In this episode of the Women in Health Tech Show, I speak to Dr. Reggie Sangha, Medical Director at Content Guru. We discuss Reggie's extensive career in frontline medical primary care, large scale healthcare projects, and future technologies like virtual wards and smart tech-enabled cities. Reggie shares insights from her time at CareUK (now Practice Plus Group), her involvement in healthcare innovation, and her thoughts on the rapid advancement of AI in the medical field. She also recollects the impact of her time at university, her move into leadership roles, and the importance of seizing opportunities. Dr Reggie Sangha has had a career spanning frontline medical primary care over decades and delivering large scale access projects into challenging healthcare spaces like urgent care, health in justice and also to the latest models of future tech- such as virtual wards/connected communities and supporting citizens to live at home via ‘smart tech’ enabled cities. She has a proven track record in delivering innovative pilots into practical commercial offerings for the NHS, as part of the teams she has worked with. She currently works at Content Guru which is a UK Headquartered – global cloud communications software business, co-founded by the Taylor brothers in the early 90s, Content Guru is part of the Redwood Technology group. It provides national infrastructure cloud resilience to multiple industry sectors - including blue light mission critical services for the NHS. Her latest role is working as their Medical Director and also the Clinical Safety officer for their newer Generative Ai applications and other emerging technologies. In this episode of the Women in Health Tech Show, I speak to Professor Joann Rhodes, Chief Executive of HIRANI. We discuss Joann's career trajectory from a cellular pharmacologist to leading health research and innovation in Northern Ireland. Highlights include her work in developing immunomodulation therapies, brokering major industry-academic partnerships, and her pivotal role in setting up the 1.3 billion neurodegeneration R&D labs at the Francis Crick Institute. Joann also shares insights into moving to Northern Ireland pre-pandemic, the importance of building strong networks, and her drive to make a significant impact on healthcare ecosystems. Professor Joann Rhodes is Chief Executive of HIRANI, driving collaborative health research and innovation across Northern Ireland from lab to clinic to home. A former cellular pharmacologist at Imperial College, she helped develop immunomodulation therapies for COPD and clinical biomarker rationales for multiple novel therapeutics. Since 2011 she’s brokered major industry–academic partnerships, including the £16M US–UK Pfizer Rare Diseases Consortium, and served as Chief of Staff at Merck UK R&D (2018–2020) to launch the £1.3B neurodegeneration R&D labs at the Francis Crick Institute. Dr. Jessica Morley is a postdoctoral researcher at the Digital Ethics Center, Yale University. Prior to moving to the US, she completed her BA, MSc, and PhD at the University of Oxford and was the director of policy research for the Oxford Bennett Institute for Applied Data Science. In her previous, non-academic life, Jess worked for the UK Department of Health and Social Care and NHSX on digital, data, and technology policy. Her research focuses on how to ensure the secondary uses of health data are technically feasible, socially acceptable, ethically justifiable, and legally compliant.
