Description
Hi, I'm Christine, and this is my story. Unmuzzling myself through the medium of podcasting, I'll be sharing some stories and moments in my life that I have never shared with another soul before. Through the years of trauma, near death escapes, substance abuse, domestic violence, suicide attempts, the lot. When it's written down like that it sounds like a f*cking horror story.
But the ending is not bleak! My life went through a 180 transformation. Meditation, journaling, mindfulness. It's never too late to change your path. Join me in rediscovering life at 67.

Well. That is a wrap, folks. A wrap on the initial Unmuzzled at 67 project! My story has been told, my soul has been bared. And my podcasting therapy is now over.
I've shared with you all, some of the most intimate details of my life. Some stories that not another living soul had heard. Details that I no longer have any emotional attachment to, and some that I still find deeply embarrassing and traumatising. So my self-development journey hasn't stopped! But my life story and the journaling of my coping mechanisms have come to an end podcasting-wise.
I have so many people to thank. But in general, I want to thank everyone who's listened and taken precious time out of their day to tune in and support every single week.
This podcast has been a practice of reflection and understanding of myself. Getting things off my chest, and letting my story free into the world.
There is much, much more to come from me. With two different series following this conclusion!
Unmuzzled Conversations! And... Unmuzzled at 67 - The Next Chapter!
So stay tuned, keep following the podcast, and tune in to the new series when they are available.
Thank you all very much, it's been a pleasure to begin my podcasting journey! x

Well, here it is! Nearing the end of the Unmuzzled at 67 series. I'm not ready to leave the building!
But I'm not finished yet. There's one more episode of this season in the pipeline. And I'll be starting two new series after this. Very exciting!
This episode is a full recap of everything we've spoken about. The best, hard-hitting moments of my life. Why I lived with so much baggage for so long. And how I managed to overcome these things over time.

ADHD is a term thrown around a lot as of late. With more being known about the issue, I thought it useful to discuss the problems I've had with my symptoms for my entire life.
I’ve had a tough battle with ADHD. Never paying too much attention to it. Until I done some research! And realised that I suffered many of the same symptoms. I’ve never been diagnosed. But now, I don’t think a diagnosis will benefit me. But I think it’s important to discuss what I do, to calm the symptoms, and keep me on the path of self improvement.

A deep yet brief dive into the idea and philosophy of the inner child. Your needs, triggers, and past experiences that your inner child went through. A lot of these things, may they be unmet needs, transform into trauma points in your future. They make you believe certain things about yourself. Develop negative affirmations. A broken inner child can lead to a self-confidence, and self-love rating of 0.
So here's why I work, every day, on my inner child. It's not easy. And it's not comfortable. But it is rewarding, and some of the most important self-improvement that I do.

Therapy is the conventional way of helping get a grip of yourself. But it's fucking expensive! I did have a brief fling with therapy. And it helped me uncover, and understand the initial traumas I faced when I was younger, but with the help of my own research and specific books, I turned away from therapy. It's pricey and isn't available to everyone. A psychiatrist has a waiting list that goes on for months and months.
Instead, I focus on daily habits I've developed, that keep me aware of myself and my progress.

At a slightly different pace in this episode, we will cover some books that were pivotal to my reinvention. To calm me down. To understand myself. I say "some" because this episode could have been hours and hours long if we were to cover every influential book I've read during this period of my life. But here's the list of the books we cover in this week's episode. I implore you to pick some of them up but be warned, you might not be able to put them back down until you're finished!
Books spoke about in this episode:
How to stop worrying and start living by Dale Carnegie
Can’t hurt me and Never finished by David Goggins
Ego is the enemy by Ryan Holiday
10% happier by Dan Harris
Self care for the real world by Nadia and Katie Narain
Fighting for the Foreign Legion by Alex Lochrie
Rogue heroes- the history of the SAS by Ben Macintyre
Holy terror Andy Warhol close up by Bob Colacello
Transformer the complete Lou Reed story by Victor Bockris

Some key take aways on how self confidence allows you to act in the world. We build off of my tips of self awareness, meditation, and creating a ruthless moral inventory of yourself. These things aren't easy, but they are absolutely crucial in turning your life around. Live a life you deserve, become unmuzzled.

