Description

Music, sports, life, current events, pop culture, entertainment. Everything. The opinions are my own. I tell it like I see it. If you agree, or if you disagree, I welcome your feedback and commentary. Eventually, may start adding episodes of the radio show, Wes's Musical Meltdown, to the playlist. Or maybe just some of the voice breaks.

On this episode, Nixie and I talk about my first experience at a Pride festival here in Mankato. We talk about the festival, the Queeraoke night, and much more. We also delve into the shooting of Charlie Kirk as well as other shootings of late and discuss the vile responses of the far left, as well as the retaliations of the far right and how it won't end well for America. Listen, and give your feedback.
On this episode, I expand on a Facebook post I'd made earlier this week, detailing some of the areas where I agree with what Trump's doing, and on areas where I don't. I also pose a few questions. We also discuss my views on legalizing drugs and prostitution...Do both, yes. On this episode, we discuss the new Linkin Park CD From Zero, which I love. We also talk about Bluesky, both from an accessibility standpoint and from a content standpoint. Finally, I get into the controversy surrounding picture descriptions on social media for the blind and visually impaired. Sighted friends, give it a listen as I definitely want your feedback on the final segment. Want to reach out? Jessica and I talk about some recent negative experiences with Valley Metro Paratransit here in the East Valley. We vent, offer anecdotes, try to think of solutions, and explain how this affects our working life and our work-life balance. This isn’t meant to be a woe-is-us thing, just getting our experiences out there after some frustrating recent events. Frustrating enough that it’s actually affecting my enjoyment of my new job.
The title pretty much sums it up. Continuing the trend of audio mow during the month of June. Yeah, I know I missed a couple days, but I will fix that. We’ll play catch-up at some point. We test the accessibility of the Amazon lockers, which many of my blind and visually impaired friends have asked me about since we have them at the new apartment. We also do a tasting of Woodford reserve with 7-Up. You also get about an hour and 25 minutes of Jessica and I bantering back-and-forth about everything from alcohol to Internet radio to life in general. The conversation took a lot of twists and turns. Definitely not for the easily offended as I always say on my podcast.
Just a quick update on life. Well, maybe not so quick. A lot has happened since I last updated this podcast. You thought I’d forgotten. No. I’m back. Your friendly neighborhood travel agent, DJ, and major pain in the ass is back to entertain, inform, and possibly offend you. There is offensive language in this podcast. If you don’t like that, that’s on you. Enjoy. I’ve joined by Jessica for quite a bit of the podcast. This is Raul audio. Did this on the iPhone. Didn’t really sit down and edit it or refine it, so I hope you enjoy. Future episodes might have a little more editing and refinement.
In this episode, I talk about the Drecho that hit Iowa last Monday, August 10. Alicia joins me for about half the podcast to talk about the way the community here in Cedar Rapids and elsewhere around Iowa has come together during this crisis. it's a crazy time. If you're interested in finding ways to help, search Cedar Rapids Derecho 2020 on Google, Bing, or Facebook. Visit http://crfirst.org for ways to potentially give. Want to help support the podcast? An interview with author Jo Elizabeth Pinto, writer of “Bright Side of Darkness” and “Daddy Won’t Let Mom Drive The Car”. You can learn more about the author at brightsideauthor.com. Also, added a few old voice mails I realized I never published. Hey, maybe I’ll do more with this thing this year.
Alicia and I discuss our first meal mmade in the Instant Pot pressure cooker. We discuss what went well, what didn’t go well, and some potential accessible issues we as blind users encountered. This will not be the last Instant Pot meal, or Podcast. Chili gets made tomorrow, and we may eventually do an audio or Facebook Live demo as we use the device. We welcome your questions and comments at wesderby@icloud.com.
On this episode, I explain how, as a blind person, to set up the instant pot smart Wi-Fi model. I discuss the pressure test, the accessories that came with the pot, and much more. I also promote the radio show, my travel business, and give a couple of tips with regard to this whole corona virus thing.
On this episode, as it's been a while since I've given a life update, I give a brief one. There are some things I can't talk about yet, but I skirt around them. We also discuss last night's/this morning's happenings involving a fire in the building. I also review a new breakfast sandwich from McDonald's. Well, a new take on a classic favorite. I'm joined by Nixie for the fire segment.
In this episode, I give my thoughts in a concise manner on the outcome of the 2024 presidential election, explain from my perspective where Democrats lost the plot and why Trump won, and point out that it won't be as bad as one side thinks it will, or as great as the other side believes. Listen, and I hope you come away feeling a little better about the election. Comments are always welcome, and may be shared on future podcasts. Just a quick podcast to get me back into the swing of things. In this episode, I talk a little about both major party candidates as well as third-party options. I also chastise members of both parties, though primary Democrats, for their ridiculous stance on third party voting. We also talk a little about my radio career, books, and the like. Next episode will be longer. Also, check out the new intro and outro.
For a while, people have asked me to do a demo of the Instant Pot and how I use it as a blind person. this isn’t the greatest, but is an attempt to do so. Enjoy!
Slayer brought their current tour, dubbed “the final campaign“ to Columbus Ohio on November 12. They along with Primus, ministry, and Philip H Anselmo and the illegals played nationwide arena, and blew the roof off the venue! Enjoy my thoughts, as well as a little bit of live material from the show.
A quick preview of the new CW TV series in the dark. Also, I talk about the Mötley Crüe movie the dirt.
