Are you your own worst critic? Are you especially tough on yourself as you face grief, health issues, relationship struggles, parenthood, or other challenges? If so, this episode is for you. Jenn is joined by Breast Cancer Recovery Strategist and Mentor Dee Manuel Cloud to talk about the work Dee did to transform her life after her second breast cancer diagnosis. It was a wake up call that led her to leave an unhappy marriage, embrace her queer identity, improve her health, reduce stress, and help other breast cancer survivors protect their peace through her Gracefully Protecting Self (GPS) Initiative.   In just this one podcast episode, Dee provides 3 key ingredients for transformation and so much encouragement to treat ourselves with kindness, compassion, and grace. She reminds us that things will not change in the same environment that broke us and gives the encouragement we need to peel back the layers we have covered ourselves in to shield the true, vulnerable parts of yourself at the center. No matter what challenges you are faced with right now, this interview will leave you ready to face them head on.   Learn more about Dee and her work at https://www.deemanuelcloud.com/ and follow her on all social media platforms @iamdeemanuelcloud - Sign up for one of Jenn’s 20-minute complimentary Joy Jumpstart Calls to take a pause, breathe, and release tension holding you back from joy and ease: https://calendly.com/revjenncormier/joy-jump-start - Learn more about the Grace Collective at gracecollective.us - Get your free guidebook at www.walkthroughgriefwithgrace.com - Join the Grief and Grace private Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/176177430380895/   - Music by Daniel Plane: www.reelcello.com
Rest. Create Space. Remember. Three simple steps for any stage of grief or life transitions to help you decompress, sit with powerful emotions, and excavate gems of truth and wisdom that may transform into something beautiful. Befriending grief and realizing the power of authenticity and vulnerability have helped Educator and host of the Shift Sisters podcast, Sandra Sa, share the story of her grief after her sister’s death through poems, paintings, podcast episodes, and more. The soft, dedicated containers for grief and healing that she has been a part of for the past few years have allowed her to tend to her grief as an extension of herself and honor the struggles of not just grief, but all of lifes transitions - taking on new titles, becoming a parent, getting married or divorced, starting a new job, and so much more. By slowing down and sitting with the feelings around these shifts, we can allow ourselves to heal, share, and empower others as Sandra has done so well.   Listen to the Shift Sisters Podcast at https://shiftsisterspodcast.com/ - Listen to Sandra’s poem about her sister in Episode 68: Creativity: How We Rise from the Ashes of Loss Community Roundtable - Sign up for one of Jenn’s 20-minute complimentary Joy Jumpstart Calls to take a pause, breathe, and release tension holding you back from joy and ease: https://calendly.com/revjenncormier/joy-jump-start - Learn more about the Grace Collective at gracecollective.us - Get your free guidebook at www.walkthroughgriefwithgrace.com - Join the Grief and Grace private Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/176177430380895/ - Music by Daniel Plane: www.reelcello.com Podcast production by Caitlin Epstein

Sometimes our soulmates are our friends. The people that we hand select to go through life with. In this episode, we honor that bond and the deep grief that comes with losing a friend. Jenn is joined by Certified Grief Educator and Author Hannah Rumsey, whose work honors her friend Lauren, who passed in 2015. Hannah and Lauren had a supernova of a friendship that formed at summer camp and continued despite long distances. Since Lauren’s death, Hannah has created a one-woman show titled “42 Days of Summer,” the podcast Friends Missing Friends, and her upcoming memoir. Hannah truly honors the disenfranchised grief of friend loss and shares how we can alchemize our grief into works of art. The grieving process and the creative process can both be incredibly daunting, but Hannah shares how we can break them down into smaller, more manageable parts and come out the other side a bit more healed.   Connect with Hannah and listen to her podcast at friendsmissingfriends.com, @friendsmissingfriends on Instagram, or through email at friendsmissingfriends@gmail.com - Learn more about the Grace Collective at gracecollective.us Use the promo code PODCAST for one free month of membership - Get your free guidebook at www.walkthroughgriefwithgrace.com - Join the Grief and Grace private Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/176177430380895/ - Have virtual tea with Jenn! “Love Never Fails”, even when the target of that love has died. This is the motto and mission that has motivated and bolstered Sarah Mayfield since the sudden and unexpected death of her 1.5 year old son, Elliot, seven years ago. Sarah is a Compassionate Bereavemet Care Certified Provider who has used her own grief to help others to lessen their trauma while honoring and carrying grief, taking what they feel inwardly and expressing it outwardly through ritual, and acknowledging that while grief doesn’t necessarily get easier, it does shift and move in different ways.  