Description

We are Madelinetosh, and we love everything there is to do with hand-dyed yarn. In 2022, we released MT Collection No. 2, a pattern collection inspired by our favorite things. Our resident yarn whisperer, Sunne Meyer, is sitting down to talk about bringing it to life, starting with interviews with a few of our MT Collection No. 2 designers, which includes a star roster of international talent: Melanie Berg, Tamy Gore, Maysa Tomikawa, GregoryStitch, Lisa Renner, and Mona Zillah. We couldn't be more thrilled about launching our first-ever podcast.

Welcome to our first podcast, Tosh Talks. Tosh Talks features interviews of our MT Collection No. 2 designers with our resident yarn whisperer, Sunne Meyer. In our fourth episode, Sunne talks with Lisa Renner of Pure Knit and Purl. Lisa designed the lofty and fitted Wine Bar pullover, which uses two luxurious strands of Madelinetosh Impression held together. At once fitted and cozy, the Wine Bar is worked seamlessly from the top down. Lisa herself is a force to be reckoned with - a former physiotherapist and dancer, her understanding of how her garments are designed for moving with the human body is unparalleled.
Welcome to our first podcast, Tosh Talks. Tosh Talks features interviews of our MT Collection No. 2 designers with our resident yarn whisperer, Sunne Meyer. In our third episode, Sunne talks with the amazingly talented Maysa Tomikawa about her design, Mountaineer. The voluminous Mountaineer shawl had us at first glance. Viewed vertically, it’s a landscape of mountain peaks, but wrapped around shoulders or a neck, this intarsia project is a geometric mystery of color and shape. We’re equally crazy about its creator. Maysa is a queer, Japanese-Brazilian designer living in Tokyo, a cancer survivor and self-avowed feminist. Her work has an unmistakable look—oversized, with clean interesting lines, and surprising color combinations. She knits in the Portuguese style, which was taught to her by her grandmother.
Welcome to our first podcast, Tosh Talks. Tosh Talks features interviews of our MT Collection No. 2 designers with our resident yarn whisperer, Sunne Meyer. This is our second conversation about the collection, and today we’re talking about the dramatic Pecan Bourbon Cape by Thomas Gregory Hamilton, who designs under the label GregoryStitch. Thomas comes to knitwear design from the dance world, where the art is movement. He started crocheting after the death of his mother as a means of therapy to cope with the loss and decided to reinvent himself as a crochet designer. He has debuted a collection at New York Fashion Week, designed for Vogue Knitting Live, and is the designer behind the breathtaking Peacock Gown. I think you’ll enjoy our conversation with the remarkable Thomas Gregory Hamilton of GregoryStitch.
Welcome to our first podcast, Tosh Talks. Tosh Talks features interviews of our MT Collection No. 2 designers with our resident yarn whisperer, Sunne Meyer. We’re starting with the one-and-only Melanie Berg. Melanie may be the foremost shawl designer working today. She is known for mixing texture and color into wearable modern designs that are both playful and beautiful—and in this case more reflective. She designs to surprise—from mingling stripes with lace, to choosing unexpected color combinations. Melanie loves to collaborate with other creatives around the world, and her patterns have been published by yarn companies and knitting magazines globally. Her design for MT Collection No. 2 is called Up All Night.
