The Walkabout health podcast is a series of thought experiments where co-hosts Dr troy & Tyler - either together or with the addition of a guest - unpack and discuss ideas around all things related to the nature of lifestyle health. In our conversations we hope to create interest, further knowledge and discussion around all aspects of health, especially as they relate to lifestyle and culture, diet and physical activity, pain, social and emotional well-being; and sleep, rest and recovery.

Episode 1. Strength based approaches- is being overly positive a problem?

A strength-based approach to health is predicated on the basis of self-determination and a focus on what is positive when it comes to our health and its associated outcomes. In it we attempt to define and discuss strength-based approaches including it’s perceived positives and negatives.We talk about the Pollyanna principle in health and behaviour, including what it is and if it serves us often and always. Then we jump into practical optimism and how we can try to visualise multiple angles to a narrative and what might best work with it as an approach, including being grateful.
