In today's episode of The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast Kat is joined by Shauna Moran — a systemic team coach and executive coach who specialises in workplace burnout prevention. Shauna’s work comes from lived experience: after multiple burnouts in her own corporate career she went back to study psychology, qualified as an executive coach, and wrote The Book of Managing Employee Burnout (2021). In this frank, practical conversation we peel back and unpack what burnout really is, how it shows up in the body and the workplace, why self-care alone won’t solve systemic stress, and practical steps for leaders and individuals to reduce chronic workplace harm and reclaim wellbeing. Evidence, nervous-system tools and real, usable ideas. If you are a leader and care about showing up better for the people and work you love or you are experiencing burnout, tune in, this episode is for youThank you for tuning in! 🙏 If this episode resonated with you, or if you believe it could benefit someone else, please consider sharing it.❤️ Show your support for Kat by leaving a star rating on Spotify and hitting the follow/subscribe button. Your support helps the show to grow!Key points covered:What burnout actually is: WHO classifies it as an occupational phenomenon caused by chronic, prolonged workplace stress that hasn’t been successfully managed. How burnout shows up: Emotional and physical exhaustion, cynicism/withdrawal, sleep disruption, drop in cognitive clarity — and long-term risks like depression.Five stages of burnout (overview): honeymoon → onset of stress → chronic stress/withdrawal → habitual burnout; later stages are harder to recover from.Three Pillars to Burnout Reduction (Shauna’s framework):Individual pillar: personal regulation, boundaries, non-negotiables, self-care practices and personal development.Leadership pillar: leaders’ behaviours, unfair treatment, psychological safety, and leaders’ ability/skill to support teams.Organisation pillar: systemic factors — workload design, meetings culture, role clarity, resourcing and processes.Unmanageable workload is a major root cause: realistic timelines, role clarity and resource gaps drive burnout — rest alone won’t fix a systemic workload problem.Use data to advocate for change: track actual hours, task lists and time spent to move conversations from “I feel overwhelmed” to evidence-based requests for resources or reprioritisation.Self-care vs systemic change: self-care helps regulate you but is not a cure when chronic stressors remain — organisations must change systems, not only tell individuals to cope better.Nervous-system & neuroscience work: Shauna blends neuro-science (how we form new patterns), polyvagal theory and nervous-system regulation to help leaders and teams create safety and better decision-making.Practical personal practices Shauna uses: daily self-ratings (mental clarity, emotional state, physical energy, spiritual connection) to tune into needs and plan the day.Leadership, vulnerability & duality: leaders showing appropriate vulnerability and processed regulation model resilience — you can hold multiple realities (joy + grief) at once.Concrete steps for people in high-pressure roles (doctors, nurses, NHS contexts): collect workload data, ask for prioritisation, propose specific resource solutions (hire/delegate/prioritise), and create short-term plans while longer hires are arranged.Honesty & authenticity: being open about limits (when appropriate) helps set human norms; “bubble baths aren’t going to fix burnout” — systemic fixes are required.CONNECT WITH KAT:Kat's Instagram: @thewellbeingwandererKat's website: www.wellbeingwanderer.com Kat's YouTube: @wellbeingwandererBook your free consultation: Click hereCONNECT WITH SHAUNA:Website: www.shaunamoran.comLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shaunamoran/

Your intuition/instinct and body are often more truthful guides. The Power of Presence: Stillness and tuning inwards — even for just a few minutes — can shift your energetic state and unlock peace.Rewriting the Narrative: You can't always control your first thought, but you can choose your second. Happiness is a choice in each moment.Meditation Myths Debunked: Meditation isn’t about a blank mind. It’s about creating space between you and your thoughts — a powerful daily reset.Gratitude as a Gateway: A consistent gratitude practice grounds you in the present and opens the door to deeper joy.The Illusion of Control: Let go of attachment to outcomes. When you're energetically free, you become a magnet for what you want most.Coaching Invitation: For those seeking deeper transformation, one-on-one wellbeing coaching is open — a safe space to heal, grow, and rise.End quote by: Groucho MarxCONNECT WITH KAT:Kat's Instagram: @thewellbeingwandererKat's website: www.wellbeingwanderer.com Book your free consultation: Click here

In today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat returns after a long break to share why she took time off and explores how we all have our own unique life phases and the best ways to navigate where you are at. If you are feeling like you are in a place you weren't expecting to be in and are struggling to accept where you are then this episode is for you. Key points covered in today's episode: Kat shares a bit about what she has been doing for the last 5 months and why she has been absent. How taking a step back and resting helps to re regulate your body, gain perspective, clear your mind and make room for new things to come to you. How Kat has manifested a boyfriend and he is everything she wrote down that she wanted from a partner and that if she hadn't have rested she probably wouldn't have been ready to receive him into her life. By identifying the phase of the life you are in and by tuning into yourself you can then honour what you and your body & mind & soul need. That we are oftentimes heavily influenced by others and society and what they expect from us and adjust our behaviour accordingly, ignoring our own true needs. Kat talks about the metamorphosis/butterfly phase where you are transitioning to a new version of you, you are not quite there but you are on your way. That there is no right or wrong in this life, only what is making acceptance your liberator. What to expect from future episodes of The Wellbeing Wanderer podcast including more from a functional diagnostic perspective. In today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat talks about how living life simply makes you healthier and happier. Kat has spent many months living in the popular 'Blue Zone' of Guanacaste in Costa Rica where people tend to live longer than the average person and adopt a 'Pura Vida' (the pure