WHEN YOU SUCK AT MAKING SPACE FOR LIFE...sometimes you've gotta SCHEDULE it! I don't know about you, but in my former life, there were certain things that I never seemed to have time for. That workout. That phone call home or to my best friend to "catch-up". That hobby that I used to love but that's been collecting dust for ages... Because you and I? We've always been so much more than the thing that earns us a paycheck each day. And yet, our schedules don't reflect that. How we spend our time doesn't reflect that. And that sh** needs to change, doesn't it. In today's podcast episode, we're talking about 4 things you need to schedule to take back your damn life. Each of these 4 things represents a fundamental component of self-care - and no, I don't just mean physical self-care. I mean mental, emotional, social, and physical self-care. And just be scheduling these 4 things into each week of your life, you'll find that you'll start to prioritize the things that should always have been priorities anyway! For show notes, head to coachellyn.com/podcast and, of course, if you have any questions or want to connect, head on over to @coachellyn on Instagram. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/tbydl-podcast/message
For the first time in 2020, I’m interviewing on the Take Back Your Damn Life podcast and I’m grateful to be interviewing a new friend (and neighbor), Ashley Looker! Ashley has many of the monikers that so many of us achievers do - recovering perfectionist, productivity junkie, likes to be busy, etc. She gets that—like so many of us do—we get caught up in the rat race of our lives. Today she tells her story and shares her experiences of how slowing down and making joy a priority can be absolute game-changers. I’m so excited to share this interview with you, the first of 2020! Us high-achieving? We're queens of overwork, overwhelm, and over-commitment? We identify so much with our work, get so much validation from our productivity, and identify so much with our achievement that we can struggle to stop working. But what does that lead to... 10-12 hour workdays... A 7-day work week... Vacations that, well, never happen... And what does all that lead to? Burnout and lives with no room for living, having fun, and enjoying our hobbies and passions. In today's episode, you'll get 3 easy tips for working less and living more. These tips will help you create greater boundaries in your life, greater separation from your work, and more time to do all the things (other than your job) that make you YOU! It may not be easy...but it's necessary! 𝗕𝘂𝘁...𝗵𝗼𝘄'𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽? My teenage students HATE when I ask them this question...but it's so damn necessary. Cuz the burnout? The relentless work? The never stop, never quit, do do do, go go go, burn the candle at both ends shit that we ALL do? We learn that as early as our teens... And I've been rewriting shit sleep patterns and habits for the better part of a decade. But I'm having this conversation with you now because - even after re-reading the AMAZING book "Sleep Smarter" this summer - I'd forgotten about the necessity of sleep... After running my body ragged this past month, I'm being reminded that sleep is essential for... 👉🏻A strong immune system 👉🏻Repair and rejuvenation when you've run yourself ragged 👉🏻Memory and focus 👉🏻And SO much more! In today's podcast episode, I'm talking about easy sleep tips that work and that you can implement TONIGHT when your head hits the pillow! AUGUST WAS CRAP. Was it just me? I didn’t feel productive. I didn’t feel motivated. I didn’t feel focused. I didn’t feel…any of the things I usually feel as a high-achieving person. And it sucked to look back at the month of August and realize. So, as I was doing my monthly review last night, I found myself wondering - how can I bounce back? How can I find my motivation again? How can I get myself back on track? In today’s podcast, I’m going to share with you 3 tips for bouncing back from a shit month. They’re tips I’ve used in the past and tips I’m using right now to help get me back to my high-achieving self and make September ONE FOR THE BOOKS! Enjoy! "𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼-𝗱𝗼!!" . I get that impulse. That hesitation. When it feels like all this coach-y, self-help-y 💩 is just adding more to-dos into your busy AF life. But, what if I told you that burnout and boundaries can be just as much (if not MORE) about what you STOP doing as what you START? I feel like so often in the self-help and personal growth space, it can feel like a laundry list and it can feel irritating at times because we already have a lot of shit on our plate! Hell, we’re high-achievers…we ADD those things to our plate to feel that high of productivity. But my goal in this podcast episode is to give you 5 tips…5 TANGIBLE THINGS…that will free you up, give you space, and allow you time to have more YOU in your life! For show notes, head to coachellyn.com/podcast and, of course, if you have any questions or want to connect, head on over to @coachellyn on Instagram. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/tbydl-podcast/message
