radio dispatch center, which managed all emergency calls (via 000, 11444, or from police stations) and coordinated communications with police units across Victoria. The D24 center was staffed by experienced serving police officers and used a dedicated "Batphone" speed-dial system to contact stations, with all communications and calls being tape-recorded. The name "D24" stuck as a shorthand for this critical hub of police operations, which was also featured in a popular radio drama series in the 1950s and later in the TV series Homicide.

I used to watch my daughter Catherine teach an imaginary class in our backyard when she was 5 years old. Back then I knew she could be a great teacher.Fast forward 20 odd years and Catherine finds herself standing at the front of a classroom filled with 30 eager faces. But as she navigated the ins and outs of the education system, she couldn't help but feel a sense of disillusionment. It led her to question the very core of our educational institutions.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PsLRgEYf9E
My eldest daughter Olivia uncovers a love story like a true detective, a story about her Grandmother and the father she never knew.
This story is about a retired man named Gerard Donohue, and his journey involving a concept known as a "writ." In the context of elections and electoral systems, a writ is often used to call for elections, outlining crucial details like the election date, location, and other essential information. Gerard's life story takes a unique turn with his passionate advocacy for electoral reform in Australia. Born and raised in Country Victoria, Gerard's retirement didn't mean he was done with making a difference. Inspired by the imprimatur given to him by his wife and driven by his love for his ten children and grandchildren, Gerard is on a mission to address the issues he perceives within the Australian electoral system.