life) lifestyle. If you are feeling overwhelmed by life, overstimulated, over worked or burnt out and then this episode is for you. Key points covered in today's episode: Kat shares a bit about the commonalities between blue zones around the world and how people live more simply, slowly and for longer How in 1st world, westernised countries like the UK and the US we are over stressed through overdoing, overstimulation and bombarded by sensory visuals and information and it is stress that leads to disease. How for a long while Kat removed all the extra stressors in her life that were overstimulating her brain including the news, TV and Netflix. That creating space to just be with yourself and be present without any background distractions like TV or music will help you to find more peace. How booking at least a week of no plans, no schedules, literally nothingness is incredibly healing for you. Slowing down is a key piece to healing the body and the mind. That we don't need Netflix, TV, mobile phones and there was a time when none of these things existed and they have a negative effect on us. These dopamine rich stimulants detach you from yourself and lead to anxiety. The closer to nature we are and what's natural, the healthier we feel and the more space we have to form connections to ourselves and others. Try to spend more time with whatever nature you have available to you will help you to destress and lower cortisol levels. How eating food close to source means it is more nutrient dense and will therefore help your body function better How people living simply have more of an active lifestyle which contributes to good health. That being in a community is so healing because we a re tribal beings and are not meant to live alone, for thousands of years we lived in tribes. In today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat reveals how she has recently become aware that she'd slipped into victim mode and was blaming everything around her for her current situation without taking any responsibility . Kat shares how to free yourself from this disempowering place and hopes you will leave the episode feeling positive and powerful. If you have been feeling like everything keeps going wrong for you, maybe you have a lot of bad luck or life never seems to go the way you want then this episode is for you. Key points covered in today's episode: Kat explains what being in victim mode means, how it feels and why she has fallen into this place again Kat shares how she feels embarrassed, ashamed and not good enough on the current outcome of her business and love life. That getting out of victim mode requires taking an honest look at yourself, taking responsibility for the fact you are where you are and not placing the blame outside of yourself. It is up to you to change your mental and emotional state and seek help to shift your perspective and change your inner narrative, nobody can do that for you. How life will likely give you a wake up call to snap you out of your self pity and things are happening for you and there is a reason for your situation making you feel worse. That you can't control life around you but you can change how you feel on the inside by looking at your conditioning, removing negativity and regulating your body. The universe only responds to energy so even if something really bad has happened to you and you feel justifiably sad, it will match that frequency. It's nothing personal. The different ways you can move negative energy through you and out of your body including movement, meditation and journalling. The concept of how everything in your external reality is a reflection of your internal beliefs. That Kat had the insight that she has not done enough inner work to create the reality she desires which is why her business is not where she wants it to be and has not met her person. What the observer effect is and a little about how quantum physics plays a role in creating the life you desire. The importance of not bypassing your negative emotions, to make sure you feel, experience and release them and not pushing them down. How you are much more powerful and stronger than you know and you can overcome your victim mindset. On today's guest episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat chats to Chris Rackliffe, a Anxious Attachment Style Coach and Author. Chris is also a trauma healer, a mental health advocate and author of the self-help book, It’s Good to See Me Again: How to Find Your Way When You Feel Lost—an illuminating guidebook on the journey to find emotional healing. If you struggle to have your emotional needs met in a relationship or identify that you display anxious or avoidant behaviour then this episode is for you. Key points covered in today's episode: Chris explains what attachment theory is and what the different attachment styles are including anxious, avoidant, disorganised and secure. That we tend to develop an insecure attachment style during childhood through trauma whether it's big or small and what trauma means. Chris shares what brought on his anxious attachment including the loss of his mother and the emotional distance between him and his father amongst other difficult personal traumas. That being disconnected from our care givers, physically and emotionally triggers our survival responses and causes trauma. How the different roles we play in childhood like for example 'the golden child' can deeply affect how we expect our needs to be met as adults. That you can develop insecure attachment styles in adult life through relationship traumas and sometimes over or under-compensate our behaviour Why you need emotional and nervous system regulation in order to grow more and discover a secure attachment style and that your emotions live within your nervous system. The importance of taking accountability for your behaviour and not blaming or shaming yourself so that you can allow healing to take place. How self love is a key component for healing and that you have to love yourself into evolution, soften and open up more often than not. Every human will experience anxiety, fear, worry and doubt, what brings us into balance again and helps us heal is when we have the ability to hold those emotions and bounce back to a place of self love and trust. The most important piece of advice for finding an aligned romantic partner is to honour yourself and walk away from those who are not in alignment with your values. To remember you are NOT broken and you do NOT require fixing ❤️ End quote by James Clear Thank you for listening! 