What's up people! It's Kevin and Anthony again! The last time we were here, we talked to you about our journey leading up to YCombinator. This time, we're taking you through our YC journey - everything from nervously practicing for the interviews to what it was like to be interviewed by YC to getting THE call while grocery shopping at a Japanese supermarket. A HUGE shoutout to batchmates and mentors for making YC so special 🤩 We also talk about the two products we've worked on along the way before Typedream (a Robinhood for Indonesia and Cotter, a passwordless authentication tool) and the lessons that we learned. Ever used ChatGPT to generate content ideas but ended up getting ones that are pretty meh? Been there, done that. I've tried many different ways of optimizing the outputs from ChatGPT but one that I found to work best for me is actually pretty simple: to talk to ChatGPT as if I was doing a podcast, in a human-to-human way. In this episode, I'll share with you how I asked ChatGPT to create different personas and tailor questions for those specific personas to generate more meaningful, relevant content ideas. Hey friends! Kevin and Anthony here. We want to take you on a little trip down memory lane and reflect on our journey before Typedream. We share with you the story of us trying to start a crypto exchange right out of college, the lessons we learned from jumping on trends to find a product idea, how we ended up in YCombinator, and how to fail fast, cheap, and forward. Getting users to jump on a call to test your products isn't always so straightforward. Just like there are plenty of pick up lines out there (yes, pick up lines), there are tons of waitlists and beta access calls. So how do you stand out? In this episode, I talk about what drives potential users to do user interviews and provide you with quality feedback and how we can motivate them. I bring the example of how we plan to entice Instagram and TikTok content creators to try out Typedream's link in bio product, and dissect everything from crafting a hook to communicating what's in it for them. Hey, it’s Kevin! Guess it's my turn! So, I want to discuss the recent tagline change of our no-code website builder platform, Typedream. We started off by branding ourselves to be “as pretty as Webflow” and while that might have a nice ring to it, it eventually led us to stray further away from our initial goal and to overpromise. We learned some pretty important lessons that I think would be helpful whether you're a product guy in a big team or an indie hacker. Albert here. In this episode, I talk about my experience in optimizing engineering productivity for startups. I share some of the things that worked for me like keeping things simple, breaking down complex tasks, and using feature flags. If you're a startup founder or developer, I hope this is helpful! As a product designer, you build products. But should you also get involved in talking to users yourself? Putri shares her thoughts on why it is absolutely crucial for product designers to actually take the time to do interviews themselves even if there is another team whose job is to do that. She reflects on her experiences of creating a link in bio product for Typedream and how directly speaking to users helps her make better product decisions and ultimately stay connected to who the product is serving. Why would someone spend $200 dollars on a shoe? In this pilot episode of Young, Scrappy, and Hungry, Michelle discusses the power of storytelling and how some of the biggest brands we know are so good at selling dreams. She explains how building not only a great product but also one that people can relate to enables companies to stand out among the crowd.