When I say "self-care" what do you think of? How do you feel about that? Do you grimace, thinking "oh dear God, another item on my to-do list"? Do you catch yourself thinking, "um...I don't need this! I'm already a badass"? I get it. I used to think of weight loss, pant sizes, and all that physical shit when people talked about self-care. But what if I were to tell you that there are some fundamental misconceptions not only about what self-care is, its benefits, and why you - yes, you - as a high-achiever need it in your life? Before I tell you what this episode is, let me tell you what it isn't. It isn't me listing off all the self-care activities you "should" do. I don't know you and I don't know your life. So that would be BS anyway. It also isn't an episode where I belabor you on why you need self-care in your life. No, this episode is something different. In today's podcast, I'm going to give you 4 tips about self-care as a high-achiever. These 4 tips are meant to help you change your mindset around and your approach toward self-care. For show notes, head to coachellyn.com/podcast and, of course, if you have any questions or want to connect, head on over to @coachellyn on Instagram. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/tbydl-podcast/message
SORRY NOT SORRY - but cutesy s***?! It's BS...and it's undermining your personal growth... “Cute” doesn’t transform you. It doesn’t motivate you when you’re stuck. It doesn’t set your soul on fire...and it doesn’t feel authentic! And this kind of work? That shit has GOT to feel authentic... And that's why in today's podcast, I'm calling BULLSHIT on all the cutesy shit we catch ourselves doing...and giving you practical tips for how to get CLEAR on the shit that's going to cut the crap and get to the CORE of who you want to be... For show notes, head to coachellyn.com/podcast and, of course, if you have any questions or want to connect, head on over to @coachellyn on Instagram. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/tbydl-podcast/message
Movie references for the win because, say what you want about Eat Pray Love, but they NAILED the high-achiever, hustler mentality... There's this one scene in the movie Eat Pray Love where this man name Luca Spaghetti of all things makes some bold, absurdly accurate - in my opinion - claims about Americans. He talks about how we burn ourselves out, feeling like we have to earn pleasure and play, and, honestly, as culturally stereotypical as it is, it's so true! Because for me? I have gone WEEKS without taking a TRUE day off. I have STRUGGLED with feeling like I had to EARN my downtime. I have felt that feeling like my WORTHINESS + VALIDATION are dependent upon what I produce. In this podcast episode, we'll be exploring the meaning of the phrase dolce far niente - which translates to the "sweetness of doing nothing." We'll be getting incredibly self-aware about how we FEEL about that saying, and I'll be issuing a CHALLENGE to those of us that struggle with this notion of DOING NOTHING! Can't wait to share it with you! Do you ever feel like you don't know what steps to take in your career? Whether to stay or to go? How to move forward? Whether to TAKE that promotion? You're not alone... I definitely have to. As have a number of my coaching clients. In fact, I realized that, though many of my clients come to me hoping to overcome their burnout, they're really looking for career clarity. They're looking for support and help in making decisions regarding next steps in their career.  These are women who are highly successful, corporate and career-driven badasses, yet they're realizing that what has gotten them there will no longer give them what they want in life. That they want so much more than the paycheck, the prestige, the title... So, in today's episode, that's what we're going to talk about. It's the only piece of CAREER ADVICE YOU NEED - to LOOK UP THE LADDER! For show notes, head to coachellyn.com/podcast and, of course, if you have any questions or want to connect, head on over to @coachellyn on Instagram. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/tbydl-podcast/message
IT'S HALFWAY THRU 2020 - & it's a NEW QUARTER! And I love that...cuz a new quarter is an opportunity to pivot, to learn, to make moves, and to set new goals! And I'm all about that. So in today's podcast, I'm going to be walking you through my process for doing a quarterly review. It's SO crucial because it keeps you intentional, gives you what you need in your life, and allows you to modify and course-correct moving forward. Plus, it helps you get more shit done than a yearly review process. And isn't THAT what all of us achievers want? It's a process that made up the foundations for my Take Back Your Life planner, and is something that I'm diligent about doing every 90-days. One planner user said: "I’m on track to hit every single goal! This has never happened before! I’ve been able to create and maintain habits I’ve wanted for years!” So basically, I'm not just blowing smoke up your @$$... If you've EVER felt like you're not making yourself a priority...OR the PEOPLE in your life are constantly over-stepping your boundaries...BUCKLE UP BABE! In today's episode, you're getting a sneak peek into some never before seen content. Content that up until this point in my coaching business has remained exclusive to my premium clients. But I wanted to share this information with you. It's my 4-step system to identifying and communicating your boundaries. Not only that, but I'm going to get raw and real about some very tangible examples from my life about how my boundaries were being violated...and I didn't even know it. I go over the hurdles of communicating boundaries, and that it was so hard but so damn necessary!
