In this super personal episode, I talk about a healing process I had from a relationship in my early 20s. It took 15 years for me to realize how the events in that relationship impacted every relationship I had after and the journey it took to heal it and come out on the other side free of anger, shame and guilt and actually let down my guard to be loved again.

In this episode I talked with Julia an aspiring actress, writer, soon-to-be author and singer. She was adopted at the age of 3 months old from the Dominican Republic and her adopted mom was a single white woman. Her mom also went on to adopt another child, an African-American boy. Julia navigated many challenges growing up in a Suburban white neighborhood not looking like anyone else. We talk about those struggles and how she found her confidence inside this episode. Ashley Short is an occupational therapist who, for the past 12 years, has worked with people of all ages, assisting them in living life as fully and optimally as possible after illness, injury or disability. After having her own health transformation a few years back, she turned her love for people and wellness into a coaching business where she now assists women in reaching their health goals through lifestyle habits that last.  Among her many health related achievements, Ashley has not only completed multiple half-marathons but also has completed a triathlon and 2 bikini competitions.  She lives an action filled life and when she is not coaching or doing occupational therapy, you’ll find her at the gym, at dog beach, paddle boarding or traveling the world.
