I sit and listen to this lesson and I wonder, was Jesus talking about eating his body and blood, representing his WORD and not his physical body and blood. Jesus knew that eating blood was forbidden by THE FATHER. So he wouldn't ask us to do that, right? Just thinking! M.S.

What a story, what a lesson of true friendship in Christ! Thanks Kevin for sharing your story of a real Jesus love miracles. My physical disability is different, but, I get you! I am not yet as brave as you to talk about my situation, not yet, not yet! But, I am learning from this lesson. Thanks, Marty and Brent for this and for allowing me to really cry, thank you! M.S.

Brent asked "what happened to Judah's wife, why is he even pursuing a prostitute?" (my paraphrase) Marty read over that detail in Gen 38:12 where it reads, "After a long time, Judah's wife, the daughter of Shua, died."

I notice Jesus references the sign of Jonah again in Matthew 16:4. If I look at OT scriptures about wicked and perverse generation in relation to signs, it takes me back to Deut 1:35, Deut 32:5, 12 and Prov 30:12. Definitely some stuff to reflect on here that may give insight.

I 100% agree that there needs to be healthy teaching on our sexuality. There is too much shame heaped upon and carried by so many individuals. I hope there's another episode on this someday. thank you!

Is it possible that the sin Jesus was forgiving the paralytic was his lack of faith that he could be healed without having to let his friends tear through the roof of another man's home? I say this bc one, He says it first thing. Two, Jesus had just had a conversation earlier with the centurion whose faith he pointed out as greater than anyone on Israel bc the centurion didn't even need Jesus to come into his home to heal his servant.

When looking at verse 19, I also think about the fact that most people who have multiple demons came through a situation that is completely dysfunctional. Jesus sent him back into that situation armed with gratitude and healing by the Lord God as his story. I can't help but to think that the goal here is to heal more broken people. Going back to that which broke you is difficult and scary. This was a much bigger mission than we might think when we read this story. We tend to think that Jesus took away an opportunity from Legion for a simpler one, but it was not.

Start writing by putting your podcasts into text. The topics and information are so deep and connecting. They would make great reference material. It doesn't have to be deep philosophical stuff just give us an understanding that "it's in the text"

The only thing I can’t abide in this episode is Marty’s use of “y’all”. 😂. Bless it. He pronounces his Hebrew better than his Texan.

Excited to start listening. They struck a chord for sure with the deconstruction of the Christian faith based on how it was handed over to those of us growing up in the mainstream church. Love the open approach to ask safe questions👍

Hey, as a listener, I too, recommend that Marty should really write. Why, Marty is straight, meaning, honest in his reviews of books and in the conversations he has...makes for a great writer like; J.R. Briggs.

How does this Jacob story, show's what Abraham and Sarah's story says about Ishmael's and Isaac's story? Maybe, I'm thinking too much about this...God, talks to Abraham about his son, your only son, the son you love, why would God say it that way and repeated it, knowing that Abraham had two sons?

For many years, I've always wanted to hear someone speak, on Jacob's transgressions against, Samaria( ESAU'S lineage)...Edomites. Jesus's conversation with the woman at the well, spoke volumes about this...but, a ears were blocked until, now. Thank you all, for helping to unscale my eyes and unplug my ears. My heart was always heavy with Jacob being, the chosen of the two bothers and after, listening to your Jacob lesson, I had to seek, to make sense of it and I am so grateful for what you do.
