The Phillies might have the best rotation in baseball in 2025, if newly acquired left-hander Jesús Luzardo is healthy following an injury-plagued 2024. Luzardo spoke with Phillies reporters on Monday. He discussed his injured back and why he thinks it is a thing of the past.Big, if true. But if Luzardo (or any other Phillies starter) isn’t healthy, the Phillies should be better protected after signing Joe Ross to a one-year, $4 million deal. He provides starting pitching depth, although he is expected to open the season in the bullpen. How does the Phillies’ bullpen look now? What does it mean for Taijuan Walker and others? The Phillies Show has swag! Barring a miracle, Juan Soto isn’t signing with the Phillies. He has received multiple $600 million offers, according to Fair Territory’s Ken Rosenthal. Soto could make a decision before the end of next week’s Winter Meetings in Dallas. We said on this show last week that the Phillies had not met with Soto. We even wondered if an offer would be made. It turns out, the Phillies have not made an offer.None of this should come as a surprise. The Phillies were never considered serious suitors for Soto, despite speculation. Still, we talk about Soto’s situation and what comes next for the Phillies.Shibe Vintage Sports is giving away a FREE Mitchell & Ness Phillies hoodie to The Phillies Show listeners. It’s Thanksgiving Week, which means the holidays are here.Is there any chance that Juan Soto signs with the Phillies? They have not met yet with Soto, but there are expectations they will. Regardless, the Phillies’ chances at signing Soto remains a longshot.Ruben, Jim and Todd get into the holiday spirit by talking about what they’re thankful for in the game of baseball.Todd will be signing copies of “Doc: The Life of Roy Halladay” on Saturday, November 20 from noon to 2 p.m. at the New Era Phillies Team Store at Citizens Bank Park. Phillies ace Zack Wheeler finished second for NL Cy Young for the second time in the four years. This year, he finished behind Atlanta’s Chris Sale.We discuss the vote, but also dig into an interesting story by MLB.com’s Mike Petriello, who suggests Wheeler is on a Hall of Fame track anyway. He needs a few more dominant years to put him into serious contention, but there is a strong argument to be made.We also discuss Friday night’s non-tender deadline. Is Austin Hays non-tendered?There’s some Juan Soto and Roki Sasaki talk and 40-man roster stuff, too!The holidays are here. Need a gift for the Phillies fan in your life? John Middleton said Friday at Penn that “we’ll probably not win” the Juan Soto sweepstakes. It’s not a surprise, but it was as candid as anybody had been in talking about the Phillies’ chances to sign the superstar outfielder. So, the Phillies don’t expect to sign Soto. Do they have any chance at signing Japanese right-hander Roki Sasaki? His team announced they will post him for MLB teams, but everybody considers West Coast teams like the Dodgers, Giants and Padres to have a huge advantage over the Phils, who have not signed a Japanese player direct from Japan in their history. The guys also talk about the Phillies’ front office shake up and more.Get 10 FREE meals at HelloFresh.com/FREEFT. Dave Dombrowski keeps saying the Phillies are “open minded” this offseason. He said it last month following the Phillies’ early exit in the NLDS. He said it a few more times this week at the GM Meetings in San Antonio.“We need to be more open minded about possible moves.”Ruben, Jim and Todd think Dombrowski is telling everybody that he is going to make a trade. Do the Phillies have any chance at signing free-agent superstar Juan Soto? Dave Dombrowski said last month that he doesn’t think the Phillies need more star players. John Middleton said last week that it’s “hard to go much crazier with the payroll.”The Yankees and Mets are the heavy favorites to land Soto because they have the most money to spend.Ruben, Jim and Todd lay out the reasons why Soto won’t sign with the Phillies. But they also come up with scenarios in which they could surprise people.Visit MINTMOBILE.com/Territory where all 3-month plans are only $15 a month, including the Unlimited plan.@The Phillies Show Subscribe to the show on YouTube and follow us on social media!@Foul Territory We’re part of the Foul Territory Network.