🙏 If this episode resonated with you or you know it will help someone else - please share it :) ❤️ Show your support and love for Kat by leaving a 5 star review on Spotify and by hitting the follow/subscribe button, this is how the show gets to grow bigger and better! In today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat speaks openly about the fact that despite being happy with herself she can't shake the feeling of loneliness and wanting to share her life with a partner but can't seem to meet the right guy. If you are in your 40's like Kat or even older and are single but want a partner and feeling frustrated and fed up with waiting, then this episode is for you. Key points covered in today's episode: Kat vulnerably shares how she has been feeling really unsettled for a while and how she's now realised the thing that's unsettling her is being single in her 40's. How it's perfectly normal to crave to be with a partner as this is part of being human and a primitive program. That happiness doesn't come into the desire to be with someone, Kat is very happy but she can't shake the feeling of loneliness. The role of the masculine and feminine and how the feminine is not designed to be alone. That it despite Kat attracting men to her she can't seemed to find the right one. How you can feel wonderful in yourself but despite working on yourself, doing all your inner work etc it doesn't guarantee you will find your partner and this is incredibly frustrating. In terms of spirituality there will be a reason why Kat has not found her partner, there is a lesson she can't see and that it will happen at the right time. It's impossible to stop the pain of loneliness and if the emotion is present it's the universes way of getting you to feel it. That you can only go as high as you go low and that this time alone being single is sacred and an opportunity to love yourself more deeply. The importance of working on the love for yourself and understanding your subconscious so that you can be happy in yourself. In today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat shares her experience of what happens when we over effort and push ourselves in the health and wellbeing space and how there come's a point where stopping and giving your ego permission to take control is required to feel balanced. If you have been over efforting and it's beginning to feel like an unnecessary chore, then this episode is for you. Key points covered in today's episode: Kat explains how over-efforting in her business and with her wellness practices has lead to burn out and and exhaustion and how to regain balance your body will likely take you to the opposite of what you've experienced. How intentionally allowing your ego to take over, be free and have a play is very healthy for you because your ego is a part of what it is to be human, always denying your ego means you're denying a part of yourself. Doing your inner work, living holistically, practicing self care and self love is still important and necessary to heal and feel happier inside, but you don't have to do this constantly. How when you feel really good about yourself and on the inside, the desire for your goals and dreams becomes lessoned because feeling happy inside IS the ultimate win and this is what Kat's experiencing. Kat share's how she is living her life now, in full surrender, walking through all the doors that open and allowing the doors that close to close, trusting in the flow of life and going along for the ride. There is so much power in neutrality and when we make decisions from a state of balance, calm and peace it leads us to a life in alignment with our highest self. How when you allow true surrender you release a lot of tension, drop anxiety and even the difficult things feel easy. That to get better at following your intuition, pause and pay attention to how each action you take feels within your body, what feels like a good feeling and where do you feel it and equally what feels wrong and where do you feel it? This helps you to seize the right opportunities for you. The happiest you get to be is right here right now, you don't have to wait for the thing that you think will make you happy. On today's guest episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat chats to Tal Saville, a Human Design Expert, spiritual life coach and energy healer. She has an obsession for all things energy and helps people re-discover their true selves so they can build their best lives through tools like Human Design, parts work, energy work, holistic healing, and more. For maximum personal insight, before listening to this enlightening episode, go check out which Human Design type you are over on Tal's website www.energywithtal.com If you are seeking to better understand who you are, why you are the way you are and want more clarity on your purpose then this episode is for you. Key points covered in today's episode: Tal breaks down what Human Design is and how it gives you a map to your energy and a tailored guide on how to live a healthy, happy and satisfying life. That Human Design is made up of 4 parts - The Kabbalah tree of life, the Chinese I-Ching system, Astrology and the Hindu Chakra system Tal shares what lead her to Human Design including the discovery that she was queer which lead her wanting to discover more about herself, getting a coach and eventually finding Human Design. How everything is just energy and that there is so much more to enjoy and delight in that the world we see and how we are meant for more. Tal explains the different types of Human Design including Generators, Manifesting Generators, Projectors, Manifestors and Reflectors. Each type is meant to feel a certain way in life - Generators and manifesting generators are meant to feel satisfied, Projectors are meant to feel successful, Manifestors are meant to feel peaceful and Reflectors are meant to feel surprised. When you are out of alignment and using your energy incorrectly, an opposite feeling will occur, for Generators it’s frustration, for a Projector it’s bitterness, for a Manifestor it’s anger and for a Reflector it’s disappointment. Listening to what feels right for you and tuning into your body will help move you towards a life that aligns to you. Tal explains what the defined and undefined parts of the body graph Human Design chart means and how the coloured parts mean you have consistent access to energy in those parts and can rely on and how the undefined parts highlight inconsistent energy and open to receiving energy from outside of you from other people and places and are therefore more vulnerable. Tal gives a mini Human Design reading using Kat’s Chart as an example to understand how to read a chart and what the different bits mean. How practicing how things feel in your body and understanding what is a a right feeling and a wrong feeling for you is your inner compass.
