It’s a case that has haunted Jefferson Township, New Jersey, for more than 30 years. On a snowy January night, 14-year-old Tommy Sullivan did the unthinkable: he murdered his mother in cold blood, set fire to their house, and then took his own life.Out of the flames of this horrible tragedy, investigations revealed that Tommy was, himself, a part of a Satanic Cult, sparking a nationwide hysteria now known as the “Satanic Panic”. This monumental moment in American culture led to communities nationwide enforcing draconian measures to protect their children from what they perceived to be the devil’s influence. Even the Catholic church was convinced this was a case of demonic possession. On the new podcast, THE DEVIL WITHIN, the truth of the grisly murder is finally revealed. Did Tommy act alone? Did he really commit suicide? Is his cult still in power? THE DEVIL WITHIN finally sheds light on questions left unanswered for decades...Listen Here: http://wondery.fm/TDW__MurderousMinors

The events of April 20th, 1999 shaped our nation and altered the American narrative. One of America’s deadliest school shootings took place in a small town in Colorado, leaving thirteen dead and another twenty-one severely injured. And it was all broadcast over national tv for the nation to see. The second season of  Confronting takes on one of the most prolific tragedies in American history: the Columbine High School massacre. It was a devastating example of how easily a place of learning, familiarity and peace can descend into a war zone of chaos in a moment, the teenagers present that day are now adults who bear the mental and physical scars of the carnage they lived through. Amy Over, a Columbine survivor who is still living with its aftermath and raising her own children in its shadow, confronts many of the realities, questions and myths that surround the massacre to this day. Amy, through her own experience and by speaking with survivors, investigators, classmates, reporters on the scene and other important voices, brings a first-person account of the physical, emotional and spiritual journey that comes along with confronting the worst day of her life.Listen Here: wondery.fm/CC_MurderousMinors

MAN-Slaughter tells intertwining stories about how one gunshot on a cold Wisconsin night in 1970 dramatically changed multiple lives. A bullet brutally tore through decorated law enforcement veteran LaVerne Stordock. Decades later, his niece, Dorothy Marcic, transformed herself into an amateur detective in a quest for truth and closure about that night. At the center of Dorothy’s investigation is Suzanne Brandon, LaVerne’s second wife, who confessed to the shooting -- and who Dorothy believes completely escaped justice. As it follows Dorothy’s discoveries, MAN-Slaughter explores questions around the psychology of crime, the ways women are made responsible in families, and the lasting impact of trauma.A final encounter between Suzanne and Dorothy reveals a complex connection that even that gunshot cannot shatter. Can anyone answer as to why these 2 "children" were out and about be-boppin in the wee hours of the morning in place of being at home where "children" belong at that time ? ...And when are we going to start making these parents 50% responsible for the adult actions of their "children"?

Why put prevention of domestic violence upon the children?......Parents should and need to be more involved in their children's life and not their own. People on the outside can see more than the inside. Also, keep those sorry ass pricks that kill , forever locked up........Oh, excuse me!.....Oh, its their first time........I am so sorry.Since when do we give second chances for Murder, here in America ?.... .....

Nice job, warbaby !.......Thank You !........anyone who is in prison will be your best friend if they believe you can help them get out of there. Just because they think they had seen god, does not mean he/ she will act that way, once they are released. They just dont get caught.

I am about to be the person about to be judged as a villain! Let me start by saying I Love This Show. I am disappointed there are 19 minute podcasts! Having said that, i listened to this interview and strongly having a different opinion when someone is saying it is more the parenting vs the outside factors. I'll explain my statement. killer kids has always existed. in other countries you tend to find a cultural or societal influence. their reason are different. it is rare where you get a really young child that says they just wanted to know what it was like. I'm referring to the age ranges 4 to 7. I think it is a combination of influences that contribute to the growth and mainstream of killer kids. the internet and parenting as a combination has played a huge role in this situation. parents are raising children that are losing their ability to physically socialize. in our days we played, gossip, even fought in playgrounds. everything was physical and face to face. we learned from this. social skills, forethought, empathy, regret. when people, especially children, have the ability to do something with the feeling of being faceless or anonymous they tend to act with less inhibitions, less reservations. when these kids are forced to deal in a physical environment they are lost and dont know how to react. other generations know how to meet people, date, etc. these kids do not. human interaction is no longer being learned. we who were raised during the human interaction era are clueless how to raise kids that dont do this anymore. when any kid runs into difficult social situations, their parents are the last people they feel comfortable turning to. it has also been that way. that is why sex ed existed to begin with! they are seeking advice from Facebook, Instagram, and snap chat. we have to hope they are not being catfished. they've never met alot of their "friends". we cant even begin to know the ramifications for this. most kids dont handwrite anymore, they type or blog. that is why we see some relation to home schooling with this issue. no socialization. i think this needs to be thoroughly looked at. i don't think parents are ignoring their children but they really don't know how to deal with this new society. i could go on and on. this is not meant to be an agreement, disagreement, or criticism. i am just asking this you can see this as food for thought. sorry I was long winded. thanks for the show! love it.

I don’t know if it's just me but the audio for this episode is poor. It gets lower for the majority of the episode and gets louder for a span of seconds before it reverts back.