So, being more self-aware, understanding your trigger points. Analysing your past behaviours, and understanding why you acted out, got angry, withdrew inward, and so on. All great. All useful, and important. And very often the first step in becoming a rehabilitated bam.
But how do we put these things into practice? Well, it's totally personal. But for me, with the help of meditation. I can start to understand my true trigger points. And snip things in the bud before they grow arms and legs. Or before I start to slip into old ways of emotional response. These methods of spotting trigger points, allow us a moment of breath. They become a buffer to knee jerk reactions. Spontaneous decisions that we will regret later. And we are all, a work in progress. So be patient with yourself! Don't develop more bad habits in the pursuit of a calm mind.

So! Here we are! The final, and most important season of Unmuzzled at 67. The unravelling. I've told you all about my life, my past and present experiences. The trauma I've lived through, and the dangerous situations I've scraped out of by the skin of my teeth. But all of that, all of these experiences have brought me to where I am now. Telling, and explaining how I unlearned the bad habits that kept taking me to dangerous places, and lonely depths.

Ten years before the millennium, how was the culture in Glasgow? What was happening in the city centre, with the pubs clubs and restaurants. And how did we enjoy ourselves back in the 90s? For some that may seem like a million years ago, being young and going to the hip places to be like the Garage. And for others, it may feel like a blip, with busy family life and work.
Either way, we hope you enjoy this week's episode. So settle in, get a cuppa and listen to us gab away!

In this weeks episode, Christine has compiled stories from the history of Rangers Football Club. Stuart and Tommy have been going to the games their entire life, and have seen the comings and goings of many teams and managers. But specifically, in this week's episode we're focusing on the 90s at Glasgow Rangers. The Dick Advocaat years. From domestic success, to European runs.
As everything football related in Glasgow, 50% of you will love this episode, and 50% of you will despise it. But we thought it that we'd pay homage to a club that we have supported all our lives.

We've all had our fair share of embarrassing moments while dating and making a fool of ourselves, or having the fool taken out of us. Whichever way it is! Settle in, get the kettle on, and we will talk about our dating experiences. From Christine getting a Cartier band - oooooh - to Stuart being told that he's too old - aaawww - This is a funny episode, and we hope you enjoy!

Perhaps not the theatre that you'd think of today. With it's ballet, and monologues, and Shakespearean dialogue. But instead, a wee bit of Billy Connelly, or cabaret singing. We used to go to the theatre for all sorts. Shite comedians, brilliant live bands, or performances from folk who were on the up-and-up such as Jimmi Hendrix or the Beatles.
Tommy walks us through his memory of who he loved to watch growing up, as well as Christine and Stewart's impression on what the culture was like at the time. And how Glasgow could be a pretty rough crowd!

It's the end of an old year, let's ring in the new! We're talking traditions, drinking habits, parties and celebrations. New Year used to have many old traditions that seem to have passed by the way-side. A lot of them superstitious, but all based around family, friendship and community.
From Christine, Stuart and Tommy, we want to thank you for watching and or listening to our podcast. And we hope you all have a terrific start to the new year, and much luck to you and yours.

Merry Christmas one and all! And welcome, to a very festive episode of the Unmuzzled Conversations podcast! Christine, Stewart and Tommy speak about their holidays from the past. The tradition of seeing friends and family, gift giving and Christmas dinner. Christmas was different back in the day, but not in a good or bad way. Just different!

A controversial idea! Potentially an unpopular opinion! But it's all in jest, it's all just a joke. Christine and Stewart speak to eachother about annoying experiences that they've had with "old" folk, seeing that they are still so "young"... Before getting into the idea of The Cull.
So settle in, get the biscuits out, and a cup of tea on. And listen to us have a gab!

Let's discuss our working careers. Some of the dodgies that went on behind the doors of the kitchen. The arguments about paying the tab at the end of a work night out. Inappropriate jokes and comments, that sent folk flying. We've all worked different careers, but many of the stories all ring the same - Works boring if you can't have a wee bitta mischief.
Settle in, stroll down memory lane, and listen to us gab away about Glasgow.

Well, here we are! The end of another season... one to go. I look back up my experiences this time around recording and writing the second season of the podcast. This one had a bit of everything. Bad behaviour, becoming a mother, indecent proposals, decent proposals, and a fucking shootout. Who thought it would turn out like this, eh? Overall, the second season was a much smoother experience for me. Already having season 1 under my belt, I found it easier to open up in front of the camera... except the episode about money handling. I'm still embarrassed about that, and probably will be for a longer time yet.
Season 3 will be the final season of the podcast, where we talk about my recover. Really taking my meditation and breathing practices seriously, and discovering the real benefit that it has left with me with. I still consistently meditate. And read. And discover new ways I can be a kinder, more understanding person. A better friend, a better mother, and of course... a better podcaster!
