In this episode, I discuss a moment I had with my Heal Your Story Facebook Discussion Group about my own struggle with being vulnerable over the last 30 days. I was having trouble showing up for the group in the way I wanted because I had some medical issues. I decided to just be vulnerable in the group and tell them what was going on.  I go on to talk about the many benefits of being vulnerable and why it is so hard for us to do because it almost gives us this sense of not being perfect when we show up with the courage to be vulnerable.  If you can be vulnerable, it means that you accept yourself and don’t feel the need to hide yourself from everyone else. This is a client story of how childhood trauma led to a life of perfectionism, people-pleasing, codependency and what started to come up more and more...anger.  Give a listen to how our trauma responses can serve us as protection and control early in life but as we move into adulthood, they become the things that hold us back from healing, connection to ourselves and connection to others. These trauma responses often lead to trapped emotions or trapped physical pain that can't be released due to an unregulated nervous system. In this episode, I discuss four of the many types of trauma. Emotional trauma can cause a sense of hopelessness, edginess,  anxiety, an inability to sleep or to focus, and may lead to a pattern of self-neglect.  Many of us experience symptoms of trauma but have no specific traumatic event to connect these feelings of anxiety or depression, which often causes feelings of confusion or guilt.  You may find yourself thinking others are worse off or have been through something more injurious than you.  You may even think you don’t have a right to be unhappy.  This is simply untrue, trauma is experienced in many forms. This Heart Space Gratitude Guided Meditation allows the opening of the heart for maximum healing.