She shares many of the beautiful ways that she and her family honor Elliot in their home and in their community, including her book This Sure Thing, which encourages youth like her other son, Bradley, to live the love they have for their person no longer here. Listen for clear, powerful tips for speaking with young people about death, rituals you can incorporate in your life to honor loved ones who have died, and how to simply be there for people who have experienced a traumatic loss.   Learn more about Sarah’s work and purchase her book One Sure Thing at https://www.livethatlove.com/ - Learn more about the Grace Collective at gracecollective.us Use the promo code PODCAST for one free month of membership - Get your free guidebook at www.walkthroughgriefwithgrace.com - Join the Grief and Grace private Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/176177430380895/ - Have virtual tea with Jenn! In the Spring of 2021, my producer, Caitlin, and I began planning the launch of this podcast. At the same time, her aunt was diagnosed with bile duct cancer. For the past four years, we have produced dozens of episodes as Caitlin’s aunt Diane fought to make it to an important milestone: her younger son’s high school graduation. On May 23rd, 2025, Diane passed away 12 hours after graduation, and for the first time ever, Caitlin agreed to step out from behind the curtain and sit behind the mic herself to share her family’s story. It is a story of sacrifice, relentlessness, and deep love - all things that Diane demonstrated with so much fight and stubbornness in her final years. Caitlin shares how we can show up for each other during tough times, the ways her aunt inspires her work and future goals, and the importance of family - the family we’re related to and the family we choose. Caitlin and Jenn also announce the end of the podcast this November and how they plan to honor and memorialize a show that has opened up so many important conversations around grief.    Learn more about the Grace Collective at gracecollective.us Use the promo code PODCAST for one free month of membership - Get your free guidebook at www.walkthroughgriefwithgrace.com - Join the Grief and Grace private Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/176177430380895/ - Have virtual tea with Jenn! “Laughter is the best medicine” may seem like just a common cliche, but humor and levity can be powerful tools when it comes to caring for aging family members. In this episode, Jenn is joined by Howard Miller, the author of Burdens and Blessings, to discuss the lessons he learned while caring for his parents who lived into their nineties. Howard shares so many lovely examples of humor found through grief and challenging times, discusses navigating sibling relationships while caregiving, and key tips for determining what we and our loved ones want for their care as they grow old or face health issues. One of the key messages of this episodes is bringing empathy to caregiving as we realize the vast loss our parents are experiencing - the loss of people, physical and mental capabilities, and more. By putting ourselves in their shoes and giving them as much agency as possible, we can help our parents and ourselves find more joy and comfort in their later years. In mythology, the phoenix is a bird that rises from the ashes in a blaze of fire. In the grieving process, it is important to allow for the period of dormancy or rest before we burst forward in transformation. Writer, Actor, and Educator Angela Apodaca embodies this cycle and journey so beautifully and joins Jenn on the podcast to share her story of how her grief has led her to immense creative expression. Angela speaks to the transition from the hardness of fresh grief to softening into those emotions through connection and creativity, tips for letting go of perfectionism, and the power of putting ourselves into creative spaces for healing and inspiration. Angela and Jenn both push listeners to courage stack: to take one brave baby step at a time until you have achieved your goals. After loss we get to choose. We can choose to implode, wither, and let the grief drag us down. Or we can choose to heal, create, honor what we have lost, and live life more fully. Tech wizard and author Diandra Ford-Wing joins Jenn to share how after the loss of her aunt, her mother weakened and lost hope before dying just a few months later. This experience combined with only receiving 3 days off of work after her mom’s death led Diandra to quit her job, drop everything, and travel the world with her husband as part of a journey to properly mourn and heal. She tells the powerful story of writing her book Red Bird along with her mom in the months leading up to her death and how that process truly honors the women she lost and transformed her along the way. Choosing to live life to the fullest has truly brought her so much beauty and opportunity. We’re probably all familiar with the more conventional ways of honoring a loved one’s remains after they die: burial and cremation. Grief counselor and artist Ian McCartor, however, has created a new beautiful way of honoring those who have passed through art. He is the President and Executive Director of the Ash Rose Foundation, an organization that walks those who have lost a loved one through an immersive 30 day grief journey to heal and use memories of that person as inspiration for a custom ash portrait.  This stunning medium of art acts as a medium of reflection and a bridge to the person they have lost. Clients of the Ash Rose Foundation gain not just this unique artwork, but also journaling prompts, counseling resources, and community. It is a truly beautiful way to honor the essence of the person who has passed through art.
