Join us as we share Marta’s incredibly touching story of her family’s escape from communist Czechoslovakia when she was 8 years old.Driving to a refugee camp in Yugoslavia, after pretending they were going on a one-week holiday, with no chance to say a proper goodbye to family or friends. The trip to the border was fraught with the real risk of being arrested and interrogated.After arriving in Sydney three months later, they were immediately placed on a bus and resettled in Adelaide.This story is one of our favourites, with poignant story telling from Marta. It's cold, dark, windy and wet in Melbourne and our Gen Y Darsh is suffering from the SADs. In this episode we tackle Seasonal Affective Disorder or the winter blues and find out how each of our hosts are coping. The exact causes of SAD are not fully understood, but it is believed to be related to the reduced level of sunshine, disrupting the body's internal clock (circadian rhythm). From sleeping more, to craving carb loaded food and to not wanting to go out and socialise, the SADs can affect us all in many different ways.
