Send us a Text Message.Today the boys (Martin & Patrick) have professional footballer Steve Wignall as a guest and he openly discusses his professional football career. He also touches upon his recent struggle with memory loss and the possibility of having CTE (Chronic traumatic encephalopathy). CTE is a brain condition thought to be linked to repeated head injuries and blows to the head. It slowly gets worse over time and leads to dementia, but with the right help and support can manage the symptoms.  Steven Leslie Wignall (born 17 September 1954) is an English former professional football manager and player. He stayed as manager until he resigned in January 1999, believing he had taken the club as far as he could. My Wish

Send us a Text Message. My Wish CharityIn today's episode, Martin and Patrick return to their second home at the West Suffolk Hospital to visit the offices of My Wish Charity and meet up with Sue Smith (Head of fundraising) and her colleague Tanya Fifield (Fundraising Officer). The charity was entered on the Central Register of Charities on the 15th of September 1995. It constituted 91 individual funds and was managed ad ad-hoc by the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust’s Finance department.A part-time fundraising manager was employed in May 2010 to help the Trust manage its fundraising income and to work with the local community on increasing the number of donations. The response from the community was fantastic, so much so that in November 2011 a part-time fundraising assistant joined the fundraising team for 2 days per week.In May 2016 the decision was made to rebrand the charity launching under the new name of My WiSH Charity. This decision has seen the charity go from strength to strength thanks to the amazing community and staff all wanting to support their local hospital. My WiSH Charity is the local NHS Charity. They are not here to replace the NHS but to enhance the wonderful care patients receive at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust includes West Suffolk Hospital, Newmarket Community Hospital, and the community services they both provide. Its care is second to none, however, its budget is not limitless. With public help, they can support all their services enabling their wonderful staff to go that extra mile.https://mywishcharity.co.uk/#HeartTransplant#EbsteinsAnomaly#RareCondition#HealthJourney#LifeChangingDiagnosis#MentalHealth#Vulnerability#SelfCompassion#PostTraumaticGrowth#MedicalMiracle#BBCSports#Inspiration#Cardiology#Surgery#Podcast#Healthcare#HeartHealth#MedicalBreakthrough#EmotionalJourney#SupportSystem#HealthcareHeroes#PatientStories#CardiologyCare#MedicalJourney#LifeLessons#MentalWellness#HealthAwareness#InspirationalTalk#LivingWithIllness#RareDiseaseAwareness#SharingIsCaring#MedicalSupport#BBCReporter#HeartDisease#PodcastInterview#HealthTalk#Empowerment#Wellbeing#HealthPodcast#ChronicIllness#joepasquale#mywishcharity#comedy#funny#jokeCheck out our new website at www.whostomanddick.comCheck out our new website at www.whostomanddick.com

Easter Statins

Send us a Text Message.Martin & Patrick discuss; It's Easter (Good Friday) and chocolate is in the air (or is it) as we buy Easter Eggs across the world, how do you eat your "Cadbury's Cream Eggs" (other brands are available). It's a hard time of the year for Patrick as his Easter Egg count has come down considerably since discovering his Heart Disease some 15 years ago.The boys discuss recent news and include the Princess of Wales in their brief chat.\\Today's headline subject for discussion is "Statins. What do we know about these drugs, who should be taking them, and for what? Do they cause many side effects as many suggest and is memory loss one of those side effects?Statins block an enzyme the liver needs to make cholesterol. This causes the liver to remove cholesterol from the blood. While statins are highly effective and safe for most people, they have been linked to muscle pain, digestive problems, and mental fuzziness in some people. It is said, that although there are some potential side effects long-term for statins, in most cases, if your doctor has identified you as having high cholesterol and needing a statin, the benefits greatly outweigh the risks. It's important to know that stopping statins cold turkey, or even gradually, can cause serious health problems and you should talk to your doctor before doing so. We review some questions from our listeners and try and assist where we can remember to consult your doctor.Martin's Joke of the week returns, it's short, it's sweet but is it funny?#HeartTransplant#EbsteinsAnomaly#RareCondition#HealthJourney#LifeChangingDiagnosis#MentalHealth#Vulnerability#SelfCompassion#PostTraumaticGrowth#MedicalMiracle#BBCSports#Inspiration#Cardiology#Surgery#Podcast#Healthcare#HeartHealth#MedicalBreakthrough#EmotionalJourney#SupportSystem#HealthcareHeroes#PatientStories#CardiologyCare#MedicalJourney#LifeLessons#MentalWellness#HealthAwareness#InspirationalTalk#LivingWithIllness#RareDiseaseAwareness#SharingIsCaring#MedicalSupport#BBCReporter#HeartDisease#PodcastInterview#HealthTalk#Empowerment#Wellbeing#HealthPodcast#ChronicIllness#joepasqualeCheck out our new website at www.whostomanddick.Check out our new website at www.whostomanddick.com
