What if I told you that you’ve been taking notes WRONG your whole entire life. Alright well that was pretty dramatic. But the truth is, when I work with students they have no idea what they’re doing when it comes to notes. Should it should be by hand or on their computer, should they write down everything the teacher says or put it in their own words. And worst of all they spend all this time writing these pretty notes with every pen color in the rainbow, just to never to look at them again. So, In this episode of the student performance podcast, I’m going to take a deep dive into the literature on note taking to teach you how to remember everything you write down. Hello everyone, welcome to the student performance podcast, I’m your host Brent Shaw.  The pandemic has highlighted that being a student has a whole lot more to do than just studying. Many of us have felt isolated, unfulfilled, and burned out. It begs the question, what good are straight-A’s if you aren’t able to enjoy the fruits of your labor?   That’s why in these episodes we are going to dive deeper into concepts that you never knew had such an impact on your wellbeing as a student. Things like exercise, meditation, sleep, nutrition, cold exposure all of which will not only transform your life in the classroom but will help you live a more fulfilled life outside of it as well.   There are so many podcasts and educational programs that give you information but don’t give you actionable steps to implement it into your lives. Whether you are a high school student, in college, graduate school, or maybe you aren’t currently in school but identify yourself as a “student for life” each episode will provide you with the tools to make changes right after you listen to it.   Here’s an example of an episode breakdown. First I’ll dive deep into the science and literature of the topic we are covering. It will have things like the neurochemistry of your brain to what experiments have been performed on humans to back up the science we are discussing. Then I’ll end each episode with specific protocols you can implement in your life as soon as possible.   I’ve also been lucky enough to be connected with world leaders that I’ll be interviewing so you can hear information right from the horse’s mouth.   If you are looking for “quick fixes” that will transform your life as a student in an instant you came to the wrong podcast. We want to make lasting change in our lives and with that comes hard work and discipline. I’m here to give you the principles and actions to change, but you still got to do the work, especially when you’re not “feeling like it”  I’m extremely excited to begin this journey with you and I hope you’ll pass along the information you’ve learned from these episodes with a friend as well.
